Born and raised in Miami, Florida, bestselling author, C. L. Pardington, put her passion for the sea and her creative mind to good use when she splashed onto the writing scene in the summer of 2013, with the debut of her fantasy romance series, Warriors of the Atlantean Empire.

Prior to becoming a full time writer, she owned an interior decorating company, and later became an ophthalmic nurse, then, a stay-at-home mom. In 2008, she moved her family to the magnificent state of Colorado.

While she enjoyed being at home with her kids immensely, after twelve years, she needed to do something with her built-up creative energy. It was then she found her calling and jumped head first into the world of romance writing. She hasn’t looked back since.

When she’s not writing, or exploring the Rockies with her family, she likes to drive to her favorite lake in the mountains and plot out the story lines for her books. Coffee in hand, of course.

If this introduction to the Warriors of the Atlantean Empire is an example of what’s to come, then hold on tight, it’s going to be a thrilling ride.
With The Ensuing War, CL Pardington has set the backdrop to a powerful, actioned packed, magical and passionate world, that I’m sure will have readers clamouring for more.
I loved the characters and the beauty described by the author, but shed a tear at the end for a tragic loss and the shattered soul left behind.
I am now left waiting with baited breath for the first full-length novel - Talon’s Echo, which releases later this year.

A Tease to an addiction!

Interesting start for a new series, this prelude was a tease to what's to come. Though only 50 pages long the author sets up the magical world of Atlantis and the warriors of the sea. The Merman Atargatis (King of the Sea)relationship with Crehon the human ruler over Atlantis was in the best standing, but with war accidents happen and harsh tragedies occur, some intentional and some by accident. With an ending to a war both sides lose in reality, one the loss of control and the other the loss of a love life.

The author captures the excitement of the lead up to the war along with the character's friendship. However by the end with the tragedy the readers are left with wanting more of the story. (tease to keep us coming back for more - LOL)

The character build up of the mermaids is brilliant and gives the reader a beautiful glimps into their undersea world of freedom and love - Especially how they mate and live. As far as the heat level I would say it was 2 flames out of 5 flames.

The characters on Atlantis are interesting but I didn't get a good feel for them as I did with the children of the sea but Crehon's revengeful streak has got my curiosity and I can't wait to read what unfolds for Atlantis.

Over all - great start and looking forward to the 1st edition to the "Talin's Echo (Warriors of the Atlantean Empire Series).

I recommend this for all those who love the Mer Folks and stories of Atlantis.

A Prelude to an Incredible Series!

What can I say? I was completely floored by this book. With a prequel like this, anyone would want to know what happened.

Atargatis and Crehon. How could brothers in arms suddenly become enemies? They can. When one is consumed with grief. I have always believed that the actions we decide to take brings about consequences that we have to accept. And yet in this story, through no fault of one of the protagonists, a consequence was brought to bear. In the end, this divided them.

I like Ms Pardington's writing style. It is historically lyrical and keeps in line with the era she writes of. The vision of the worlds she creates through her words is captivating to say the least. One is able to swim and see the depths of Atargatis' beautiful kingdom, and one cannot help but wish and sigh to live in Crehon's home.

Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it.

Magnificent....yes, that's the word.

Magnificent.

Looking forward to the next book!

I'd been anticipating the release of this novella for quite some time, and it was definitely worth the wait. CL Pardington has a gift for drawing the reader into the story and keeping you there, and you are definitely left wanting more. If you are a lover of fantasy, this prelude to the series is definitely for you as it is filled with love, passion and intrigue. Looking forward to the next installment of this series.

Love this storyline!
C.L. Develops the characters and gets right into the action without filling pages and chapters with unnecessary fluff.
The setup to the continuation of the series is very well done with a surprising twist. Love this book and I'm excited for the entire series. If you like adult romance and mermaid fantasy- you will enjoy this story!

This is a really good, short prelude to a series I can't wait to read. Kind of a tease. Be sure to pay attention to the character list or the strange names may confuse you.

This is a story of Atlantis and Oceania and with two friends, Crehon-Emperor of Atlantis and Atargatis-soon to be Emperor of Oceania. Atlantis is going to be invaded by Emperor Ethos of Cythera. Crehon asks friend Atargatis to fight with him against Ethos and Atargatis agrees. Crehon finds out from his wife, Magna, that she is pregnant and when she learns of the upcoming battle is terrified. He assures her with the help of Atargatis that they will win the battle. Ethos does attack and the mermen help destroy Ethos' fleet. Unfortunately, Crehon's wife Magna was killed in the ensuing battle and it seems it was Atargatis' tusked weapon that killed her. Crehon goes berserk when he finds his wife is dead and he kills everyone on shore including mermen. Ethos has been defeated but at what a cost. It's the law of Oceania if any human kills a merman, he must be punished. The two friends have now become each others enemies.

Has hot love scenes, plenty of action and a great story into the two different worlds of humans and mermen. I highly recommend this book especially if you like this genre and I'm looking forward to the whole series.

Crehon is the ruler of Atlantis and he has received an ultimatum from another island nation. Surrender or be conquered. That’s quite a choice. Atargatis, ruler of the Mer people of Oceania is a friend to Atlantis and chooses to side with them in the coming fight. They both have beautiful mates that they love more than life itself. Both kingdoms will risk all to remain free from the approaching conquest.

Descriptions of the under sea realm are well done, bringing sea dragons to life in the imagination.

This is a story with love, battle, betrayal and some tragedy. It is also excellently written and edited. This gets a four out of four satisfaction units from me. Well done.

Sexy, Magical, & Action-Packed!!!!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This prelude was an amazing start to what is going to be a fantastic and very HOT series. I love that you get both the human world with Atlantis and the mermaid world with Oceania. If you love fairy tales or fantasy books this one is for you. There are many aspects of this book I enjoyed. The writing itself is very descriptive and makes you feel you are actually in the book. Which I love. Also, there are HOT love scenes and is action packed. For a short story, it is filled with qualities of a full novel and you will be entertained from beginning to end. Excellent start for this new author. I am anticipating what CL Pardington has to offer next.

This is the sequel to the Warriors of the Atlantean Empire Series. Although it is short, it is packed with strong emotions that grab you from page one and don't let go till the last page. When it ended, I wanted to keep reading!

It is the story of Atlantis and Oceania and the people who had once been great friends and allies before they fought together to fight a common threat. Tragedy brought about by that war destroyed their friendship and they became deadly enemies. The book paves the way for the continuing saga between Atlantis and Oceania. I look forward to reading the whole series.

Darlings of Paranormal Romance Anthology

This was just kinda meh. Way too many characters in too short a story. I didn't really care about any of them.

I loved mer people as a child so I found this intriguing. it's the first adult mer book I have read and I intend to follow up on book 1 from this prequel.
abrupt ending could have been spread out more but whatever...
I vote this a 2** coz it was so short and because it wasn't overly exciting. other than the sex it is more of a YA book.

I found this book ... hard to finish which for me is a difficult thing to say. I love books and hate to not finish one but this as short as it was didn't hold my attention. I found that there was not enough information and what there was for information was lack luster. Idea was a good one just need more meat to it.

I found myself skipping parts and just skimming the book so I could get to the end. It didn't hold my interest at all. I love paranormal books with romance and excitement. This one just didn't do it for me.
