Nicolas Mondragon has searched for eight hundred years for his destined soul mate, to no avail. It would seem that he was doomed to spend his very long life alone, until his brother claims to be bringing home a girl he believes is fated to be Nicolas’ soul mate.
Mandy Wright leads a rather dull life—if you disregard her telekinetic talents—so when her best friend insists that she come home with him for the holiday break, she grudgingly agrees.
Shortly after arriving at their home, a massive wolf attacks her, and she is forced to use her telekinetic talents to repel the beast, but is left seriously injured.
Rescuing Mandy when she succumbs to her wounds, Nicolas is determined to never let her be hurt again. The only problem is that the werewolf is now stalking the castle, marking his territory and waiting for his moment to strike.
Now the brothers must determine whether the wolf is out to teach Mandy a lesson for having challenged him, or if he is after more . . .
Hello, all! I am a mother of two and am enjoying the pursuit of a writing career. I work full-time in the medical field and spend my down time with family and friends, reading or, (of course) writing. I am currently writing paranormal romance and hope to branch out to Contemporary soon.. The paranormal element allows me to give reality a new depth by integrating paranormal creatures into my everyday world. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want a little excitement added into their everyday life? The Southern/Gulf Coast culture that I have grown up in plays a big part in my writing, forming not only the cultural traits of the characters, but also the ambiance of the geography in many of my stories. I am new to the writing world, and who knows where it will take me? But I'm having fun nevertheless, and if people enjoy reading my work, then it's all been worth it. HAPPY READING!!
The first part of this book was just ok for me but when the wolf got involved it got more interesting. I shed a tear for the wolf. There seems to be some small inconsistencies, at least to me there are. For instance, Anna's age. On the whole it's a fairly sweet story.
Insta-love, fairly insta-sex and marriage quickly follows. Pregnant after 1 night too! Issue of rogue werewolf resolved by killing him, would have preferred to see him live and go on to find his mate.
This is a paranormal romance. A stand alone book, that would be an awesome series. I would recommend this to any age, anyone whom loves supernatural books. I was laughing thorough out the whole book. I love the sarcastic relationship between Mandy and her best friend. I also appreciated the devotion the brothers had to their soul mates. I even found my heart broke for the werewolf. This is a short read, so grab your coffee and sit back and enjoy.
This story is about Mandy Wright, a small town girl with a huge secret, she is telekinetic. Mandy has always been a loner so when she was invited by her best friend to go home with him on Christmas, she was nervous but couldn't seem to tell him no.
Nicolas Mondragon has been waiting for his soul mate for over 800 years. He believes he will never find her. Until his brother states he thinks he found Nicolas' soul mate and is bringing her home for Christmas.
Upon arriving to the Mondragon castle Mandy was attacked by an werewolf. In order to defend herself, her secret was revealed, she used her telekinetic talents. Even though she knock the wolf back, he still got to her, she is injured, but how bad she doesn't know.
Nicolas gets to Mandy as the pain forces her body to shut down. Nicolas swears he will never allow her to get hurt again. But now the werewolf is stalking the castle, waiting to finish what he started, does he want revenge or something else?
some of my favorite passages:
"In truth, he intimated and awed her all at once." "I can see the wheels turning in the pretty like egg head of yours." "Her eyes were an enchanting shade of green that reminded Jonathan of the spring fields near his home." "The village came into view, and instantly, she thought of the old fairy tales shed read as a child." "This was no Disney Princess' castle, this was more along the lines of Dracula." "Did they have some magical well water that made all the men super attractive?" "She could just picture a handsome prince descending the grand staircase and sweeping his love into his arms, before carrying her back up." "Like I stepped into one of my folklore books." "Would it be like romance novels, with burning passion and souls melding as one for all eternity." "Hell he was so proud, he was just shy of pounding his chest like a caveman." "We could be completely destitute and living in a cave, but as long as you loved me I would be content." <3 "Of course I am, what did you, expect Tinkerbell?"
Mandy Wright is a loner, though not by choice. Abandoned at birth by her parents and rejected by her uncaring foster parents, Mandy has only ever had herself to rely on. Her fate changes when she’s partnered with “sexy foreign god” Jonathan Mondragon on an assignment in their University Mythology course. The unlikely pair forms a fast friendship.
Jonathan refuses to take no for an answer when inviting Mandy home to the Carpathian Mountains for Christmas, even making the trip all-expenses paid. While Mandy thinks Jonathan’s being overly generous and maybe showing a little pity, he has his own reasons for bringing her home. Jonathan is an Elemental, an immortal, and when he spotted Mandy in class he knew he had found a soul mate… for his twin brother Nicolas.
“When you met your other half, you just knew. It was like a weight was lifted from your soul that you hadn’t even known was there. Being near your mate did that, and bonding with them cemented it.”
Jonathan and Nicolas lost their entire family hundreds of years ago in a vicious attack by a mad fairy prince. Mandy may be Nicolas’s one shot at finding happiness and a creating a future for the Mondragon’s, so the brothers know they have to bring her to their homeland even if it means putting her at risk to things that go bump in the night.
“There are many things in these woods, and monsters are only as dangerous as you allow them to be. We’ve been trying to keep the lands around the village safe for years, but it’s impossible to keep every dangerous creature at bay.”
Pettus doesn’t pull any paranormal punches and readers are quickly introduced to a reality of immortals, faeries, werewolves, vampires, and telekenetic’s. I thought the lore of “Elemental” was well thought out and easy to understand.
I did find the romance piece of the story lacking. Mandy, Jonathan, and Nicolas are good characters but when Pettus begins adding in a secondary romance between Jonathan and a fairy princess named Anna as well as a deranged werewolf who may be fixated on one of the girls, the pace of the story bogs down and I found myself being not as invested in their relationships.
Overall this was a pleasant read and is worth checking out.
I received a copy of this story for an honest review.
I was offered a copy in exchange for my honest review. I was intrigued by the synopsis of the book. Something about immortal twins… Mandy and Jonathan are hooked up during a class and they click. I love when an instant friendship develops! Jonathan knows that Mandy will be perfect for his brother, Nicolas. Now he just has to convince her to run away to the Carpathian Mountains with him! I loved the way the world of paranormal was introduced and written. It was engaging and you felt like you were part of the world that Mandy was seeing. I loved it and can’t wait to read more from this awesome author!

All I can say is WOW!! I loved the book!! The concept is cool, and I loved it!
One of the things that I really liked about this book was the characters. I loved how there personalities.. It's just that the only problem with Mandy is that she worked so hard that sometimes she forgets how to enjoy life, but still I loved her though.. And Nicholas, ugghhh!! I really really really liked his character!! I wish you were real Nicholas.. I will really snag you away from Mandy..lol!! I loved the men's attitude towards their mates and it made them more sexy as hell!
Another fantastic story from Serena, I have yet to read a book of hers that I have not enjoyed. A nice straightforward paranormal romance with no over the top drama.
