there are a few things I didn’t really like about this book
I really hope the author has finally put to rest the toxic relationship vibes. I don’t even think the author is realizing they are doing it. Normally I don’t mind when an author creates the story as they are writing, however an author cannot be lazy when using this style if they want a likable story. I can tell they were lazy a good example is in the last book when Lara didn’t tell Mikaela about the wedding tradition before hand. That really made Lara very unlikable to me and she continues to be lazy. The way the author was lazy is that they suddenly had the idea to have this tradition so they wrote it, but they didn’t take the time to go back and write about Lara explaining it, instead they chose to take the easy way out and weave into the story that Lara just forgot to tell her. I will admit writing a 12 book series as a pantser is very difficult and they are a good story teller, but they would be incredible if they even just went back through the book after writing it and thickening out things they did lazily in the first draft. And there in lays the problem with writing off the cuff is that it is essentially a lazy writing style so a lot of the authors who write this way end up developing bad habits that reinforce the laziness.
Oh this series just keeps giving. I'll admit this is one of the best wolf series I've read.
Lara and Michaela are on their honeymoon in Colorado. Roseau describes the scenery, that if you close your eyes you could actually be there. And wow, if it's anything like my imagination, I do want to go.
We learn a lot about Michaela's past, and how she survived before meeting the Madison wolves. It's a great story with a lot of humour. Made me laugh a lot.
You have to give this series a chance. You'll love it.
The 4th book of the saga of the Madison Wolves led by Lara and Michaela the Fox picks up right where the last book ended, and starts off with the newlywed couple's honeymoon. A friend from Michaela's past calls desperately for help. And the fox and the wolf clan are off to their latest adventure.
It is not as exciting as the first two books, but is better than the third. Fans of the series will appreciate the author's attention to detail with regards to the politics, the rituals, even the seating arrangements involved when it comes to intra-clan relations. I loved the author's exploration of Michaela's feelings of loss of her identity and the house--it was so well done, and that for me was the highlight of the book. That said, I felt that the book can still be trimmed by a good editor. Some scenes just went on too long.
At over 350 pages, I was expecting more action and fireworks with the encounter with the other tribe. Up to now, the books are still so Michaela and Lara centered. I'd like to know more about Elizabeth and Brooke. The bathtub scene was seriously hot, though, so Robin hasn't lost her touch in that department. :)
As with the other stories in the series, I enjoyed this one too. However, there was one part where I was pretty pissed. It was what Lara did to Michaela. I didn’t see/read where Lara explained herself. And I believe that Michaela should have walked away for some time before allowing Lara back into her life. Maybe I don’t understand were’s and pack personalities, but that was brutal and painful. And Michaela showed weakness and forgiveness too soon. I know that Lara loves her with her entire being, but that…sigh.
I am team Michaela, but she does get on my nerves probably just as much as she does Lara. But like Lara, I just love her to pieces and that makes up for it all.
I am sure Michaela going back into time to rescue old friends may mean that they will be key players in the future. I understand, but I did want to speed through this part of the story. I like spec ops, but yawn.
I can’t wait to read the next book. I do love this couple.
The newlyweds are on their honeymoon enjoying live when Michaela gets a call from the only other family she ever knew. Bree, the girl Michaela saved from a viscous attack, needs her help.
This story is fun and easy to read. More hints from the past are revealed.
In their honeymoon, and things were going great until something happened to Michaela's surrogate family. They rescued her at the same time she rescued them.
So when they needed help the pack stepped up. Love it.
