Another FMC who took bad decision in order to save people who never asked for and were totally capable to do it themselves🙄 Be aware of big trigger warnings!!!!
I DNF’d this really early, in chapter 3. The FMC is the stupidest chick I’ve read in a while. She’s a spoiled brat who was warned so many times about her boyfriend. Then when she was assaulted with his blessing, the next morning instead of running away she just stands there and has a conversation with him. Wtf?!?
I adored the first series of Alice Clyde. I really enjoyed how a secret Beta is actually a Omega who has been hidden her entire life. That series was very well done. - look for The Solvieg Pack - that’s the first of Clyde’s series, and very well done.
In the Burton Pack, Clyde’s next series we follow Aurora one of the rescued Omegas who had been sold as a sex slave but rescued by Seth Burton of the influential Burton Pack. He saves her and helps her through her heat and then brings her home where she meets his twin brothers. AND HERE IS WHERE THE BOOK GOES, for lack of a better word, YUCK. First off Oliver and Simon are two dimensional characters who show no depth at all!!! It makes no sense that they’re ready for a permanent Omega as they still act like children!! Seth is THE ONLY BURTON WORTH AURORA!!! It honestly should be an Alpha and Omega book between Seth and Aurora. Soooo…we continue and the three brothers decide to court Aurora (even though she’s traumatized) she won’t tell anyone who sold her - which is stupid- since they ALL run in the same circles and are all (if not more powerful) than the assho*le that sold her!! There’s no reason for her to “protect his identity”. But to the Yuck factor. One, as I said Simon and Oliver are waaaay too much alike and are also not fleshed out as characters. They act like they’re twelve, not grown men on a military base!! There’s no way you can take them seriously!! Now the biggest yuck… **Spoiler** In a scene where all three brothers are alone with Aurora and comforting her, telling her they want her despite her trauma, and the fact that she wants to take the relationship slowly. Seth is the only one that respects that boundary. And Okay, here we go, Simon and Oliver “make out!” I’m sorry but, WHAT???!!!! They are twins, that’s borderline incest without penetration, and just totally Yuck! Sorry, if your brother was LICKING, sucking and playing with your throat and you let out a moan, would you not consider that sexual??! And if your girl wanted to see “more” So yes, I’m kinda creeped out. Then we find out it’s maybe a dream OF HERS? Frankly that’s still icky, not sure if part two is worth picking up. And cannot for the life of me understand why Clyde “WENT THERE.” YUCK!
The writing is not only ridiculous but so is the plot. She was abused and raped for weeks on end and you’re telling me she’s just gonna have sex with the first random alpha she finds? yeah because that makes sense. and why are we just jumping straight into the middle of the story? we should’ve been placed at the beginning where we see her being isolated from her relationships and the issues that came from dating jake.
the fmc is also ridiculous annoying outside of whatever she went through. the privilege was flowing out of the book and I almost drowned in it. also why is she so special and immune to being broken by the trafficking? I feel like the whole point of that part of the plot is to break her. yet she still acts privileged af about it all.
not to mention the way she thinks about the other victims was so judgemental. sorry they don’t want to talk to the privileged omega who thinks just because she somebody’s daughter that she’s above the rest of them. she was so fucking dismissive of their predicament and the fact that they had been utterly broken by months of abuse. “They lost hope, but I didn’t” that part read off like she was so special and stronger than them.
all of this stood out to me because as soon as she was free, she was mouthing off to the first alpha she saw, and not in a traumatised way. It was full of spoiled brat behavior with a splash of “see she’s traumatized! see how she thinks all alphas are bad”. oh brother, this guy STINKS.
I can’t even say anything too deep about our mmc because I dnf’d so early on. his personality was flat as fuck though.
this is another story where an author should have beta and alpha readers and if people read this book before publishing and hyped it, they’re liars and you need a new circle. I’ll probably never read another book by this author because when I read the last series, the first book was good then the plot went south and I never bought the physical copies. now I can just tell that it’s consistently terrible writing.

This novel gripped me with its raw intensity. Some moments frustrated me, particularly with Aurora, or Rory. At times, her naivety bordered on foolishness, but she was young, untouched by the darkness that would soon engulf her. Her world shattered when her treacherous ex-boyfriend betrayed her, selling her into a living nightmare. For an agonizing three to four months, she endured relentless torture and unspeakable horrors at the hands of the merciless Black Widows group. But then, like a beacon of hope piercing the darkness, she was rescued alongside the other imprisoned omegas.
Although she had been successfully rescued, a surge of panic coursed through her veins, compelling her to attempt an escape. In that moment, her instinct to flee overshadowed the relief of safety, driving her to dart away with startling speed, desperate for freedom.
But then, a new and unexpected complication arose. Seth quickly realized that she was an omega, and the scent of her emerging heat hung in the air, intoxicating and powerful. As the week unfolded, he found himself navigating uncharted territory, both mesmerized and challenged by the instincts that surged within them both. The urgency of the situation took on an entirely new dimension, intertwining their fates in ways neither could have anticipated.
After this... You need to read it yourselves!
The smut was very detailed and written fabulously.
The storyline drew me in. I read the Solveig Pack series and it was good, so I figured I would check this one out. I read a LOT of books, generally 7-10 a week and most times they are OV and always RH/PNR. Since I recall reading the Solveig Pack series I was kinda disappointed in this story because the writing was not like that of the former series. Several times I wanted to DNF but I kept pushing through till the end. There’s some inconsistency, a whole lot of weird sentence structure, that made me have to read paragraphs several times over just to understand what was being relayed to me. And a ton of redundancy. And while the ages of the characters were not explained, the fact that all three of the MMCs were high ranking military would put them at late twenties early thirties the twins acted like pre-pubescent boys. I’m not one to yuck anyone’s yum, but, there’s one scene with the twins where they get a little too close for my comfort and I was like WTH is happening!?!? It was a brief scene, that eluded to something that’s way out of my wheelhouse. Anywho, I will probably not read the second book, even though there was a good cliffy. All in all the story idea was good, the execution needed a bit more work, the writing style seemed not well developed and editing was non existent. Happy Reading Friends!
Rory has to be one of the stupidest fmc I have read in a long time. Annoyingly stupid. After who knows how long of being abused and burned with cigarettes by her alpha, it takes her being given away and raped by 3 men for her to say she never feared him until he took the mask off. Like honey, the mask was always off. Even if she accepted the abuse, there is no way fear wouldn't be involved. She acts like a clueless child.
This theme is carried through to when she is sold and wakes up in a holding placem she asked the mist dumb questions. What did I do to you? Where exactly are we? Who is that? She acts like a stupid child and it's frustrating to read.
I was close to dnfing at this point but I wanted to see up until the guys rescued her and if that would change things because unfortunately, authors tend to make very unlikeable fmc's but when the storyline progresses and the mmc come in, everything gets better. I hate that but alas, it is what it is.
It did not get better when the mmc where introduced. The dialogue seemed stiltled and odd. Nothing drew me in. It was all around just wierd.
This book is pretty graphic in the beginning with not only does her boyfriend abuse her but he also sets her up to be r*ped and then sells her into s*x trafficking. Oof.
But hey.. traumatized fmcs are my favorite.. except when they have plenty of STRONG CAPABLE men around them that know what is going on in their life and want to protect her.. yet she still runs off with those that want to her to protect everyone but herself? Yeah. That happens. Literally one of the dumbest things in these types of books. Especially when she is traumatized from what she went through.
Also every interaction with the fmc's father was so forced and uncomfortable. The writing just didn't flow in those scenes and it was difficult to get through.
Lastly, there is borderline incest at one point? It was not only really random but also so unnecessary? Especially the way that the fmc was getting hot watching them touch each other? Gross.
The most off putting thing in this book for me (that almost made me DNF more than once) is the idea that the abused omegas ‘took the easy way out’ with drugs. Or that they aren’t brave and worthy because they took drugs to numb their experience. Other peeves: - The MMC dropping her off AT THE GATE after rescuing her from traffickers is insane. - I have no problems with MM in a RH series, but suggesting identical twins hook up is a step too far for me - That the MMCs are all okay with her not addressing her trauma (with a therapist or the people in her life) is wild. That’s not brave it’s Stupid
1: I don’t read books where the FMC process she is TSTL as a rule. This starts off in that direction but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Not sure she redeemed herself by the end of this book. 2: the trauma that is inflicted in sexual assault doesn’t need to be described in detail. Nothing extra is gained by the reader and it can be really triggering for many. I had to skip chunks of the book for this reason. 3: Seth just left her in front of her house and DROVE AWAY!?! 4: the twins are too idiotic in their behavior. And there’s a moment where the author lets us believe that they may be with each other physically at least sometimes? It doesn’t happen but there are a couple of
This story is a good one and deals with the aftermath of come incredible trauma. My only reason for marking this 4 stars is how Seth and Rory come together initially. I get biology. But it felt very off to me. Rory’s reaction seemed incredibly Stockholm Syndrome-esque to me and while there are talks of being mates given her trauma the ease in which they jumped in to sex felt rushed.
That said, the pack is amazing. Though the twins need to grow up a bit. Hopefully, they find Rory before any further trauma occurs.
This book is really good. Caught in a compound on the verge of heat now Seth is her world. But he doesn't seem as bad as the other guys were. He helps her and delivers her back home. But now she realizes he is what she needed. How to find him again? When she's at a party she's nearly captured again but by coincidence rescued by Seths brothers. Finding him is perfect but now what happens. She's still traumatized. How to fix it?
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book! The way Aurora grows through out the book and gets closer to her pack was good! The packs lead Alpha is definitely my favorite I love the way he protects and genuinely care for Aurora 🤍 And the other two I love there personality’s and how they have helped Aurora open up. I seriously can’t wait for the next book to come out!
It’s been a slow journey but FINALLY after DNFing several of Alice Clyde’s books…there’s improvement. Much better story flow, less awkward sentences/paragraphs and the vocabulary is improving. However the constant “stomping” got on my nerves badly and we should all agree to never use “mounds” to describe breasts or other intimate parts.
Rory is sold by her awful bf Jake to some alphas who abuse her into an organization called Black Widow where she's abused for 3 months. Seth and other military find and free them. He recognizes she's going into heat, helps her and turns out they're mates. Later she meets his twin brothers Oliver and Simon and it turns out they're her mates too. Cliffhanger.
The twins got annoying after a while and so did Rory... Just grateful this isnt a trilogy, like the Solvieg Pack's story...very hard reading the on page sex assault, definitely skipped those parts
I probably should have DNF this around the 60% mark but pushed myself to finish it. Despite the cliffhanger I probably wont be finishing this series, the FMC was irritating as all hell and the pack wasn't any better.
FIRST OF ALL, the author having the main FMC be victim to rape by countless men, on stage, in front of hundreds, for MONTHS, and then have her go into heat so that she had to have sex with a stranger? Total trauma porn.
THEN, she gets free and doesn't want to help bring the men responsible for her torture to justice? Even though she'll see them in her social circles? Stupid.
THIRDLY, at the first event she goes to she nearly gets raped again by one of the perpetrators, and still doesn't do anything about it.
THEN, she starts getting horny for 3 brothers, just a couple of weeks after being freed.
AND THEN, the twin brothers... y'all, incest is NOT ok.
Putting this author on my NO list.

There is sexual assault, torture and straight up r#$pe described in this book with no trigger warning at all. I love this authors Slovig series but I can't respect an author who doesn't care about the mental wellbeing of their readers.
