A Good Book, But Somewhat Disappointing September 24, 1998
"Remember My Touch" is a solid effort, although somewhat disappointing considering the build-up from the other books. Jenny McCullar is still grieving for her husband Mac who was killed five years earlier in a bomb explosion. Suddenly a mysterious stranger shows up at the same time some dangerous events begin to take place. You can probably guess who the stranger is (Wilson doesn't bother to keep it a secret, realizing we're not that dumb. Good for her.) but the story isn't as fulfilling as expected. The part in "Whisper My Love" (Book 2 of the trilogy) where Jenny remembers Mac had me near tears, yet the story of their reunion left me strangely cold. The actual scene where Jenny learns who the stranger is takes forever to arrive and ends rather quickly. The next time they get around to discussing the matter, Jenny is very forgiving and they're back in love, no questions asked. I'm thinking, "That's it???" As for the mystery element, it is eerily reminiscent of the one in "Whisper My Love," including the way it ends. Still, Wilson fills the book with her usual emotion and vivid imagery and the closing paragraphs are beautiful. A good book, for sure. Just not the spectacular one I was expecting.
A fitting conclusion to this three-part series. Through the first two books, the reader is forced to empathize with Jenny, Mac's widow, who is a minor character but one that grips the imagination from the beginning. The reader can't help but wish that Mac hadn't been killed in that car explosion. Now it is Jenny's turn to take center stage. About to become engaged to Senator Trent Richardson, she finds herself drawn to the badly scarred and injured friend of her husband's brother. How can she remarry when she keeps wanting Matt Dawson? Matt has come to help her brother-in-law Chase investigate Mac's murder, but unfortunately, all hell breaks loose once the neighboring ranchers discover that after five years the murderer is once again being hunted.
Mac McCullar a county sheriff close to the Texas/Mexico border. Drug dealers offer him money to look the other way and he said no. That night he got a call and kissed his wife goodbye telling her he would be careful. He got in his truck , turned the key and his truck blows up. The mystery of his death and the mystery man that comes home with his brother Chase is just the beginning. Great read. Loved it.
Enjoyed the book. Had lots of action, mystery to it. Mac McCullar died a violent death five years ago or did he? Now five years later, Jenny finds herself mysteriously attracted to her brother-in-laws friend Matt Dawson. He is scarred and has mobility issues from something in his past but still Jenny is drawn to him. Read what happens as they try to solve drugs being brought in via their property as well as who killed Mac. You will not want to put this book down.
Action packed and fast moving, from the first page to the last. This one has you sitting on the edge of your seat,Trying not to hold your breath for to long.
