Of the hundreds of peoples that lived and flourished in native North America, few have been so consistently misrepresented as the Apacheans of Arizona and New Mexico. Glorified by novelists, sensationalized by historians, and distorted beyond credulity by commercial film makers, the popular image of 'the Apache' - a brutish, terrifying semi-human bent upon wanton death and destruction - is almost entirely a product of irresponsible caricature and exaggeration...." – Keith Basso, anthropologist.

I really enjoy reading this book. It seemed well written, concise and informative. Like most people my knowledge of the Apache is based on John Wayne and other movies of 50s/60s movies. It was interesting to learn some facts and greater insight of their lives and history. Good read.
This two hour book is concise in it's reporting of the Apache. It must be accurate and it talks about Cochise, the most famous war leader. There is background that is also valuable. It's not too wordy.
Very interesting look at the language in this eBook as well as an engrossing discussion about the influence (or lack of one) of Christianity and native Apache beliefs.
