Another great & fun read by Rodney Riesel in the 'Tales of Dan Coast' series. Women in danger, boats, Keys volume of drinking (if you've ever spent any time down there, you'll understand), murder and mayhem. Plus a dog that acts more like a cat than a dog. What else do you need? If you are looking for a fun distraction for an evening, this is your book. I'm moving on to installment #3...
The only distraction in this edition is the constant drinking making our main character into a functional alcoholic . I am not opposed to drinking but over and over again is a bit much.
This book by Rodney Riesel is an entertaining read with well defined characters. It has some low key humor and a good touch of mystery and suspense. The dialog is very good.
Pretty good story but they seem to do a lot of grinning and laughing in some pretty grave situations. Kept me interested and reading and I like Dan Post.
My friend Rodney Riesel has two books currently selling well at Amazon. They both feature Dan Coast, and are set in Key West. So if you enjoy Key West mystery/thrillers these are for you. Like myself, Rod writes in a straight-forward, terse style. By that I mean he gets to the point without a lot of flowery language or lengthy scene and character description. He lets the story speak for itself.
Both books are pretty quick, light-hearted reads. They are perfect for the beach, or maybe on a cold northern winter’s night. Dan Coast is a cool character in a long line of Key West cool characters.
I really enjoyed latest tale by Mr. Diesel, and especially the way it is told. His ingeniously basic and folksy style with its endearingly minute detailing of common acts have a way of getting one delightfully immersed in the story. Also, his worldly characters, none of which take themselves too seriously, adds to the leisure and pleasure of the reading experience. All in all, a nice little tale with a the essential ingredient of being well told.
A nice light beach read. Dan Coast gets himself in and out of some new jams while taking the reader on a trip to the Florida keys. If you’ve read the first book in the Dan Coast series this one will be along the same lines. The story is well written and interesting and the characters, while flawed, are down to earth and relatable. I can’t wait for the next installment just in time for the holiday season!
Another good story from a series of mystery and thriller but just not as serious as a lot of authors might try to make it. I don't believe the volume of drinking the hero goes through and still functions, but it fits with the macho image being portrayed. Fun read for r.
Entertaining book, characters are likable. Story moved at a good pace, but it requires the reader to pay attention. Would be nice to have the same characters in a new adventure.
