I skipped the first story in this book as I’ve already read it when I read the full trilogy. The second story really steals the show for me! I was completely sucked in and felt like I was diving for treasure with them. It was such an interesting storyline and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The love story was a bit predictable but hey, which Nora Roberts love story isn’t a tad predictable?! I loved it nonetheless, such a fun and easy read.

contains two stories - Secret Star, the third and final installment in the Stars of Mithra trilogy, and Treasures Lost, Treasures Found, a Harlequin originally published in 1986.
I found Secret Star to be a somewhat disappointing conclusion to the trilogy. I couldn't connect with heroine Grace. While she did have a difficult family life, her main problems as an adult stemmed from the fact that she was too beautiful, perfect and rich. Sorry, but if I'm to be empathetic, I need to be able to relate on some level. I could sympathize with some of her troubles, but most of the time I wanted to tell her to get over herself. 3 stars. The middle book of the trilogy,
Captive Star, with its snappy dialogue, was definitely the pick of the bunch for me.
Treasures Lost, Treasures Found was a quick read about love lost and recaptured. Kate shared a summer of love with Ky 4 years ago on Ocracoke Island. Kate left Ky to fulfill her father's ambitions for her, but following the her father's death and the subsequent discovery of his secret research, she is back on Ocracoke Island.
Treasures Lost, Treasures Found was an enjoyable read about lovers reunited on a search for shipwrecked treasure. Ky made a great hero and there was enough action to keep things moving. As with most of NR's work, it has aged extremely well. 4 stars.

Treasures Lost, Treasures Found - Ky and Kate were cute together. Although, Ky annoyed me just a little bit. He had that caveman attitude of needing to protect his woman at all costs. Which, like, I get and all, but he didn't like when she tried to protect him. And sometimes men need as much protection as women do. Love is all about protecting the ones you love, so I was slightly agitated about him and his attitude.
The pacing was a little slow for me, too. Nora Roberts usually has such a great build up with her romances, but this time, for me, it just seemed to slow. I mean, we definitely knew that they were going to fall for each other (again) from the start, but it didn't really seem to happen until 3/4 of the way through the story.
And I never really got why she felt like she had to do all she could to make her father like her. Or why she worshipped/followed him everywhere. Like, you are a grown adult woman. You do not need to bend over backwards to make your father approve of you. He should just approve of you because you are doing what you want to do. That you are happy with your life. I mean, she didn't even cry at his funeral. That is quite telling, if you ask me.

Secret Star - 2/5 - Tied with the first story for my least favorite of the trilogy. Grace isn't TSTL at least, but she's almost worse. She's cool, calm, collected and not afraid to use her body and her looks to get what she wants - but she has a vulnerable side of course. This is my least favorite character type that Nora Roberts writes. I like a strong, confident heroine, but I don't like it when they're manipulative, calculating and willing to use sex as a means to accomplish something. And Grace comes a little too close to this for my tastes. She has her good parts and what not, but I just couldn't identify with her nor really sympathize with her. Buchanan, the hero isn't bad, but I can't understand him. Why do heroes fall in love with heroines they don't respect? Sure the respect comes eventually - but he finds himself falling in love with a woman that he barely knows and who he's been thinking the worst of all this time. The suspense in this book is definitely the best part. It wraps up nicely (even though the whole premise of mailing priceless diamonds was a bit ridiculous) and there's plenty of suspense here. I just didn't like the characters or the romance that much.
Treasures Lost, Treasures Found - 3/5 - You can really see the difference between Nora's 1980's stuff and her 1990's stuff. It gets so much better. You see it in the fact that her characters have a bit more depth and she actually switches POV. In this story, Kate is trying to finish her father's dream (he's dead) and goes back to North Carolina, to Ky Silver, to search for the sunken ship that her father was looking for. She and Ky have a history. They'd been in love and when Ky asked Kate to stay, she walked away...unwilling to give up her father's approval. So thing start off very bitter between the two of them. They do soften towards each other, as they must, but Kate continually got on my nerves with her irrational stubbornness and yes, on occasion her stupidity. It frustrated me that she thought everyone was trying to control her and keep her from doing what she needed to do, when they seriously did know better than her and were looking out for her. This is actually two books in one. Secret star was a bit far fetched for me and Treasures Lost, Treasures Found was your stereotypical paperback romance. I read these because I read Angels Falls by Roberts and liked it... it had a more envolved story line so I thought I was going to be reading something similar. Not the case but still desecent mindless reading if you need a book for laying out this summer.

I enjoy Nora Roberts. Her books are among some of my favourites. However I wasn't as enamoured with this book as I have been with others. I found it difficult to relate to the two main characters. As well I didn't think their issues were resolved, at least not to my satisfaction. Anyway, on to my next book.

A typical Nora Roberts plot of romanticism with misunderstanding in the middle which leads to happy ending in the end. A light read for an enlightened endeavour to de stress a hectic day.

i was already annoyed and i had only gotten as far as page 2.
nora always has to have her guys have instant attraction-or lust, i should say-for the girl character. its so freakin annoying!
id honestly rather have it where they dont like eachother at 1st &then end up liking eachother l8r,cuz the way nora does it is just plain aggravating.
i also dont think guys rlly have thoughts like that.i think its all in noras head.like "eyes of laser blue whispered of sex.skin with a hint of warm rose beneath-just warm enuff that a man cud fantasize that heat was kindling only for him.the mouth was curved invitingly, appeared pillow soft,yet strong in shape.a bold red temptation that beckoned as clearly as a sirens call. it was too dang bad she was dead." who looks at a painting &thinks all of that?! in fact,who looks at anyone alive,and thinks that??
&of course,she has him have all those thoughts becuz the woman is act. alive. &wut wud it be like if the guy had seen a pic of her and dint have lusty instant attraction? oh,the horror!
"he turned away from the portrait,annoyed that his gaze and his mind kept drifting back to it." its a freakin painting! get over it!
"beautiful face first." "she'd lost her beauty in death,he thought,& that was a damn shame,2." who talks like that about a dead person?!
this guy is so cavaleir and boderline disrespectful about a dead person. "sum1 was goin2 have a tough time gettin the bloodstains out of the dove-gray upholstery of the sofa."
the guy is lusting after a dead girl in a painting.come on.could u get any more stupid and unrealistic if you tried?!
ugh.this character is just like margo from Daring to Dream.had an affair w/a married man.been w/ a million guys.the thing about noras characterss is they're usually totally unrelatable.like the "privileged,pampered heiress" & the "country-club darling."-(words from this book).
how many ppl can even halfway relate 2that? &wut guy wants to get w/sum1 like grace? its disgusting.
nora tends to do these types of characters a lot.the fast,forward women,who cuss,drink champagne and wine,smoke,throw themselves at men.
it doesnt send a good message that guys like girls like that.&it duznt say much about a person who's like that.
grace's cousin dies &she talks of how she always copied her.she even says "poor pathetic melissa." the character reminds me2 much of margo.&i hated margo! grace even surpasses her shallowness/ arrogance.
who wud like/relate 2a character like this? becuz we're all brats who jetset across the world.
its already confusing.how is any of these ppl linked to the jewles? wut do they even look like? 1second,its a triangle,the next its like a necklace or sumthin.i honestly dont even care enuff 2continue reading.
shes borderline flirting with her friends boyfriends,or w/e they r.&thats another thing.who r these ppl? i cant even tell that because nora duznt write in a clear,understanding way.is this the 1st book n the series? cuz i feel like ive ben thrown into the middle of the story.idk how she got the diamonds.or wut the deal is w/the freakin diamonds.its not makin any sense.
cant stand readin about ppl who r extremely rich&look down on every1.&have a ridiculous amount of expensive jewelry.&grace blinds ppl her smile.

"if i had the energy-or the inclination-i cud make u sit up&beg." just who do u think u r? nora's characters r all these sophisticated-&ok,ill call it like it is-sluts,who wear these elegant clothes, the business women type,who wear suits for goodness sakes.&u no authors usually write like how they r.&since nora wears suits n her all her pics,u just no she has2 b like these characters.
u find out ur cuz died,&that very nite,ur smilin&acting like nothins wrong.&the next day,ur back2 ur slutty cheap-ploy using ways.im confused by this character.it sounds like she wants2 be charged w/murder.1second shes srry about melissa dying,the next she's sayin things like "she paid 4her trespassing,4her carelessness &her ignorance." as if u shud die 4sumthin like that.it duznt say much about the guy if he likes a woman like this.my opinion of him is almost as bad as my opinion of her.

seth,who a while ago looked on w/disdain &was mad @her 4bein w/this guy,is now kissin her &feedin her a bunch of crap like "u dint deserve that." as if any of us agree.
after knowin him for all of a few days,shes like "take me home.make love w/me." &he's like "sex isnt the answer 4every1." &shes like "sex?she thought as she struggled2clear her dazzled. did he rlly believe she'd ben speakin about sumthin as simple as sex?"
wut else were u referring 2? wut else does "make love w/me" mean? u havent known him long enuff or well enuff 2 have sum deeper meaning behind it.

Irish rebel,the book i just finished by nora,has kind of the same storyline,like where the guy has an opinion of the girl that turns out2 be wrong.like in there,the guy thought the girl was a snob. wen n fact,she had her own riding class for unprivilaged children.how nice.
just like n here,it turns out the cheap ploy-using slut takes care of sick babies.like seriously? it just duznt work @all.&idc 2 read about her or seth for that matter.stupid ppl who have feelings so quickly it isnt even believable.the most unlikable characters u cud ever write about.&a terrible storyline.

Irish rebel,the book i just finished by nora,has kind of the same storyline,like where the guy has an opinion of the girl that turns out2 be wrong.like in there,the guy thought the girl was a snob. wen n fact,she had her own riding class for unprivilaged children.how nice.

This review is for Secret Star only; I had read Treasures Lost, Treasures Found previously. Detective Seth falls for a supposed dead woman, Grace, who may hold the last diamond in a set of three that needs to be reunited at a museum. I didn’t realize this was part of a series; I might have enjoyed this more had I started with the first in the trilogy. Even so, I didn’t believe Seth’s quick falling for Grace.

I enjoyed this one. That beginning of the conclusion of the trilogy was amazing, but I enjoyed seeing the ending. And the novella that was after it was fun and a good pairing.

I had already read Secret Star so I skipped and went on to read Treasures Lost, Treasures Found. Good read! Kate Haredesty, an English professor from Yale, always worked hard to make her father proud of her. But never once did he express pride in her accomplishments. She went on one of his summer trips to an Island where her father would take off on sea diving expeditions and not share anything about his work with her, and leave her on her own. That same summer she met a deep sea diver, Ty Silver and fell in love with him. He had begged her to stay, but not wanting to disappoint her father she leaves him behind. Four years have passed and Kate's father has died of a heart attack. She is surprised to find that her father has been spending many years, writing and researching a ship that had sunk off the coast of the Island 200 years ago. Determined to finish his work, Kate decides to go to the island and face Ty and his broken heart.

it to me a while to accept and "generate" this type of story. i didn't realize it's under mills and boon. i simply cannot accept the female characters.. especially Grace Fontaine in Secret Stars. too strong for wanting a man, and yet too vulnerable.
while for Kate Hardesty, totally unpredictable. well, the treasure hunting is fun. because she and Ky Silver diving together.
but the male character, Lieutenant Seth Buchanan and Ky Silver... wow they really willingly compromise with the women they loved. the time, the patience, the willingness .. hmmm
it's been like more than 30 years i have stopped reading mills and boon. and romance not my cup of tea. Huhuhu... not the type oh i love you but i have to leave you... make love to me and fills me... aiyaaa ... it's like not my thing of dialogues.

Turns out that she was not the person in her house that night and has become the diamond collectors latest obsession. He must get through Lieutenant Seth Buchanan first, though.

Nora Roberts' Treasures features two novels: Secret Star, and Treasures Lost, Treasures Found. The first story, Secret Star, is the third book in The Stars of Mithra trilogy. If I had known it was part of a series I would have waited and read the preceding two first and might have enjoyed the character's past lives events more and understood the book as a whole better.
The second story, Treasures Lost Treasures Found, I absolutely loved because I could relate to the characters relationship conflicting issues of thinking with your heart or your head.

Continue from The Stars (adventures of Bailey & MJ with the blue diamonds of Mithra), this book still gives me the urge to keep reading until the end. Full of slowly revealing mysteries, love and passion, a great read during the weekend!
However, I kind of think that the bad guy (Gregor) died a bit too quickly. There was no bodyguard outside his room or beside him, and the house was a bit too easy to break into and save Grace. I was anticipating more obstacles actually.
Anyhow, a satisfying ending to all the three girls and the stones.

I really like Treasures Lost, Treasures Found. It was a nice little story about two frustrating people who just won't admit that they love one another and should be together. I enjoyed the Secret Star as well, except the ending. This book was the last in a trilogy that evolved around three couples and one evil guy. I was disappointed with how easy it was for the bad guy to be taken down. There should have been more conflict. Other than that, I enjoyed the book.

I only read the first story in the book, which was the continuation of Stars of Mithra trilogy. It was okay. I guess I expected more about who was behind the killings and that all just seemed to tie up too quickly and nicely for me. Oh well...

I really like the stars trilogy, first two books happen simotaneously and the third locks in with the first two. Usually when they package a trilogy into two books and throw a random fourth book to complete the package I find that single book lacking but I truly enjoyed the bonus book this time.
