Heir follows the story of Omaera, a poker pro, who's hit by lightening and starts to hear voices and people's thoughts. Turns out she's the Heir to the Throne of the Realm and she's in for a surprise, learning about this world she was hidden from.

Heir also follows the points of views of Drak, Zandren, and Maxar.... Omaera's three fated mates. She's not happy about it, but they've all been waiting centuries for her.

The guys are great. Specifically Zandren. He's a giant Pooh Bear and so funny. I just want to snuggle him lol. Drak... he's the dark brooding one but I'm a sucker for his type. Why is it always the dark ones we want? And Maxar... he's giving me genie vibes meets psycho killer. I'm here for it too lol.

Overall, I couldn't put this book down! I really need book 2 because I'm so hooked on these characters now! Will Omaera become Queen? Will she mate with all 3? Is war going to break out? So much happened and so many questions!

I’ve been trying to figure out how to compile my thoughts on this book and I have been struggling. I found a good portion of this book to be entertaining and funny 🙃 There were times when the FMC got on my nerves a bit, but reminding myself that three random dudes showed up at her door claiming to be her mates would make anyone a little hesitant lol.

2.75/5

it started off good and with a good premise but then……

the fmc turned into one of the most annoying entitled child ever (i almost DNF’d but kept strong because i’m stubborn)

she clearly has a favorite throughout the whole book which is a big no for me — i understand not wanting to mate bc you’re raised as human and whatnot but she didn’t even give a fair shot to not even the mage

the shifter is too clingy and loveydovey and kinda not what the other 2 are about?

the ending is anticlimatic — i was waiting for more action or at least a good cliffhanger

i’m afraid i won’t continue this but it was worth the try 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is the first paranormal why choose book I have read. This book was absolutely fantastic. I was intrigued from the beginning. I loved Omaera and my love for her just grew more throughout the book. She is a powerhouse of a FMC. Of the 3 MMCs I would have to say Zandren is my favorite! I feel Drak has a lot of potential and is quite misunderstood. Hoping to like him more in the next book. Maxar is a fun, care-free spirit. This book is packed full of action and kept me saying, "just one more chapter!" I'm highly looking forward to the next book in this series!

All hail the queen

Omaera otherwise normal life turned upside down after she was struck by lightening. First she finds out that she has 3 mate a vampire, fire mage, and a bear shifter. Then she finds out she's the hybrid heir to the whole realm because apparently her dad was The demon king. On top of all that she has to figure out who hurt the woman that raised her and she also wants to figure out a way to not be the queen. Very interesting book definitely can't wait to jump into part 2 hopefully doesn't end up quite the cliffhanger.

I loved this why choose , paranormal, self discovery & acceptance romance.
So many humorous & Intense moments.
Love to hate to love characters.
I wish I could've read this in the fall around Halloween next to a fireplace cozy in a blanket with a thunder strom going on in the background. It was cozy to read and had me feeling all the feels. Everytime a character was hurt I felt it everytime there was a moment of bated breath my own did the same.
I can't wait to read what's next... I'm a full on fan.

I am giving this a 3.75. I really like the FMC Omeara. I thought she was really interesting and compelling and for everything that was thrown at her in this book she took it surprising well. Me I would have been in the corner rocking and crying with all the changes she went through and learned over the course of basically a weekend.
Omeara has three mates Drak (vampire), Zandren (Bear shifter) and Maxar (mage). While this was a why choose it didn't feel like a why choose. While there were 3 mates I almost completely forgot about one (maxar), barely remembered the another and when I did remember him (Drak) he was never positively contributing in a way to build a relationship with Omeara. The only mate we really focused on was Zandren and I loved him. He was nicknamed pooh and it was such a funny and cute moment. Now this does leave on a cliff hanger so there are more books in the series so maybe the other books will focus on the other mates, and we can learn more about them and see them interacting in a way to build their connection with Omeara but for this book I wasn't getting the why choose vibes I usually love.
I think the plot of this book was really interesting with a hidden heir, half human genetics so the supernatural's are being forced to confront their prejudice about having a half human queen. You also have the training of the queen and the fight for the throne. All really interesting and I hope to see more in future books as the plot develops.

This book is about Omaera who has always had an amazing ability at reading people. So much so she has made a name for herself in the underground gambling world for her success in poker. After a particularly good night at the tables when she is heading home with her bestie she is struck by lightning. As she comes to in the hospital, she hears people cheering her name calling her queen of the realm. Obviously, the lightening did more damage than she thought. But then strange things start happening and then strange men start appearing at her door proclaiming to be her fated mates and that they are supernatural beings. But surprisingly that's not the craziest thing. It turns out the father that she never met may have been a Demon and king of the realms and has since died. Transferring his powers and title to her... all she can say is that she is not sure this hand she has been dealt is a good one because some players at the table are wanting her to fold in a more permeant way.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

🦇 Enemies to lovers
💜 Paranormal (shifter, vampire, mage, demon)

Star: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️

"Heir" by Natalie Sloan is a captivating urban fantasy that melds elements of romance, adventure, and supernatural intrigue. The story follows Omaera Playfair, an unconventional protagonist who is abruptly thrust from her life as a college dropout and card game hustler into the tumultuous world of magical politics and royal lineage. The narrative kicks off with a dramatic, life-altering revelation: Omaera is the heir to a mystical realm, a position she never imagined for herself.

The plot thickens as Omaera finds herself the target of her power-hungry uncle, who is determined to seize the throne for himself. Her newfound allies and fated mates—a vampire (Drak), a bear shifter (Zandren), and a fire mage (Maxar)—add layers of complexity to her already chaotic life. These characters bring a rich diversity of abilities and personalities, each vying for Omaera’s attention and trust, and their interactions are laced with tension, passion, and loyalty.

Natalia Sloan crafts a compelling narrative with strong character development and an engaging pace. Omaera’s skepticism and reluctance to embrace her destiny make her a relatable and grounded character amidst the fantastical elements of the story. Her journey of self-discovery and empowerment is both inspiring and relatable, highlighting themes of identity, duty, and the power of choice.

The romance in "Heir" is intense and multifaceted, exploring the dynamics between Omaera and her three mates. Natalie Sloan balances the romantic elements with the overarching plot, ensuring that the relationships enhance rather than overshadow the main storyline. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, adding depth to their interactions and raising the stakes as they navigate the dangers and responsibilities of their roles.

In summary, "Heir" by Natalie Sloan is a thrilling blend of romance and fantasy, perfect for readers who enjoy strong character development, complex relationships, and a richly woven plot. It's a tale of unexpected destinies, fierce love, and the transformative power of embracing one’s true self.

I wanted to love this book. I think the storyline is well thought out and moving forward. We do get left on a cliffhanger. But there is a disconnect for me somewhere.

Omaera is a poker pro who's hit by lightning and suddenly starts hearing voices and people's thoughts. Then even more bizarre, three men show up on her doorstep claiming to be her mate. A bear shifter (Zandren), a mage (Maxer), and a vampire (Drek). She isn't convinced that she's their mate, but does feel a pull to each of them. Zandren is the most likeable. His character is great for comedic relief. Drak is a little more complex. His mannerism have him appearing to be rude and arrogant. But when you read his point of view, you can see a different side of him. I would have like to have seen more of that being noticed by Omaera, but I almost felt like she basically wrote him off. And then Maxar. He's sweet and compassionate. He seems to be a voice of reason in the group on multiple occasions.

WIth the guys showing up and Omaera learning of the Realm, she also learns that she is half demon. The cause of the lighting strike is about to change her entire world.

At times I felt like part of the story dragged on. I had to sit it down and come back to it multiple times. Initially I liked the FMC, but found it hard to connect with her. There is just something about her that I didn't like. With the overall plot, some parts felt like they were drug out longer than needed. And other parts felt like they could have been elaborated on more. There is a lot going on which lead to me getting lost a few times.

If you're a paranormal reader, this may be a great book for you. I typically read a bit of everything which is why I wanted to give this one a chance.

Tropes: Why Choose, Vampires, Mages, Shifters, Demons, Fated Mates, Mystery

Spice: 2. The FMC is hesitant to form connections with her mates. So there isn't much here. That I can recall, there is only one scene and it was mild.

I don't know if I will continue this series. I didn't find myself invested in the book enough. But it may just not be the book for me. Again, if you are a paranormal romance reader, I recommend checking it out. It could be your next favorite.

Happy Reading Ya'll <3

Omaera Playfair has lived a relatively normal life, hustling poker tables and generally enjoying life. She's always felt a little different, but nothing terribly out of the ordinary. When Omaera is suddenly struck by lightning, her world turns upside down as men keep showing up at her door claiming that she's their fated mate, a bear shifter, vampire, and fire mage. Thrust into a new world where paranormal creatures are very much real, Omaera must come to terms with her new reality and ascend the throne to take her rightful place, while avoiding death from people who don't think she's fit to serve.

This was an explosive start to a new why choose, pnr series! Despite the darker themes of the book, I found myself kicking and giggling by the banter in the book. I think it was especially interesting idea with the lightning strikes for the fated mates and then how they dropped everything and just ran to seek her out. The plot was well-paced with the introduction to how this world operates and I'm excited to see what comes next with Omaera continuing to learn and understand her own parental history and the secrets that were kept from her for her whole life. I also am really enjoying seeing the relationships grow between Omaera and all the guys, though I really think Drak just needs to suck it up.

If you like pnr and why choose, I'd definitely recommend! and for those interested in getting into why choose, this is a great option.

Thank you for sending me this ARC! 🫶🏻
My reviews are always honest.

Omaera is a refreshing fmc! The “orphan discovers they’re supernatural” trope was actually really well done and was fun to watch play out with her. I’m glad that Gemma was included from the beginning instead of having Omaera keep it a secret to “keep her safe” like so many other books with the trope often do. Speaking of Gemma, what an awesome character! She’s a feisty little badass of a human and I hope she gets more badass as the series goes on!
Maxar is my fav of the mates and I can’t wait to get more of him in the other books!

There’s only 2 things that are keeping this from being a 5 star read for me!
1. Everyone in this book is incredibly racist towards Vampires 😭 I understand 1 specific character acting the way he does do to his trauma surrounding vampires, but the way 90% of the supernaturals we encounter in this book immediately talk down to Drak is crazy. Omaera is super vocal when she experiences discrimination for being half human, but doesn’t even blink when people treat Drak like shit just for being a vamp. This is an actual excerpt from the book:

“Immediately, the shifter looked me up and down, and his top lip curled into a sneer.
“What the fuck is a vampire doing here?”
I exhaled in defeat.
“My apologies. I know how hated we are.” “

Like how sad?? 😭 and no one in the “super woke half human queen harem” even thinks to stand up for Drak?
Even though Omaera had a whole speech about Xenophobia and racism? 😭

I’m really hoping the discrimination against vampires is an addressed plot point in the rest of the series. I get not wanting to address it right away and maybe setting it up subtly in the first book to be addressed later on, but this is so in your face throughout the whole book that it just feels weird that no one ever stands up for Drak even a little bit.

2. Omaera HATES Drak for literally no reason, right from the very beginning 😭 she is so much harsher towards him than she is towards her other two mates and I really didn’t see any behavior that warranted her level of hate until way after it was pretty well established how annoying and hard to be around she finds him to be. And with all the vampire racism mentioned above, it feels even worse to see how she talks to him and singles him out specifically 😭 at one point he’s literally just standing there and she lets us know how annoying she finds it 😭 Of course he doesn’t make any of this any easier on himself by explaining to her the reason behind him doing the one thing that seems to annoy her the most about him! But tbh with the amount of hate he seems to get from everyone in this world he’s probably not even registering this as anything too outrageous.

I genuinely really enjoyed this read, and I think this series has a ton of potential!! I’m really excited to see where this plot goes and will definitely be suggesting this to all my Fated Mates / Why-Choose loving girlies out there!

Thank you so much to Natalie Sloan and Happily Booked PR for the arc! All thoughts, as always, are my own.

Wow! I don't really even know where to start with this book. This was my first book by this author, and I will definitely be checking out her other books! I really enjoyed this read from start to finish. The pacing never really felt slow to me, and I was almost always in suspense of what was going to happen in each chapter - not to mention how much I laughed! This book was so humorous with the banter between the love interests and different species, and I really loved that aspect.

As far as romance, you can expect some reluctance and slow burn. The book ends in a happy for now with our why choose babes still not all giving in. I would say you get a 1/5 spice that is quite delicious.

Although this is a romance, there is still a very great plot to this book, which honestly seems to take a little precedence over the romance, at least for book one in this series.

All in all, this is a fantastic paranormal read! There were times where I was on the edge of my seat and other times where I was giggling and kicking my feet, this book really has it all.
If you like:
🥀 vampires
🥀 shifters
🥀 sorcerers/mages
🥀 demons
🥀 fated mates
🥀 why choose
🥀 enemies to lovers
🥀 touch her and 💀
I think you really enjoy this book!
I would never discourage anyone from reading incomplete series, but do be prepared for a cliffhanger. But this has just made me eagerly anticipate the next book!

"Heir" is the start to a new paranormal why choose series, with fated mates and an fmc who was raised human and is suddenly thrown into the world of paranormal creatures. I have to admit I had a hard time rating this first book. First of all, I really enjoyed the spin on the fated mates trope and how our three men show up on Omaera's doorstep to proclaim their 'status' to the woman they're expecting to fall at their feet. The entire background really works for me: the tension rising in the paranormal world, the loathing some of these species feel for each other, the feelings about hybrids, ... It creates a fascinating world, and sets the scene for our girl's place in it.

The main thing that led me to a four star rating instead of five, is the way Omaera treats her vampire mate Drak. I understand why she's having a hard time with his behavior, but she also doesn't even seem to try to find a way to understand where it's all coming from. I know that she's overwhelmed, so I'm giving her a bit of credit for that, but it feels like she's expecting him to do all the work to make their relationship work. It makes me like her a lot less than I probably should, so I'm really hoping to see this behavior turn around in book two. I actually like the men, so I hope she'll give all of them a real chance in the second book.

All in all, I enjoyed this book. I'm pretty sure my hang-up on Omaera's behavior towards Drak is a personal thing and won't interfere with most people's reading enjoyment, while the worldbuilding is something I expect everyone to like.

"The human race is just as terrible to each other, Gem. Don't shame them as monsters"

It took me a few chapters to assimilate into this new world.
To connect with the cast and get lost in the storyline but once I was down that rabbit hole
I was a goner

This is the first book in the trilogy. It sets up the storyline and introduces the characters and their various skill sets ;D I am not giving anything away
It was packed with action, mystery, sexual tension, and lots of banter
This was low heat but high tension

"You're talking a lot of fucking garbage mumbo jumbo for a man who knocked on my door looking like fucking Pooh Bear"

I was dying through most of this book - great ab workout

Omaera is spunky, lacks the brain-to-mouth filter, and has no ducks in her field left to give.
Who suddenly finds herself with "fated mates" that offer an array of personalities. From laid back and go-with-the-flow to uptight stick-in-the-bum.
Deadly powers she has no control over
A kingdom she now rules that she knows nothing about
And a target on her back

"Dude, you're fucking on fire"
This seemed to happen a lot.
As well as bleeding from orifices, growling, disappearing, dying, and other minor annoyances
Thank goodness she has her solid sidekick, "I'll bring the shovel" BFF along with three annoying mates to help her navigate her new reality

A solid read that offers page after page of entertainment
Action, suspense, a little angst, banter and sexual tension
Lots of tension
Solid start to the trilogy

*received an arc of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

This book was hilarious for no reason hahah I went in for the fated mates tag but stayed for the amazing FMC.

The author wrote a book about a girl who randomly gets thrown into the paranormal world. Well not throw, she gets struck by lightning and I was not expecting that! It was such a new and unique way to show how mates are...not chosen...but like, how they are pointed out? There’s a word for that, I just can’t remember haha. Then three different men show up claiming to be her fated mates. It’s hilarious because she is NOT about it and just wants to be doing her own thing. I’m used to the FMCs being so ready and accepting of the new MMCs that show up, but I really liked how this played out. It was exactly what I had hoped for when I signed up for the ARC!

The smut in here is pretty mild, but I can see it picking up in the next book! There was definitely build-up as the relationships were formed between the four mates, so it built amazing anticipation and it has me feeling so excited for what's to come! It has a happy for NOW, and cannot wait for the second book. You get hidden identity, action scenes, some soft wholesomeness, angst, and of course loads of laughter.

I surprisingly grew to like the FMC. Not gonna lie, at first, I didn’t like her because she was saying, “I’m not like the other girls,” but she was actually pretty cool hahaha. Her best friend is pretty cool, as well as her fated mates. We have a fire mage, a bear shifter, and a vampire! All are unique in their own ways, but I have yet to choose my favorite.

If there is an author who can take me out of my comfort zone, it's Natalie Sloan.
If you've been following my reviews, you know that I'm not a huge fan of the paranormal, but this lady was able to grab me hostage...
Her books are as brutal and kinky as ever...lol, just the way I love it.
Heir is the first book from the Omaera Playfair Chronicles and explores the lives of Omaera and her three fated mates, Drak, Zandren, and Maxar.
Omaera is a college dropout who works at a casino and lives a normal life, or so she thinks.
In a blink, her life changed, and now she's the Queen of the realm.
Crazy, right? Wrong... She has 3 mates and...
Ok, so, what can I say that doesn't spoil too much of the story?
Impossible right?
So here it is.
This book is brutal and crazy.
One minute, things are normal, and the next, we are in a distant realm, surrounded by vampires, shifters, demons, and so much more.
How can you overcome the idea that you are a Queen and not a common person?
How can you give your heart to 3 guys and not lose yourself in the way?
Loved the way the story progressed, the drama, the danger and so much more.
Love the fact that Omaera is not a damsel in distress. She's feisty and a force to be reckoned with.
Now, thank God, I have the next book from this series or else I would lose my mind.
Can't wait to see how everything will work out.
Amazing as always Natalie.

Thank you to @happilybookedpr and @authornataliesloan for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!!

This book is an interesting one for me to review. I have complicated feelings for this book and due to that I’m not quite sure what to say.

Firstly, I LOVE why choose romances so when this one came into my email I didn’t hesitate to sign up for it. And signing up was worth it!

This book might have its flaws but it makes up for it in vibes! I was laughing so much along the way, enjoying the humor and at times silliness that came as I got deeper in.

Omeara is an unassuming woman who gets struck by lightning and her entire world gets turned upside down. Hearing a voice with the strike and suddenly three men claiming to be supernatural creatures show up, announcing that they are her fated mate. Imagine their surprise when they find 2 other men claiming the same thing. Her best friend has one of the best lines in the book when the third man appears.

Omeara not only has to deal with three men who won’t leave her alone, but she is now the ruler of the supernaturals, a demon with strong powers she can’t control and dealing with the murder of her aunt.

The MMC and her best friend had some of the best moments in the book. I think that both of them are strong women who have an amazing friendship, having to overcome many obstacles. Both of them have amazing character development and personally, I couldn’t have handled this as well as they did!

I will say that while there are 3 mates, this book leans heavily into only one of them developing romantically. I’m hoping that the next in the series gives more balance between the men and that they have some hard conversations. There was a lot left unsaid between the four of them, questions and issues that need to be addressed.

Overall a decent read and I will for sure pick up the next book!

There’s nothing I love more than a book that keeps me hooked and locked in from the very beginning and this book did exactly that. The plot was so entertaining. The characters had me laughing, crying, and smiling. Fated mates is one of my favorite things in a paranormal romance and I loved it in this book. Honestly, I’m just so ready for the next one!

Omaera is your average girl just trying to live her life. But then lightning strikes, voices chant inside her head, and mates appear. Now her life is turned upside down and she needs answers. I absolutely love Omaera. I thought her character was so strong and being the queen fits her even though everything is new to her. I can’t wait to see her progress in the next book!

A vampire, a bear shifter, and a fire mage are all minding their business in their separate lives until lighting strikes each one. Immediately they all rush off to find their mate but they find someone who has no clue about the realm. I honestly loved all of the guys. They all had separate personalities but were all so protective of Omaera. I can’t wait to see their relationship with Omaera evolve and really take off.

This book had my attention and never let go. Even now, hours later, I can’t stop thinking about it and I need the next one! I definitely recommend checking this book out!

If there’s one book I could read over and over again, it would be this one. The story immediately captivated me, drawing me into a world brimming with heartbreak, betrayal, secrets, and lies. The storytelling is absolutely incredible, and I am eagerly anticipating the next installment.

The magic system in this book stands out as different and new compared to other fantasies I've read. It was refreshing and unique, adding a distinctive layer to the narrative. The banter between characters was hilarious, providing much-needed comic relief. I couldn’t get enough of it.

Caspian, the sunshine golden retriever with a penchant for the demented, was an absolute delight. His character was so delectable, adding charm and depth to the story. Exploring his character was a joyous experience.

Ariella, on the other hand, is the epitome of a feisty MFC. She is ruthless, remorseless, and brutal, taking no prisoners and never apologizing for it. She’s an absolute badass who takes no shit, and I loved her for it.

The attention to detail in this book is astounding, especially the raw emotions that permeate the story. It truly felt like I was part of the narrative, experiencing every twist and turn alongside the characters. This book is a masterpiece of storytelling and character development, and I cannot wait to see what comes next.

Omaera gets struck by lightning and finds herself the fated mate of a shifter prince, vampire, and a fire mage. Her once-dormant powers awaken and reveal her claim to the throne as the only heir of the late king. Her boys struggle to mask her identity, help her learn her powers, and find answers, as Omaera is stubborn to a fault and determined to ditch her tails. However, when the enemy starts striking too close to home, Omaera must put aside her pride and let her guys help her find her best friend and reveal those trying to keep her off the throne.

Omaera is used to being in charge, so when three paranormal guys come and upend her world, she's just not having it. Heir to the throne and told to keep a low profile? She thinks not. But her brain melting powers are becoming a nuisance, especially when her BFF accidentally becomes the target. Omaera has to learn to accept the assistance, despite its drawbacks, and let her guys help her navigate this newfound world. It's a slow burn, with only two spicy scenes, but the tension is definitely starting to sizzle. I can definitely tell you that this series has some serious potential because Omaera is a straight-up bada$$. The throne would be lucky to have her. I can't wait to see how she handles balancing her royal heritage, her men who can't get along, and whatever else the world decides to throw at her.

❗️Thank you @happilybookedpr and @authornataliesloan for giving me my very first ARC to read and review!

This rec is for all my KU girlies (and guys!) out there. Anyone who loves a good romantasy with some slow burn, he falls first (x3 in this case!), fated mates, RH, tough chick, chosen one vibes: this one needs to go on your TBR!
Omaera is just a witty, card shark of a girl roughing it with her best friend. One night she’s struck my magic lightning and next thing she knows three total hunks show up claiming to be her mates. But she also finds out that she’s next in line for the throne of a realm that she didn’t even know existed. But of course there are haters, mishaps, and villains along the way the Omaera must *handle*☠️

Sloan is a newer author and she is really great about coming up with detailed plots and keeping things fast paced. And her spice isn’t too bad either 🔥
I personally appreciated that it wasn’t instalove for the FMC even though I do love a good fated mates and he-falls-first trope. It made for an interesting combo and we love to read it!!

Personal thoughts: I think the writing could have used some more polish and the dialogue was a little cheesy at times but I most definitely would say the pros outweigh any criticism here! I’ll be anxiously awaiting the sequel coming out in 2025.

❗️Borrow on KU today and let me know what you thought!

Heir
by Natalie Sloan

“All hail, Omaera Playfair, Queen of the Realm.”

Okay, this book immediately sucked me in. I wasn’t expecting all the feels from this book. I can see this being made into an epic series! This was my first read from the author and it won’t be my last.

Omaera is our FMC. What a lovely name! She is a 22 y/o college dropout who makes a living playing poker. One night after a particularly successful poker game, she is walking home and is struck by lightning. She hears a voice say, “All hail, Omaera Playfair, Queen of the Realm.” The next thing she knows, she is in the emergency room being checked out by a psychiatric doctor. She is eventually released and sent home. Later that night, three men (a bear shifter, a vampire, and a fire mage) knock on her door claiming to be her “Fated Mates.” Also, she is the daughter of a demon king and is now the heir to his kingdom. She doesn’t want it, but there’s nothing she can do.

Overall, I loved the book! Omaera is a strong FMC and I love the way she is written. I can’t write much about the men without giving things away, but it’s fun to read about Omaera discovering who she is and learning about her “Fated Mates.” I recommend this book for adults only due to its mature themes. I can’t wait to read the next one!

Woweee this book was fun. Who would've thought being struck by lightning would produce not 1, not 2 but 3 fated mates! Not to mention we have a bear shifter, a fire mage and a vampire...Omeara Playfair definitely has her hands full.
This book really hooked me, it's a sloooowww burn why choose romantasy series based on the life of Omeara Playfair a sassy poker playing "human". She encounters each of her mates in a fun giggle inducing situation and the story line just gets better and better from then on. Each of our MCs personalities are SO different and their interactions with each other are definitely entertaining. This instalment definitely focused on Zandren, our bear shifter, and his bond with Omeara. I really enjoy a series when the author does this. All the characters play a role but the romance is definitely centered around one of her mates instead of overwhelming the reader and the FMC with building all 3 relationships at once.
I loved the set up for book 2. I think it's going to blow book 1 out of the water as we have set down some major ground work and we have two more hot mates to get more into the story. I am really hoping the next one focuses on Drak, their relationship is the most tumultuous and passionate and I have a feeling it may end up being my favorite. Their personalities are just SO different you know it's going to be so explosive when they bond!
The countdown begins!

I really enjoyed this book. The first half I struggled getting into and I think it was mainly because of the book having a FMC and 3 MMCs and needing to get their background and the coming together out of the way. I haven’t read a, Why Choose?, like this before where all the men weren’t familiar with each other and I think that played a part in my struggle. Once we gathered an understanding of the main characters I felt the story really popped off and I wasn’t able to put it down, excited to see how Omeara handled her new life and the predicaments she now faced. I really loved the different personalities between the four MCs though I did feel a bit bad for Drak and Maxar because there was more of a relationship between Omeara and Zandren shown in this book but I am excited to see how all relationships play out in the rest of the series. Overall I really enjoyed Heir and eager to see how the story progresses in the next book after the cliffhanger in this one.

The book was very well written and the story was modern and touched base with a lot of topics that people are facing in the real world. It touched base on racial issues and its not something I’ve seen in many books, especially paranormal/fantasy.

I received Heir by Natalie Sloan as an ARC for an honest review.
