Welcome to The Castle.

Kaylee Waters has saved her pennies for almost two years, mentally debated for six months, changed her mind no less than two-dozen times and finally purchased a three-day pass to what promised to be the vacation of a lifetime: The Castle, the kinkiest theme-resort-to-end-all-vacation-resorts.

So what if she'd fibbed a little on her online application? (Everyone does!) So what if she'd never "actually" engaged in BDSM before? (She's thought about it a lot.) So what if she'd never even been spanked? (She's read tons of books.) This was the Castle, after all, and it promised to change everything. Unfortunately, her first scenario is a catastrophe and sends her from the room in tears, only to be sent to Master Marshall's office - like a bad girl sent before the principal.

Marshall Leaf, founding partner of The Castle, has seen a lot in the three years since the resort opened, but Ms. Kaylee Waters pretty much takes the prize. As far as he can determine, the only truthful thing on her application is her name, and he's not even completely sure about that. She lied so heinously about her past experiences (which are exactly zilch) that what he should do is refund her money and put her on a fast bus home. Instead, for reasons he can't quite understand, he gives her the first spanking of her life, and then sends her back out into the resort. He doesn't give a damn whether she wanted the spanking or not: it was exactly what she needed.

Kaylee should be ecstatic. She's already gotten a spanking, and The Castle is perfect: everything she's dreamed of - and more. She can be anything she wants: sassy maid, naughty schoolgirl, bad "baby" in the nursery, captured princess in the dungeon. But, even though the ice has been broken, why isn't she still fitting in anywhere? Why does everything just feel wrong? Why does she break the rules again and again, and find herself right back in Master Marshall's office?

Why indeed?

"Kaylee's Keeper" is the second book in Maren Smith's Masters of the Castle series. Set three years after "Holding Hannah: Masters of the Castle Book One, it is a stand-alone story.

Kaylee's Keeper features explicit BDSM themes in a romance setting, including spanking, anal play, mouth-washing, schoolroom play, and lots more. If these themes offend you, don't buy this book.

I am disappointed. I was excited when I found this series. It is such a clever concept - two Doms opening a Scottish castle for a kink vacation resort. How awesome is that!? Apparently, you spend your lifesavings, fill out an online application, choose an alias, and get a pretty wristband. That wristband determines what group you are in based on your experience. This story had potential.

Unfortunately, Kaylee's character ruined it for me. She's never participated in BDSM. She has zero experience. But all that doesn't matter because she has read a ton of erotic novels. She knows what she likes, so she lies on her application. *eyeroll* She can't remember to use her fake name, and she is terrified of her new Master. Eventually, she gets sent to the "principal's office" for lying. She gets her first spanking by Master Marshall and, with his help, she completes another application. However, no matter where she gets placed, she ends back up in his office. She's extremely immature and I couldn't stand being in her mindset. I wanted to smack her. Not in that way! Get your mind out of the gutter guys!

If you can tolerate Kaylee's immaturity, this book isn't all that bad. There are some shocking moments, people acutally do that!? some sweet moments, Oh Master Marshall. and I still freaking love the concept of the book. I am going to try one more book in this series before I decide against finishing it. The first installment has given me enough hope to try one more book. Stay tuned.

This is probably one of the best books I've read in this genre. First, the plot itself was a total fantasy: a Scottish castle where you can live our your BDSM fantasies where Kaylee lies on her application stating she's very experienced. She's not even ever been spanked. Add in a gorgeous Master of the castle who leanrs the truth, delivers her punishment and knows when to push, won't let her off the hook, gives her exactly - no wait, way more than she's looking for but does it with a kind, loving heart. I just want to say I was jealous of Kaylee and so happy for the ending.

The BDSM scenes - and there were a lot - were sensually descriptive, wonderfully written and just to my liking. They touched on so many aspects that it was just thorough and complete. The spanking scenes were absolutely hot hot hot hot hot. Can I say that again? Sex scenes were super hot, sexy. I think my favorite (not to spoil it) was when Master Marshall held Kaylee accountable during the Rainbow Room scene. Just a hint - 2 men, one woman, a spanking and lots lots more.

Writing was lovely. Story was beautiful. Sex and spankings were absolutely some of the best I've ever read. Highly recommend this one.

Okay, after reading Holding Hannah (Masters of the Castle, #1) by Maren Smith by this same author, I was a little hesitant to read this one, but I just saw something in this author, I just knew she had something in her writing that would take me beyond the "fade to black", and OMG am I ever glad decided to keep reading! Where the author went fade to black in the last book, she totally brought it all in this one! I'd give it a full 4.50 rating.

I loved the whole Fantasy Castle concept from the first one but this one brought the idea into full on Role Playing mode.

I felt connected to Kaylee and Master Marshall, I wanted to see them interact. There was a part, close to the end, that I was close to tears, so I liked that the book was able to pull that emotion out of me. I also related to Kaylee in some ways, her bashfulness, shyness, and her inability at times to "say *those* words".

The only real "complaint" if you could even call it that was the constant "working of her fingers" on the hem of her skirt, or just fidgeting, it was constantly described to the point of distraction.

I do recommend this book! It was one I was reluctant to put down, and if I had to, I was anxious to pick it back up again.

This book is pretty much a stand alone book. None of the characters from Holding Hannah are in this one, and Holding Hannah will only give you background on how the actual Castle came to be for this book. This book, obviously, takes place several years later.

As a note to my EZ members, this will be the BDSM BOTM for September so you may want to wait for the group read and/or read Holding Hannah first if you like.. :)

This series has been on my wishlist for too long, and i need a good spanking for waiting so long to start it. Metalkarin told me she loves it,that she recommended i’d read it. Because i love Cherise Sinclair. And she was só right! Being an iTunes reader made them a bit harder to find, but anything this good is more than worth the trouble, trust me. I finally found this beauty on a dutch vendor’s site,bol.com.

Being the first story by Maren Smith i’ve read,it was the perfect choice. Kaylee wants the full experience at the Castle, but thinks if she admits she’s new, will not get what she aims for. Master Marshall, founding partner of the Castle, soon finds out, though and gives her a good spanking for lying. His firm treatment ruins Kaylee for any other scene he comes up with and he decides to guide her through the experience himself. His careful handling of her, even if it’s painful, makes her sink into submission só profound,it’s beautiful to watch.
But she can only stay for 3 days, and he díd say they weren’t a love match....right?

I enjoyed their journey very much, and i’m going to search for more of this series, that’s for sure!

Uhhhh.....yum! I am reading the box set, and the first book was too short for my taste. This book was so right on, for a fantasy club setting. Master Marshall can master me anytime. Kaylee was very naïve but not TSTL. HOT scenes, lots of spanking, but a sprinkling of school girl, maid fantasy, littles, and pony girl. BDSM smorgasbord.

Oh, I’m hooked now!

The Castle provides a great scenery.
The scenes are plenty and diverse.
The subs are mischievous and a appalling mix of experienced and newcomers.
And the Masters ... are simply masterful and devastating and Master Marshall is the icing on the cake!

The Delight
A reunion of lovers with betrayal, love, fear, and truth coming to the forefront. Loving the reunion, but a scene stole my love for the story and set it to an oh, no, you didn't. We all make mistakes, but how you handle it is where I draw the line.
Review
Sara and her boyfriend are trying to reconnect as they have drawn apart. Booking a vacation to the Castle seems like a good way to reconnect, but from the moment they step off the bus, I felt a disconnect with the boyfriend and the way he treated Sara. Nothing horrible, but mostly inconsiderate as we learn Sara is a burn survivor even if we don't learn till later how it happened. The most damaged area is her hip, which stretches painfully, causing her to limp and have to navigate steps slower than in the past. Quickly the two are whisked to Wardrobe to get into their royalty clothing separately.

The boyfriend is excited to show Sara what the Castle has, leading her downstairs impatiently tot he dungeon and right into a fire scene. As you can imagine, Sara promptly panics, tearing her dress as she hides in the men's room and security is called. Head of Castle Security, Jackson, immediately runs to the aid of a traumatized submissive only to be shocked that it is the one woman he loved who ran away from him. He won't let Sara walk away from him this time.

Meeting in Marshall's office, we don't see Sara's side other than she will be returning on the bus in the morning home. Jackson has other plans and gives Marshall notice he is taking a vacation and becoming Sara's Master for her time at the Castle. We get a glimpse of their relationship in the past, what caused her accident, and the same beliefs that keep driving Sara to want away from Jackson. Sara loved BDSM once upon a time, the bite of fire, of the flogger, but when she scenes once with Jackson, she knows she would fall in love with him and he would continue his playboy ways. That was the furthest thing from Jackson's mind. Their once scene wowed him, but her denial of wanting more than friendship floors him. Then Sara's accident happens and Jackson won't leave her side, but she knows he can't love her and checks out of the hospital a day early, disappearing and leaving him wanting. Now he wants payback and that's what ticked me off.

Sara can't see a future for them. Jackson can't get past the feeling of betrayal. One scene goes too far. He spanks her beyond what she can handle even if she never utters her safeword. He goes beyond what he normally tolerates as a Dom, spanking her till his hand hurts a lot. And he dumps her to run off to deal with the emotions of hurt he expressed on her body. This is where I really felt so horrible about Jackson. The one character I adored in Kaylee's Keeper as he was a smiling dominant, one who was worried about safety and talked to Kaylee explaining things. It seemed everything good escaped as he delivered this spanking. And Sara knelt crying she was sorry. Accepting it.

Now if you delete this scene, the story is a little better, but it can't be deleted. If he had apologized for having in essence beaten her, I could have forgiven as this is a spanking book and he would have admitted he made a mistake. We all make mistakes, but a Dom needs to be in control of himself and his anger at all times in a scene. And he wasn't in control of anything.

The story moves on from this point not quite comfortably, but at least conciliatory. With each day she misses the bus, they grow closer, come clean on a few emotions. Jackson doesn't see the burn scars, he sees the woman he fell in love with. Sara starts to believe that he may actually care for her and not need a new woman each night. And when the last bus to leave comes, is she on it? Read and find out yourself.

This was a deeper story on the effects of BDSM scenes going wrong. From fire play to spanking, things aren't always safe even if you do everything right. What happens when they do is what makes a story good or just plain wrong. This had both elements, which caused a complexity I haven't felt twisted like this over in a long time.

We also meet the chef, Connie who is a switch. So far I haven't seen her get her own story, but we see Jackson know when her submissive side, which she hates, needs to be taken care of. And this made me think, how do these submissives falling for working Doms handle their lovers giving other submissive things they need even if it isn't sexual in nature? Like Marshall is the Master of the Castle Masters. He gives the spankings to naughty submissives but also is in a relationship with his secretary, Kaylee. Sam, we don't see as much, but he is also the Dom of Hannah. She helps him with his scenes, but even Hannah wonders why he is attracted to her over them. Jackson is the head of security, so not directly involved in scenes unless they go bad. I can see his job not being much of a problem, but it does have me wondering.

The Castle is a unique place to visit through words. A place you wish you could be a mouse in. Just to watch...yeah I am a voyeur I guess, but only because these stories fascinate me on how they pulled it all off. This story gives me another glimpse at the Castle, but also from the spaces in the Castle for employees, which breaks the regency dream. Catch my next review as we get another story just made for the Castle.

About the Book

Saving Sara By Maren Smith
Once upon a time, Jackson and Sara were friends. Close friends. Friends with benefits, even. For him, making that leap into a committed relationship seemed like a no-brainer. For her, it was scary as hell. Having seen more than one submissive become lost in the illusion of a relationship that was then incapable of surviving in real life, Sara was terrified. She knew she was falling in love, and she had no idea with what: Jackson the reality, or the masterful illusion. Then the accident happened and Jackson was there for her. And that's when Sara knew - she was going to lose herself in the illusion. Terrified, she ran.

Now, years later, Jackson is chief of security for The Castle - the hottest BDSM fantasy resort in the country. Summoned to the dungeon on a trouble call, Sara is the last person he expects to find huddled up against the bathroom wall. After three long years filled with even longer nights, he's had plenty of time to consider all he'd do if ever she fell back into his life. When he sees his chance, he doesn't hesitate. One day - that's all he has before the buses come and Sara runs again. One day to rekindle old passions, to bury old fears, to prove once and for all just what is illusion and what is not.

Publisher's Note: While this is the third book in Maren Smith's hugely popular Masters of the Castle series, it can be read as a standalone, as can all the others. The series numbers are just a guideline as to recommended reading order.

We have Kaylee who saved her money for 2 years to go on this kinky vacation. She lied on her application as to how much experience she has with bdsm. When the "Lord" of the castle Master Marshall finds out he spanks her and she gets to spend the night with him and of course she falls for him. For me this story was to heavy into beatings and he sure liked to humiliate her. Instead of easing her into this lifestyle he threw her into it and of course she made mistakes for which she was punished. It's good that this is fiction because she would not have been able to walk with the many spankings and rough use of her body. As it is it took 2 weeks for the last mark to vanish from her body. I wanted more romance and did not get it with this book.

This was fun book. The setting was very well done and I could see all the different parts of the castle. My favorite being the steps Kaylee ran back up from the dungeon. That was one of my favorite scenes in this book. I won't elaborate beyond that. No spoilers.
The story moved along at a very nice pace, stayed interesting and gave the reader something to look forward to in each new chapter. I love the variety the castle has to offer.
The relationship between Kaylee and MM is stirring and I loved the ending.

So, I went looking for a title starting with "K" for one of my A-Z challenges and found this book. Being the obsessive person I am I had to read the first in the series before this book. The first did not impress me much, but imagine my surprise when I really liked this book. There was some suspension of belief, ok, maybe a lot, but it was still good. Well written, great characters and much more in depth than the first book in the series.

This was not my cup of tea... Too much on the sadistic, pain for punishment side of things. The Dom was kind in a detached way when not in a scene, degrading in a detached way during scenes.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

What an amazing story that gives the reader such a view of life at the Castle. As a reader, I felt like a voyeur witnessing the scenes along the journey, especially as Master Marshall conducted his business and what the guest Kaylee experienced. Life in books does not compare to experience, and it doesn’t’ take long for the wayward Kaylee to discover that. The Castle prides itself on anonymity. You really won't find a safer place to play, anywhere.

“Kaylee wanted to feel owned in every possible and sensual sense of the word.”

The plot will have Kaylee, along with a friend, Selena, arriving at the Castle for a three-day stay. Selena had been there before and enjoyed the role of a schoolgirl, but then again, there is more to that role with a strict headmaster. But Kaylee and her lies will compound, and she will discover quickly how those lies lead to problems. To listen herself as an experienced player with no restrictions is as far as the east is to the west.

“This was a fantasy, after all. Just a fantasy. She’d saved up for two years, flown halfway across the country, and then bussed for two hours just to get here, and really, it wasn’t real. She knew that—never mind how scary it all looked or (even scarier) how it unexpectedly felt.”

The story will have Kaylee arriving and taken to the dungeon where she lasts all of a few moments before she is screaming and running away crying. The trip to Master Marshall’s office and she still is hesitant, to be honest about her lack of any experience. What the story will show is the various erotic play within the Castle walls, from the dungeon to the nursery, to the schoolroom, a Little Maid, voyeur to others at play including flogging, shibari, and a trip to the stable to even experience being a Pony Girl.

“Dominants are people first. We are kind, considerate, gentle, loving, affectionate, concerned, strong, stern and oft times quite determined disciplinarians all wrapped up in very human-seeming packages.”

“We are all driven to start this journey by desires we barely understand, but there is a big difference between fantasy and real life. Almost everyone who comes here is grown up enough to admit they have questions.”

There is a chemistry between Master Marshall and Kaylee, and he will agree not to place her with another Master and instead he will collar her for a night or two while he tries to help her experience what the Castle offers, a kinky-inclined resort to end all fantasy resorts.

“Master Marshall wasn’t her match. He wasn’t her Mr. Right. He was simply a very intoxicating, very convenient and very real Mr. Right Now.”

But what happens after she experiences three days of fantasy and it is time to leave? Master Marshall has repeatedly stated to her that this is not a love match. Her time there couldn’t even compare to what she had imagined, it was so much more. How will she go back to her life back home? She must leave the Castle and Master Marshall, the sensual devil with those angel-blue-eyes.

“Because of all the things Master Marshall had done for her, the best had perhaps been to show her who she really was. He had found a tiny piece of her that no amount of fantasizing could every have exposed.”

Kaylee arrived at The Castle under false pretenses. Everything on her check sheets was a lie except her name. Her fantasies loomed so large and long in her mind that she just knew what she wanted.....until she didn't. After unsuccessfully trying to fulfill her fantasy scenarios three times she ends up in Master Marshall's, Master of the Castle, office. He seems to be the only one who is able to tap into her needs. Needs she doesn't even know she has. He keeps her as his his"good girl" submissive for the remainder of her weekend, gently but firmly introducing her to the lifestyle and overcoming her fears all the while reminding her that this is not a love thing. Only one problem....it has become one for her. At the end of her weekend her releases her and sends her hom only to show up two weeks later to ask her to wear his collar and try to be a love thing.

There are things I really enjoyed about this book and then there are others that were completely crazy-making to me. Kaylee as a character was probably the most crazy-making thing in the book. In a lifestyle that requires trust on a level deeper than we give to most people – even our families – the fact that Kaylee repeatedly lied her butt off, made me wish Master Marshall had just stuffed her back on that bus in the first place. Master Marshall himself was the book’s saving grace for me. However, if I read “this is not a love match” one more time, my reader was going to learn whether or not it could fly. I have to give this book credit for covering a very broad range of possibilities, and for being hotter than the surface of the sun.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.

E dai. Ti fa già perdere tutte le speranze in lei

Kaylee's lies

Kaylee had saved up for two years for a vacation at The Castle, a BDSM resort. She lies in her application and says she's experienced but she's only ever engaged in BDSM in her mind. She doesn't want to be coddled so she lies and then panics when it's all too real. She's and too Master Marshall for punishment.

She's scared but drawn to MM and he shows her the ecstasy of this world. There's scenes with a lot of spankings, with and without implements. Anal, public sex, humiliation - it's all here. Hot and consensual.

If ever there was a storyline that addressed all the fears and hopes of a first time submissive with all the perils and joys that come along with the unknown, Maren Smith has addressed them in this book. All the mistakes, fears, repercussions, along with the discoveries, wonders, and pleasure that were so beautifully laid out between Master Marshall and Kaylee. I think this book delightfully sums up the fantasy of most first time subs. And when you read it, you'll wonder like I did, 'Could it be possible?'

Wow you need to meet the Castle Master!

Im not submissive but heck Master Marshall i submit.

From book fantasy to castle reality can clearly be terrifying and amazing at the same time.

A look at the castle now its up and running every fantasy available under one roof. Personalised too! If only it existed.

Well written tension, stress, worry of being a new sub lying and getting caught but beautifully punished

The discovery in this book by both dom and sub was really great. The background characters and scenes are just as good! This series is not as cotton candy sweet as a lot of series. It holds more BITE which brings the sweet parts in hyper focus and made me cry ugly tears.
