Andrea Donovan became a counselor for soldiers who were addicted and has PSTD in an effort to atone for not seeing the addiction her brother had. She tries through her work to lessen the guilt she feels over his death. Josh Walker, Army first sergeant, feels his own guilt over Andrea's brother's death and is determined that Andrea will not be harmed as he tries to figure out why one of his men is involved with men who are now trying to kill Andrea. He and Andrea fight for their lives as they try to solve the mystery. The more involved in the mystery they become, the move involved with each other they become.

This great story about Andrea and Josh kept me guessing and had some wonderful twists. Andrea is being threatened and pursued by mystery murderers and she and Josh have to figure out why before its too late. The suspense combined with a strong heroine and a handsome, conflicted hero, made for a killer romance set against the backdrop of a Georgia military base. I stayed up way too late reading because I couldn't put it down!

I liked the history and relationship between Andrea and Josh, although their reconnection after 17 years seemed overly convenient. I appreciated that the duo did involve the police throughout the investigation and did not go lone wolf, like teams sometimes do. I liked how they overcame their individual guilt complexes, but the story itself was hard to get into.

Fourth novel I've read by Jodie Bailey, and she's becoming one of my favorite authors. This one is excellent at leaving you wondering which of the supporting characters are to be trusted and which not so much. The consistent action keeps you at the edge of your seat.

An awesome read by a new-to-me author!

This is one of the most well-constructed, clever plots in this genre that I've ever read.

This book is completely clean in language and content.

I borrowed this book from the local pubic library.

3½ at the outside. This was a romance novel by recipe. What turned me off was the female protagonist, a combat veteran, was unable to care for herself and needed to be rescued until the very end of the book. Would she have shown that spunk earlier.

"TOP PICK! Bailey skillfully addresses the stigma associated with mental health services and the military. As a military wife, Bailey generates characters and a plot that are multi-layered and wonderfully unpredictable (RT Book Reviews)". 4 1/2 stars

I thought the beginning and end were really good. The middle was a little slow but otherwise it's definitely a book worth buying. Enjoy reading!
