Adrian Shaughnessy's musings on design and other cultural concerns are refreshingly smart and straightforward, while avoiding the jargon and insular world views so endemic in writing of this sort. I've been xeroxing and marking up multiple articles for future reference, both as a design practitioner and instructor. There's part of me, though, that wishes the book was less a complete compendium of his writings and more judicially edited, as some pieces feel a bit throwaway. Nonetheless, here's hoping that Mr. Shaughnessy keeps the words flowing. We need more design critics of his lucid and incisive ilk.
