Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People: Biblical Look at the problem of suffering

Rate this book
Why is doing good no guarantee of an easy life? One of the most common objections to the Christian Faith is 'If God created the universe and is still in control of it, then why does he allow suffering and injustice?' Melvin Tinker considers the different opinions people have before investigating the biblical answers about a crucial topic that needs to be faced by an evangelistic church. He looks at the situations biblical characters faced, the opposition to Jesus himself and the suffering of the early church. This book provides the key factors behind the benefit and purpose of suffering.

It's a nice little book and very instructional/informative about the biblical perspective of suffering. It's well set out and despite the delicate nature of the topic in hand still manages to give off a laid back aura that draws the reader in and makes them feel at ease. I found it useful both in helping me deal with some of my own personal issues regarding my faith and also as a source of some good material for my dissertation topic. I'd highly recommend it to any theology students or sceptics who are interested in what the bible says about suffering without feeling like you're being criticised for a lack of faith/knowledge on the subject.
