A native New Yorker, Chris Keniston was on her way to Australia when she fell in love with North Texas. Little did she know the balmy seventy-degree October days would turn into fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk heat in August!

Twenty years later, she started scribbling short stories about her favorite TV shows, giving them lives more to her liking - and the elusive happy ending. Not long after, a dear friend dragged her to a local writers’ meeting. After winning multiple writing contests and making the finals in the Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart contest, she now spends her days, and nights, writing contemporary romantic fiction with lots of emotion, plenty of surprises, and, of course, the happily ever after.

Chris lives in suburban Dallas with her husband, two human children, and two canine children. Though she loves her puppies equally, she admits being especially attached to her German Shepherd rescue named Gunny. After all, even dogs deserve a happily ever after.

Light-hearted with many laugh-out-loud moments.

Wow, July 25, 2018 and this is the sixth time I've read this story. I absolutely adore it...hook, line, and little sister! This is one of my all-time favorite reads. I was in the mood for light and funny and this was perfect.

I absolutely love this book and it was hilarious in so many places. My son had to turn the TV volume up because he had trouble hearing over my laughter. The author is brilliant and weaves a tale to the best of all possible outcomes. There was little angst and the love story one of the sweetest I have read for a lighthearted book.

We have Michelle Bradford whose fiance, Steven, ditched her just days before the wedding. He discovered he was in love with her best friend and the two of them are leaving the next day to fly to Vegas and get married. Michelle is shocked and embarrassed and wants to avoid the spectacle this will make in their small hometown. Her friends convince her to go on her honeymoon alone and leave her conservative, stuffy side behind. I have this tagged as 'No Cheating' and that may not be exactly accurate. The heroine's boyfriend had cheated once but it did not happen in the book and although nothing excuses cheating...absolutely nothing...it is somewhat easy to see how it happened. Michelle loved Stephen but more like a friend. She wasn't 'in love' with him. He was comfortable and when she lost her parents and took over raising her sister, he was there. But truthfully, it was more a convenience. They dated for two years then were engaged for five. She spent very little time with him because of her mothering responsibilities and taking care of her younger sister. When Stephen had business dinners to attend she would send her best friend, Beth, as a stand in. Eventually, Beth and Stephen fell deeply for each other and it was then that Stephen realized he was not 'in love' with her and his relationship was not what it should have been with Michelle.

So off Michelle goes on her honeymoon alone. It is on the cruise ship where she meets Kirk and they spend ten, thrilling, fun, sexy days and nights together. He is a man-whore to some degree and for those of you, like myself, who despise them, this is a safe read. He’s with no one else once he meets the heroine. They each knew this was a temporary liaison and didn’t share personal information but it was clear they had developed feelings for one another. He swore he would never marry or be involved in a long-term relationship and our heroine knew that. She wasn’t looking for anything either. She just got rid of an ex she didn’t love. The company Michelle works for is having serious difficulties and a troubleshooter has been contracted and will be arriving the day she returns to work after her 'honeymoon.' Guess who?? So as best as I can tell Kirk wasn’t intimate with any other woman between leaving the cruise ship on Saturday and starting the job on Monday.

I highly recommend this book and this author. I loved every second of this story! Thanks, Chris, for such an entertaining read!

Light, short, with steam and a sweet HEA.

I liked it a lot even though it’s somewhat predictable. I mean, come on? How do you think someone will end up going on a “honeymoon for one”?

I enjoyed Michelle’s strong but also fun loving character and her inner shopgirl adviser, especially that she worked through her undesirable circumstances. It was also funny each time Kirk gave his best friend grief for buying into the American dream and ineffectively attempting to deny the fact he was falling for it himself.

Dumped by her fiance to marry their best friend and urged on by other friends Michelle takes off on her honeymoon cruise alone. There she meets the cynical 'Kirk' who's on board for his annual sex 'em and leave 'em 'no questions asked/no personal details swapped' type fling. Which suits the normally reserved Michelle who not only let her hair down during the cruise but her panties too. No surprise. Ten days later they part ways never expecting to see each other again but in this fate will not cooperate.

Okay my thoughts.

Romance is: Kirk aka Lloyd disembarking and having a revelation in the very near future that he can't do without the mysterious Michelle after all and he's going to move heaven and earth to find her if it takes him years...but in this novella he walks away with equal parts regret and relief determined to hang on to his 'work hard, play harder' mantra. For this I barely warmed up to his character though he did improve slightly as the story unfolded. I just dunno though...a man who cruises annually for anonymous sex and uses a fictitious name?

See I'm a die hard romance fan, emphasis on the romance. I want to feel the love, the focus, the drive, the determination, the desperation to be with that person no matter what. I don't want fate stepping in and providing all the bloody answers.

This isn't a terrible book but there wasn't anything in this book to really make it stand out at all. It was an enjoyable book and kept me interested. It was just kind of so so in the story.

This is one of the best free Kindle books that I have come across in a while. I really enjoyed it. I think it was the perfect length, and the story line was really good!

Michelle had been engaged to marry Steven. Steven, and Michelle spent a lot of time with Beth, Michelle’s best friend. 3 days before the wedding, Beth and Steven came over to talk to Michelle…She found out she was being dumped, and that Steven was about to marry her best friend.

What’s a girl to do? The honey moon was paid for, so she took a honey for one! She meet Kirk, and had a wonderful, steamy two weeks in paradise.

When she got back from vacation, she found out she may lose her job, because of cut backs. She also found out she would have a new boss. She almost passed out when she found out who she would be working for.

If you want to curl up with a good romance, start reading this one, I think you will enjoy it!

Honeymoon for One is like watching a mindless Lifetime channel love story, without the violence. I loved this story, it held my interest and I finished reading the book in a day. It was lighthearted and a beautifully writing story about a woman, Michelle who is betrayed by her best friend, Beth and fiance, Steven. As the title would suggest, she decides to go on her honeymoon, alone and meets Kirk, with all intentions of "living it up" for 10 days. The characters are well developed and well written. There isn't too much I can say that disappointed me in the story, it didn't feel predictable, although the story idea isn't anything new, Chris Keniston kept it fresh and exciting to read. I wanted to know where she was going to take the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading from Kirk's point a view and I could see the change happening in him. I am looking forward to read more stories from this author.

Just days before her wedding, Michelle Bradford is jilted and her best friend runs off to Vegas with her fiancé. Her friends persuade her to go on her honeymoon cruise so she does. There she meets hunky Kirk and has a fling.

Not a great fan of novellas and yet I continually read them anyway. Go figure! But this book was fun. There wasn't anything particularly unique but I did enjoy it.

This was a wonderful book!!! I loved how real the characters seemed ... I only wish for more of what happened next, I wish the epilogue was longer and told us more...

My thoughts exactly:
-I hate Both the Rat Bastard a.k.a Steven and Beth
-Kirk is ... Awesome,Amazing ... Why?? Why did he give up and went out of his way to look for her??? Now he's Awesome again ... I love him ;)
-Corrie is fun
-Michelle is real and a wonderful character
-I loved the end
-Still hate the Rat Bastard and his wife Beth ...

What to say about this book? I have read so many books lately - I think working in publishing would have been a good career.

This book is a very quick read. But the storyline is something that you would likely see as a comedy movie. The characters don't have much depth but the plot moves along quickly so you keep reading it.

There is light sex - definitely not erotic.

The story is based on Michelle a small town girl who is dumped by her fiancé three days before the wedding. But she decides to go on the honeymoon cruise that was planned by herself. While on the cruise she meets Kirk. They have fun and she crawls out of her shell. When she returns to her small home town where her best friend Beth, married Steven her ex, life is difficult. It gets even more difficult when the efficiency consultant who comes and takes over as her boss is none other than Kirk from the cruise.

I read this as an ebook and it is a free download on Amazon

AUTHOR: This is a “Friendship to Love” plot and Chris Keniston kept it rolling. Can you spell “shock with romance with laughter”? Chris can. Lastly, allow me to get this straight from me to you. I AM NOT a friend of the author. I DO NOT KNOW the author. I DO NOT say things in a review to be nice. I keep it real.

GENRE: Modern day Romance.

SETTING: small town Bluffview America to a cruise ship and back to Bluffview

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTERS: She carried herself like a librarian though she worked for a newspaper. Practicality was necessary as she tried to be a most perfect example to her younger sister. Her two best friends had seen her through thick and thin. She had grown to rely on them and them on her.

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: One man did not see the world as she did and yet he was as protective of her regardless of the situation. He was honest about his feelings but a little stuffy. The second man lived to have fun. He worked hard and rewarded himself by traveling. Same old, same old and a player at best.

SYNOPSIS: The signs were all there but she never saw it coming. As a result her friends pushed her out the door and onto a boat. With an “angel” on one shoulder and the “shop girl” on the other shoulder; she redefined herself overnight.

To him, she was refreshing as compared to the same old, same old. He loved the way her eyes sparkled when she tried something new. She was like a kid in a candy store. However, all fun must come to an end or “no”?

SEXUAL EXPLICITNESS: Two (2) sexual events but not over the top and I don’t like over the top. (3) groin; (5) breasts; (1) hard-on; (1) arousal; (2) nipples; (10) uses of the word “shit” (I DO NOT use profanity but I must admit in many cases his use of the word was hilarious considering what was happening at the time); Well that’s about it.

WHAT I LIKED: The author did not get hung up on sex. (1) party (1) car accident (1) get out of jail and I enjoyed the funny parts.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Actually could not put the book down. Ya’ know how many books have such a slow start. Well guess what. Nope. Did not happen.

I give this book (5) stars because a good book must have some hilarity. Furthermore, this book continuously moved to the groove. This was my first time reading this author’s books and HONEYMOON FOR ONE is now on my list of romance favs. I’m COMING BACK to his author for more.

Contemporary jilted bride right before her perfect wedding where her fiance runs off with her best friend from kindergarten, Beth and a vacation fling that turns into a HEA.
So Michelle Bradford is from a tiny town and she decides to get out of Dodge when her fiance runs off to Vegas to marry her best friend, so she goes on the paid honeymoon vacation on a cruise in the tropics and on the first day she decides to give up her up-tight personality and have some fun. So she lets go and tries a lot of new experiences with Kirk a stranger that she has a cruise fling. So she goes back to her real life in small town America and the first day of work she meets the new boss 'Lloyd' who is actually Kirk! So the romancing begins and lots of adapting and change for everyone. I think that Michelle was way too nice to her rat bastard ex-fiance and her ex-best friend, she should have avoided them for the rest of her life, but I guess falling in love and starting a new life is just as good.
Cute story where you don't hate the rat bastard ex-fiance too much which is surprising and shows how good this author can write.

2.5, 3 stars...basically, I liked it, but for being so short, I can't go much higher because we just miss out on too much. It is short, sweet, and predictable. However, I think if you go into it knowing that, its an enjoyable little read. I liked the characters (except for Steven and Beth--I mean WTF is up with that?) Anyhoo, cute story.

Hated. She forgave her best friend and fiancé for cheating behind her back. No chemistry between her and the main Guy. And her sister literally had a new problem every chapter she lied, got arrested and then went to jail and then she was complaining her life is so boring and her sister doesn’t trust her. So stupid

Exactly what I needed right now! Fluffy, sweet, tender, fast paced and lovely. I liked the MCs, I liked that Kirk wasn't the jerk he could've been, that Michelle wasn't too hard headed, and that everything worked out with just enough drama to make things interesting. Great escapist read!

Your groom runs off with your maid of honor and best friend. What is a girl to do but go ahead and go on the honeymoon cruise by herself. On the way, Michelle purchases new and more updated clothes than she normally wears and intends to enjoy herself on the cruise.

Kirk is on the cruise to relax between jobs. He and Michelle hit it off and spend the cruise together- parasailing, windsurfing, dancing, etc. Michelle allows herself to have a shipboard romance to remember when she returns home.

Upon returning to her home and her little sister, Michelle resumes her job at the newspaper only to learn they were taken over by another group and a hatchet man is coming to turn the paper around and make it run in the black not red. This morning when the man arrives, it is no other than Lloyd Kirkland McEntire- her shipboard romance.

Between troubles with the paper, anger at Kirk, problems with her sister, having to see her ex-fiancé and ex-best friend now happily married, and a distinct possibility of losing her job, Michelle is in a turmoil. What else can happen?

Honeymoon for one was an enjoyable story to read, I found the plot plausible and interesting. It had a good length necessary to untangle the plot.

I must say that some ideas in this story is like any others, a man meets a girl from a period of time, then they stop seeing each other and suddenly one day the find each other working for the same place, where the man is always the boss the woman is the employee who can lose her job.
Any way, besides of that I found this is a good story, with betrays, love, family and parenting, reading it is enjoyable. It can read in a week, if you are a slow reader and reads in your second lenguage, English.

I like the development of the characters; basically three. Kirk, Michell and Michell's teenager sister. I must say that I did not expected the male character will mature that much during the time, it surprised me, that is a good point. I liked the male character the most, because he was the one who could developed better his personality; he turned to be a persona any of us thought he would not become.

A very entertaining read. I found the plot mostly believable except that the h had no clue that something was happening between her fiancé and her BFF. Really?no clue at all? But I like the honeymoon fling and the chance meeting afterwards. I love how the H always finds himself going to see the h at her house, by her desk, etc but without clear intentions. He is compelled to be with her but resists it just enough to stay true to his initial character without acting like a jerk. Although he tries to resist falling in love, no one can see his internal struggle. All his actions show a man falling in love. I love the side characters too. His best friend. Her little sister. I would have changed some parts of the h-BFF-fiancé interactions but on the whole I'm ok with it. The ending was a bit rushed but on the whole it's a good book.

Totally delightful beach read. I love Chris Keniston's romances! The woman are so strong and fun and the guys are so hot but there is always a feeling that they could be people I know.

Michelle's doomed wedding leaves her with lots of expenses and a ticket to a honeymoon cruise. When her friends finally convince her to go alone, she discovers a side of herself that she never imagined existed. After two weeks with an amazing guy she figures she will never see again, she heads home to her very ordinary life resigned to being the same dull woman she has been for too many years. Until...I am sure you can guess what comes next but it is so fun and Ms Keniston makes it a unique reading experience that any romance readers should love.

Was really good. I enjoyed my first read by his author. After having her wedding cancelled & her fiancé & best friend getting married in Vegas, Michelle goes on her honeymoon to get away. What she doesn't expect is to enjoy herself or to meet someone. Michelle & Kirk have a great time together & when it's done they're both unhappy but neither is ready to change the situation. Fate is funny though when Kirk is hired on to restructure the newspaper that Michelle works for & things seem to change for both of them with a few surprises thrown in. I loved the interaction between Michelle, Kirk & her little sister Corrie, it was sweet & funny at times. This definitely won't be my last read by this author.

I loved how it was written, it was engaging and there was only one part where it lagged a little. The story was nice although I wish Michelle had gotten angry with Beth and Steven, instead of being so passive. It would of been nice if she had spent some time discovering herself or something during the cruise, or right after she got home. Not much happened after the cruise until near the end.

Harmless but quite a stretch

This was a middle of the road book for me. The author has some writing skills, so "Honeymoon for One" reads better than most books in this price tier (I got it for free). But all in all I found it a little boring. And having the hero show up in the heroine's home town was more than a little bit of a stretch.

If you are looking for a pure fluff read, this is a decent bargain. But the depth and believability was a step below a Harlequin Presents, so if you need more in a story, best to steer clear.

This was a bookbub free read that I read on the phone. Light reading, story of a woman who is about to be married and her fiance and best friend elope to Vegas, so she goes on the honeymoon cruise on her own. Meets great guy, has a fling, doesn't even know his last name, so expects never to see him again. Well I guessed the next 2 plot points, so no surprises. Did not feel in a rush to finish, as I do with some of my phone books (go home and finish on the Kindle)but a good, standing in line or waiting for the movie to start book.

This book was all right, but nothing special. The ending felt rushed and I was mildly bored throughout the entire book. What I found most annoying was how the heroine never examined her relationship before she was jilted at the altar. It made no sense for her to be in a relationship for 5-7 years and NOT know she didn't love her fiancé. It just didn't ring true for me and the book went down hill from there. It was good for a short one off read, like the beach read the cover suggests it to be, but not worth keeping or recommending to others.

Jilted bride decides to go on the planned honeymoon voyage, and for that short time become someone else: behave less boring, less examplary, than before, and forget about having to look after her younger sister. Of course, she meets a man, they have a great time, no commitments, just like she wants. Also of course, it does not quite go as planned.
If some of the plot had been less unlikely, it would have been a better story. However, I have read worse. This was quite an amusing romance, with some humour in it, and although very predictable, still entertaining enough.

This book would have been fine if it had stayed in the "Sweet" territory. The beginning of the book handled love scenes very well. There were no details, but you could tell they were intimate. Later on in the story, there was a random graphic scene and I honestly felt it would have been better written like the others-- tender, sweet, no details, and over quickly (so the reader could move onto the story portion). Overall, sweet, escapist type fiction, but no real depth of character or plot.
