For many of us, life seems to be a constant scramble for more "stuff"—from fancier cars, to the latest electronic gadgets, from fine clothes to extravagant vacations. And if we fall short in our pursuit, we feel left out or depressed.
But are these the things that really matter in life? Hardly.
What's really important are some of the simplest gestures, events and values—like a hug and a sunrise, courage and kindness, afternoon naps and hot summer nights.
The first-person stories in this book celebrate simple pleasures like these. And they show how focusing on these little things can help you overcome hardship and find great value in your life. Read these words and you'll be encouraged, enlightened and enriched from head to soul.
Definitely a hallmark book with fun cozy short stories about how people and experiences matter more than things and money. Of course I loved reading this and relaxing with it!
Some of the short anecdotes were tearjerkers, a few of them were funny, and most of them made me think. This was a quick read, and tapped emotions that I often work hard to suppress or ignore. I'm not sure if I would have chosen the same 50 things that really matter, but books like this force you to reflect and remember what is truly important in life.
The Author of the book talks about the fifty things that really matter in life. This book really makes you think about your life and even everyone else's lives, the people that surround you; friends and family. It helps you understand that there are bigger things and smaller things in life, it can even help you solve any issues that you might have. 50 Things really put you in someone else's shoes and gives you different perspectives on pondering life.
My nightly read before I turn out the lights ..... particularly good in these tumultuous times to balance my brain. So when I finish rereading this, I will start again from the beginning to remember what to be thankful for.
It’s the simple things in life that really matter. It’s not money or things. It’s family, faith, music... The last quote is good-“happiness is a choice and you are the one responsible for it.”
I enjoyed this book very much. It delivered exactly what I was looking for--well written flash stories about things that matter. I wanted something inspiring but not too taxing to read.
