Find out what lies ahead for Bilbo and the Dwarves in this easy-to-read storybook that provides an enticing summary of the events in the second film. Fully illustrated with dozens of stills from the film and full-color artwork, this engaging and thrilling film companion reveals the full excitement of the second part in The Hobbit movie trilogy, including the characters and events exclusive to the film!
To be honest, I really only bought this for the exquisite photographs it has in it. I absolutely adore “The Hobbit” and this was a nice companion to the second movie! I think these books are a great way to introduce kids to the fantastic classics we still enjoy today.
Made as a general summary for young children, it glosses over a large majority of the original story. In fact, some parts are blatantly incorrect, by either the standards of the movie or the book.
Spoilers abound! I see it as preparation, rather than spoilers. Advance warning of liberties taken. Like last year, this book basically tells you the entire plot of the upcoming The Desolation of Smaug film, but told in simple language, with many pictures, for children. It's well done for what it is, but do avoid it until after the film if you don't want to know exactly what's going to happen!
This book was amazing. What happens is bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oaken-shield and Gandalf the Gray, along with all the other dwarfs, go back to their original castle to steal back a gem that the king used to be obsessed with called the arkenstone but there is one flaw, where their is gold, usually there is a dragon This castle is filled top to bottom with gold. Will they steal the stone back, or will the dragon get loose, to find out read The Hobbit, The desolation of Smaug.
Some reviewers said this is made for the small children. I would not read this book to kids im working with, vague, doesn't actually tell the story. There is no hook in the text, pictures are beautiful, but that is it. Instead of paying someone to write the text, easier to take original book and place pictures there. This book is like playing charades.
This synopsis of the movie took me about 10 minutes to read. The pictures are very well done, they are from the film. However, I found the allure of The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey: The World of Hobbits by the same author much more enjoyable and informative.
