Review: 4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Unseen is the most wonderful follow up to Unknown, the first book in The Elements trilogy and begins where it left off.

Princess Kyla of Taramon along with her best friend and fellow seeker Jethro continue their search for the missing elements in order to fulfil a forbidden prophecy. Their trek takes them through treacherous terrain and life threatening obstacles in order to save the kingdoms from looming darkness. The action packed and fast-paced journey they had to make kept me on the edge of my seat anxious to see what would happen.

There were many intense, suspenseful moments that made for an enthralling read, with the dangers they had to face with the elements surrounding them as well as the dark forces of Ashan’s Army; we get the perfect mix of action, betrayal, challenges and suspense.

Both Kyla and Jethro showed a great deal of strength and courage in this book and continue to develop. The forbidden romance causes some tension but progresses despite Kyla being betrothed to Athra, the chemistry and sweet moments between them was perfect.

I have enjoyed the strong world-building and captivating plot right from the onset, the prophecy is fascinating and the journey the characters had to take and what they had to endure made for a fast-paced read; I was eager to see the outcome of Kyla and Jethro’s quest and I still adore Adamar and Mya and the wisdom they shared plus new additions Eshron and Cori.

Having read a few book by Melissa Pearl now, her writing just gets better and better and the details she provides draws you into the vivid setting and the story which at times was quite emotional, I couldn’t flick the paghe fast enough during some scenes.

Overall, Unseen is a gripping sequel in The Elements Trilogy filled with danger, action and a sweet budding romance. The ending left me gaping so I am definitely eager to read the final book it the trilogy, Unleashed.

Thank-you kindly to Melissa Pearl for the opportunity to read and review Unseen.

Although I hardly ever finish a book in one day, Unseen seems to be the latest exception to the rule. The seekers, Kyla and Jethro, together with the first two elements, Adamar and Mya, continue their perilous journey to find the other two elements. The young people have to face storms in frozen wastelands, pursuit by the king's evil Elite, and dragon-infested caverns on a volcanic mountain in order to find the light that could save the world. At the same time Athra faces betrayal of the worst kind and has to make impossible decisions.

Unseen is a fast-moving page-turner full of adventure and no small amount of suspense. As this story is written from multiple points of view, the reader is aware of what the good as well as the bad guys are doing at any given time. This makes for some truly nail-biting moments throughout the book. The forbidden love between Kyla and Jethro adds a bittersweet poignancy to the tale. As Athra, Kyla's husband to be, is a good man, one feels sorry that he may be the one who could get hurt in the end.

If these brilliantly crafted characters crept into my heart in the first book of the series, this one fixed them there. I could feel with Kyla and Jethro as they struggled against a love that shouldn't be and I sympathized with Athra who has to deal with betrayal and make decisions which could endanger the city of Taramon. I loved that the heroes in this book are just people who can feel fear and know that they are not invincible.

There is a wealth of wisdom written into the pages of Unseen, one of which is this:

“There is a mystery within the unseen. You do not know what your future holds. All you have to do is trust that the best waits for you. The desires of your heart will one day come true.”

For a book full of non-stop adventure, suspense, a touch of romance and quite a bit of depth, I highly recommend Unseen by the brilliantly gifted Melissa Pearl and happily give it a well-deserved five stars. (Ellen Fritz)

This book picks up right where Unknown leaves you with just as much action and suspense as it's prior novel. I never thought that I could love a sequel as much (or more) than first in the series, but this series really broke the mold for me. It seems as if the story is only getting better and yet there's still another book out there waiting for us!

The bond forming between Kyla and Jethro is so sweet, and I have to admit I'm totally Team Jethro here. Jethro is such a loving character, sacrificing his feelings to try to make Kyla's transition to Queen, as well has her marriage to Athra, easier for her. In this installment, the sparks fly between Jethro and Kyla, and I can't even begin to say how pleased I am with this!

The two new elemental children found in this book brought even more interesting quirks to the story. I loved the Icy and Flaming turmoil that these courageous children worked through. The challenges faced in book one were only a taste of the challenges that they come across in the second book - especially the volcano!

Athra grew as a character in this installment, but I have to admit that overall, I lost a lot of faith in his character. The events that occurred (although magically caused) were just insane, and I really feel that he should have known better.

The best part of this book? A fantastically created character that I couldn't stand finally got his/her come uppins! *sigh!* I can't wait for the final installment in this series!

Note: I received this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Kyla and Jethro are the seekers of the prophecy and have already found two of the elements, and now have to find the other two immortal elements children of air and fire. At the same time they have to fight their growing love for each other and Kyla is lacking in faith as she is struggling to believe in Oron. The dark forces are willing to do anything to stop the seekers, and make sure the prophecy does not come to pass. In Taramon, Ashra is worried both about his fiancee, and about King Ashan’s darkness threatening his city, but when Ashan’s soldiers commit a terrible crime, Ashra decides he cannot stand idly by, and that Taramon needs to be able to defend itself.

Unseen is the really good second book in the Elements trilogy and it starts right were Unknown left off, and it is just as good if a bit darker. This is because it has more action, romance and with a brilliant adventure that leaves you wanting more.

I really like the sweet romance between Jethro and Kyla as the bond between them was so charming and they would sacrifice so much for the other’s safety and happiness, yet still understand that they have to complete the prophecy and stop the darkness. I also liked how we got to know Ashra better in this book, and we get to see how much he cares for Taramon and the people.

I will be reading the final book Unleashed to see how the trilogy concludes. I would recommend Unseen to fans of YA fantasy novels.

Unseen is the second part of a trilogy by Melissa Pearl. It takes place right after where the first book Unknown stopped. It is packed with thrilling, romantic, profound and happy scenes. On one hand got the relationship between Kyla and Jethro more complicated, but on the other they had to improve on their teamwork, faith and loyalty to each other so that they closed the gap between them, what first seemed insurmountable. They had to face hard tests for their stamina and sometimes it looked like they were about to struggle and abandon all what they had accomplished. In my opinion did the characters grow a lot. They had to face a different quest and sometimes they seemed impossible for them what filled each chapter with excitement. The elements helped them a lot to focus on the higher purpose and without them they wouldn't have been able to make it thru all the trouble they had defeated. Both had to made some hard decisions, as well as Athra, who still remained in Taramon. The city had some big things to deal with, but I don't want to tell more about it!
I can strongly recommend it to fantasy fans! It is a great book that fascinated me and it was hard for me to stop reading it!

If you have read book one Unknown then you will not be disappointed in Unseen. It takes place right after book one leaves off searching for the other two elements. The journey to get the last elements is no picnic there is hardships, death, betrayal, and love. When all four elements are together the journey is just the beginning now the true quest has begun but will they be able to complete the quest in time to defeat the darkness and save the people they love. Cannot wait until the third book comes out. If you have not read the first book Unknown then hurry up and check it out.

The second book in this series outshined the first. (And I loved the first one.) "Unseen" flowed well from start to finish and did not feel forced. I was happy with how the story kept my attention and has made me look forward to the next book. I am excited to continue the adventure.

This was another fast-paced, exciting, can’t-put-it-down-until-you’ve-finished-reading-it-novel by Melissa Pearl. It is the second book in the Elements Trilogy. If you haven’t read the book for the first book Unknown, you might wish to at least read the review here, first. This is not a stand-alone novel.

Unseen picks up in the icy mountains in a snow storm where Unknown left off. Jethro, Kyla and the two element children Mya and Adamar are headed toward Doran where they are looking for the wind element child.

Back in Taramon, Athra continues to watch Princess Kyla’s progress through the use of the magic map rather than trusting in the prophecy. He also continues to secretly train his army of soldiers in the dungeon of the castle in preparation for taking a stand against the dark forces of Ashan.

As Kyla, Jethro, Adamar and Mya locate the wind element Cori and the fire element Eshron, Kyla and Jethro discover their love for one another and struggle to deal with that and Kyla’s betrothal to Athra. Kyla fights within herself over her belief/unbelief in the prophecy and in Oron.

I really liked how Ms. Pearl so beautifully brought the basic elements of the Christian faith into her novel. All the parallels are there. Oron willingly gave up his life for the people just as Christ did. Oron said he would return, just as Christ said He would, and so on. But it’s not just a book for Christians, because it’s also a book about the basic fight of good against evil, of light against dark.

The children also had to work together at times to defeat their enemy. I appreciated that message. We are not islands. We need each other and cannot exist in isolation. There were so many great messages woven into this novel.

I enjoyed the character development of Kyla and Jethro. Kyla does not really want to be Queen. She does not love Athra, but accepts the arranged marriage as it is her duty and she knows that Athra will be a good king, and he is a good man, but she feels like it is a prison sentence. She’d much rather run away. She blames Oron and is angry at him for all that she has gone through in her life. Then she comes to see that it had all been part of Oron’s plan and she had to make a choice – to follow her own plan for her life, or to follow Oron’s plan for her life.

Melissa Pearl has done it again with another 5 star novel that will reside on my favourites shelf. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves fantasy novels.

Thank you to Melissa Pearl who provided a copy of her book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.

** I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

I have to start off by saying that I am always a little leery of epic saga’s that are broken into three books. The first one tends to be great, the 2nd one dull and full of filler, while the last one gives a climax and wraps everything up. Personally I tend to lose interest after the second one but “Unseen” has broken that mold!

Melissa Pearl has delivered a fabulous 2nd edition in the Elements Trilogy. What I love about this author is that she grows with each new piece she produces. Her characters have more depth and yet are still relatable.

This story picks up right where it left off and my heart goes out to Jethro and Kyla. Their plight is expanded on as the young adults have to battle with their love for each other and what is expected of them. It’s easy to get wrapped up in their emotions and be sympathetic with the struggles that they are facing. While I really want to hate Athra for his betrayal I can’t because of how his story unfolds – don’t worry no spoilers – but I have to say I am surprised by how things are unfolding and I can’t wait to see how his time line wraps up.

The new element children are just as corky as the original two but are a little older with more maturity. This enriched the plot and it was interesting to read how harrowing their journey has been.

I do have to scream one word with glee “DRAGONS”. I wasn’t really expecting it – I don’t know why – but I love it. I have my opinions on how they will play in the last episode but I guess I will have to wait and see if I am right.

Every time I think I know where this story is going to lead and start to feel a smidge of predictability it veers just enough to make me reconsider and jump right into the next chapter. “Unseen” definitely delivered which leaves “Unleashed” with some pretty big shoes to live up to and I for one can’t wait to get my hands on it!!

Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Kyla and Jethro are still on their journey, accompanied by children who are the elementals they're meant to bring together. Of course, it's still not a vacation, and they encounter many trials and tribulations along the way. Will they succeed? Or will they succumb to the difficulty of their task?

This sequel just builds onto an already fantastic story, and I found myself eagerly awaiting each new chapter. Kyla and Jethro are wonderful characters, and I can easily picture the little elementals flitting around them. Athra and Nikara are also great to read about, and I can't wait to see what happens when their stories intertwine again. Looking forward to the next one already!

In the second installment of this wonderful saga, Princess Kyla and her best friend, Jethro, fight their attraction to each other while they continue their quest to reunite the four elements and release the light that will save their world. In the meantime, back home, loyal Athra is battling the darkness that threatens to engulf the princess's Kingdom of Taramon. The plotting is sublime and the pacing is perfect. I held my breath as I turned the pages, hoping that Kyla and Jethro would return in time to help save their kingdom. What a fabulous addition to this series! I can't wait for the third book!

Unseen picks up right where Unknown left off, following Kyla and Jethro on their quest to find the four elementals and bring the light back to their world. To do that, they’ll have to face ice storms, a volcano, evil warriors, and even dragons. And yet, even with all that adventure, the most dangerous obstacle they face may be themselves. Will they survive the challenges to their faith in the prophecy? What does it mean to love someone when you’re promised to someone else? And ultimately, will they put their happiness ahead of doing what’s right?

Pick up the book and find out!! You’ll love it.

And, of course, you’ve got to find out what happens to Nikara!

Excellent science fiction book

This is the second book of a series and must be read in order. The writing is fantastic in this series.

I love the different characters in this story. They all compliment each other. The plot moves quickly and the book is hard to put down. The four children, aka the elements, are fascinating and I love their personalities.

Jethro and Kyla have some big obstacles to overcome in this book and they continue to explore their love for each other. Athra tries to hold the city of Tamamon together, but is betrayed. There is edge of your seat suspense throughout the book. I could easily see this as a movie!

Unseen is a story of faith in times of hardship and love blossoming through danger. The search for the light carries Jethro and Kyla far from the world they know, and closer to each other's arms. Meanwhile, Kyla's betrothed stalks the castle halls, his mind torn between worry over his fiancée and cousin, and fear for the beleaguered people of Taramon. When an unthinkable crime forces him into action, he will put the safety of the entire kingdom at risk.

From the chill walls of an ice castle, to the volcanic land of dragons, and straight into heart of darkness itself, Jethro, Kyla, and their companions face one peril after another in their quest to save their world. But not all peril comes from without. Can Kyla overcome her anger toward the god of light for all she believes he has taken from her? Can she and Jethro make the right choice if it means putting their burgeoning love at risk? Can Athra prove himself worthy of being Taramon's future king? The answers to these questions and more can be found within the pages of Unseen.

I enjoyed this sequel to Unknown very much and I'm looking forward to finishing the trilogy out with Unleashed. With wonderful characters and tightly written tension, this is an epic fantasy series I would happily recommend to any fan of the genre.

It's so great to have Unseen out for you guys to enjoy. The thing I love most about this book is the development of Kyla and Jethro's romance. I love these two characters so much and it was fun writing them together.

This story is also quite emotional. I cried a few tears as I wrote. Some of my favourite scenes are the most emotional ones so bringing myself to tears feels like a small triumph in some ways :)

I also loved writing Safeer's character. The developments in his storyline were awesome and he actually became one of my favourite characters... along with Raquel who was an unexpected surprise.

I really hope you enjoy Unseen and I can't wait to share Unleashed with you in August :)

Better than the first

Jethro and Kyla had their work cut out for them to fulfill the prophecy. People back home were betrayed and Tamaron seems lost. Now Kyla, Jethro and the children need to show faith was needed in Orons plan.
