Tess Beckett was not the type of woman to tell a lie. But that was before the man on the other end of the line asked if she had found his lost dog – a dog she believed was her guardian angel. On that day, she lied about finding Blue, a loyal and loving Golden Retriever who had quickly found his place in her home and her heart.
Now, Tess and her Lodge guests, a mother and daughter forced to surrender their own dog after one final weekend together, and a young reporter in search of ghosts, may all pay the price for Tess’ dishonesty.
I'm a small town gal living deep in the Canadian wilderness where 6 feet of snow is completely normal, black bears visit regularly and the view from the back porch is breathtaking.
I have always been a dog person and when I'm not tapping away at my laptop, I love hanging out with my favorite pal Tucker, an Australian Shepherd, who is as smart as a whip, stubborn as a mule and as loyal as, well.....a dog. Tucker has taught me some very important lessons in life and all he asks in return is to share my home and my heart. I am very grateful for the love of my dog.

This is the second book of the series. It’s a cozy mystery and very enjoyable and very easy reading. I enjoyed all the characters in the book. In this book, Tess has two guests arriving at the lodge along with a big snow storm. One guest is a young journalist who is there to write a story for the newspaper. The other guests are a young Mom, her daughter, and their dog. Meanwhile Max and the stray Blue go to the fishing hut to fish. Meanwhile a mean gruff looking man with a beard demand Tess hand over his dog! Also, Taylor, the journalist is physically frightened by the man’s behavior. The snow storm causes electrical problems in the cabins and Tess tells her guests to come to the main lodge. They are all frightened by the man’s actions and hide in the attic. Meanwhile Blue and Max are headed back to the lodge. Tess hears Blue asking to come in but he doesn’t want to come in. Tess follows Blue and leads her to the old man collapsed but with an axe in his hand. The rest of the book tells who the man is and what happens to Tess’es guests. Of course there is a happy ending for all since it is a cozy mystery! I will definitely read book #3
I enjoyed both books of this series. The story is told without a great deal of extra words, which I have found, never add to the content, just the length. Nicely written, solid story, and I hope there will be more in this series. Not too long and not too short. I can read in one sitting. A refreshing change from most out there.
A snowstorm, a journalist looking for a story, a Mom and daughter hoping for a fun weekend before having to go back to real life, a man suffering with Alzheimer's and a chance for a new life path. Blue is unbelievable, it makes you wonder could he really be Tom? Beautiful story of fear, learning the truth, forgiveness and love. Great job. Thank you.
Blue was so much fun to read. It shared a dog's love and loyalty. The people in the story were fun too. The lodge feels like a great place to visit. Also there was some grief and sad stories but they are part of life. This book was good from start to finish.
I love stories about dogs. I have two myself, and there's no way I can convey how much I love them, but Colette Makes has captured it. Tess's dog, Blue, has been her help to get over a crushing loss and finding a new life again. It's a good read! Not long, you can finish it in an evening!
I loved getting to know Tess and Blue better. I wish this story had more books. With the lodge bringing in new people, new stories naturally follow. Thinks Ms. Makray could crafty a lot more stories/books! I am on a dog book trend so I would be glad to continue reading them. Especially the first book left Brandon without out a dog..
I enjoyed all the characters and their story lines. It had a little suspense, family time, and a very nice love story, as well as Blue, the wonderful dog, that taught the characters a lesson.
Tess runs a beautiful lodge with a beautiful dog. The dog she rescued plays a major role in the tale. A terrible snow storm, and many people with amazing stories build an amazing story. A great read.
Another sweet story about the Beckett Lodge. This one seemed more about people than dogs, and the book contained some sorrow, but we still have a "happily-ever-after" ending, so I'm good. :)
An excellent easy read that every dog owner would enjoy reading there’s a little mystery thrown in as well as some interesting ice fishing do yourself a favor, and read this book
I loved both of the Beckett Lodge books. Such heart felt stories, felt like I was there with them. Looking forward to reading more books by Colette Makray.
True Blue Beckett Lodge #2 is a great story of a dog named Blue and how he showed his love and care to the owner of the lodge. Blue, helps solves the ghost mistress scaring all the guests. 😳 🐾 💙 🦮
In a sad depressed state it made me realize what I needed to do for the people I love and will mark my dying. I now too must venture into the writing world with a story not as I planned but rather as I feel.
Truly an animal lover's story. Quick read with just enough intrigue to keep the reader interested. The interaction between animals and their human family is awesome.
I want to thank the author for two of the most beautiful books I have read in a long time. I hope you keep writing for a long time, you have so much to offer.
