Rate this book
Bakery shop owner Myra Bailey knows how to treat her customers. But sometimes life can get a bit sticky. When she has a disagreement with a local butcher –one that could have been solved with a handshake and a deliciously sweet cake –ends with his murder, Myra is caught dead in her tracks. Suddenly everyone in Fish Creek Falls has their eyes on her and they’re hungry with suspicion – everyone knew how much the butcher loved his large cinnamon rolls, one of Myra’s Saturday specialties.

Left with little choice but to catch the killer herself, Myra starts lining up suspects. But her case is full of holes. How did the killer strike in the middle of the day without a single witness to the crime? Who knew that the humble butcher was actually an heir to a family fortune? The heat is on as Myra embarks on a journey to solve the case and save her business.

“Glazed and Confused Murder, Thieves and Buried Treasure” is a bit of a mess.
It badly needs a tight edit and smacks of an author who writes at speeds without paying much attention to anything other than the plot.
It was summed up for my by one howler:- “I hoped that David heard enough to come with the Calvary.” To what extend the hill outside Jerusalem on which Christ was crucified could prove useful has me baffled.
Myra Bailey owns and runs a bakery in Fish Street Falls.
The normally quiet town is undergoing a spate of retail burglaries in which the damage is escalating.
And then the local butcher is murdered – and he'd just had a very public argument with Myra.
Luckily the killer left a clue at the bakery which provides the solution.
Everything falls far too neatly into place to allow for any character development or tension.
It could easily have been much better but it is a lazy piece of work.
2 Stars.
