Author of the Bold Monkey series, Freddy Gonzalez teaches 9th grade English (SPE) in Upstate New York. He is inspired by his three children, and the students he serves every week.
When I read the first entry in the Bold Monkey series, I thought it was a great story for younger readers, showing itself to be exciting and creative, and acting as a great story to share with a younger person. And it is! But what I didn't know at the time was that it was going to be a series!
Here we are on the third entry, and with each addition to the story we see the POV zoom out a little and give us more insight into how big and creative the story world is! Enzo Leaves the Jungle gives us new characters and locations, new insights into some of the events from the previous entries, and a new challenge for the heroes to face.
The series continues to be very easily digestible, but at the same time it is very entertaining for all ages. The characters, old and new, continue to be very charming and likeable (I really liked Vivian), and the stakes are surprisingly steep! When it's all over, the book sets up the reader for future installments, and you'll certainly be ready for more!
I originally read the paperback in order to see the author's charming art. Afterwards, I picked up a copy for my Kindle. I fully recommend this book, along with its entire series!
