Wow what a book. I usually stand clear of books that have babies involved, but this book also has werewolves, so I took a chance on it. I’m glad I did. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one because I know it’s going to be amazing. Well find out more about why Meara is the way she is and did I sense a little chemistry between Garret and Meara. Meep I hope so. They would be a good match.

Now that I have said all that let’s get to the story. The beginning was a typical good girl that decides to let loose a little and ends up drinking too much alcohol. She meets a hot guy and that she can’t resist and goes home with him. She needs to STAY AWAY from alcohol! Unfortunately for her he isn’t a good guy. He leaves her after he practically rapes her and that what does Meara think about that? She wonders if she was good in bed. And did he leave because she was bad. Are you kidding me! Really I think that was the only time I wanted to put the book down. Maybe I’m being too dramatic and it didn’t happen the way I read it, but it was a very thin line. As far as Meara growing in the book…she did, but it was slow going. She still seemed a bit hasty by the end but her protectiveness of her child made her strong. I am expecting big things from her in the next book, starting with killing that bastard Aren and his son. They make me sick. Oh man I haven’t even talked about the wolves in the book. There are Pure woves which are born wolve and then you have the made one, which they were bitten to become wolves. They can’t stand each other and they both want one thing….Meara’s son. *Que dramatic music* :D

Meara needed to grow up fast because she gets pregnant and her parents disown her. She has been sheltered her whole life and learns how to take care of herself. She doesn’t really think things through though, she just acts, which can be good in some cases, but most of them no. I felt a little connection with Meara but not enough to feel sorry for her. Oh I cringed when they took her baby, but she should have stayed and fought.

Amanda: I really liked her. She is very head strong and a loyal friend. She is the most kickass person in this book and you don’t want to take her on. Lol I kinda like her more than Meara at the moment. It may be b/c Meara is new to all this.

Rachael: She is the sweet one that blushes at everything. She is innocent and adorable. It’s sad what happens with her. L I hope that whatever happens next with her, she will be happy.

Leon: I don’t know whether to hate him or like him, so for now, it is both. He decided a little too late that he wanted to be a good guy. He is on my list for the time being until he fixes what he has done.

Garrett: I’m looking forward to seeing more of his hunky werewolf self in the next one. He doesn’t seem all that bad and I think he would be a great match for Meara (if he wasn’t so stuck on Amanda) He is a bit of a perv though. LOL

Overall: A fast paced read that has all the elements that I love in a story.

I had a little trouble getting into this book to start off with. Its weird but I cannot say why it was hard to get into but it was for me. However, once it got past the first few chapters, I fell in love. One thing I have to complain about right off was the ending though. The book really took off in the last ¼ of the book and I felt it needed many more chapters. Ok with that being said, I can’t wait till the next book!

Now I will talk about what I liked about this book. It was refreshing. Normally a paranormal shifter book has a main alpha male character, romance, and action. This book surprisingly has a couple of Alpha male characters that interact with the leading lady. I loved the female character (Meara) and her friends interactions. It was fun and heartwarming. I liked the Male characters however I felt there was just not enough interaction with the male characters and MEara. I really think the story could have been spread out more and had more to it. But it was written well and had a nice flow to it. I did not see a lot of mistakes which was nice. This seems to be the first book by the author and I have to say for a first book, while it could have been longer, it was definitely well. If you are looking for a Paranormal romance that has a lot of action however, you won’t find a ton in this book. This first book is more of what I would consider a prequel that kind of explains the world and the storyline for future books. I will definitely read more by this author.

Was originally post on Paranormal Sisters: http://paranormalsisters.blogspot.com...

*was given a copy from the author in exchange for my honest opinions*

Some of this was reviewed while I was reading, so it might be a bit jumbled haha.

First off I get that sometimes parents are strict, real strict but for god’s sake she 22! You’re yelling at her for being pregnant as if she’s 16! At least she’s out of her teens, that should count for something! (Spoil Alert) And the father was a one night stand, she doesn’t even remember so shouldn’t you have some sympathy for her? (End of spoil alert).

Maybe it’s just me, but that scene just felt so off. Yes, I get that they made rules but still. I don’t know I could be wrong, as one of my working in projects my main girl is pregnant and her mother yelled at her, but then again her mother didn’t want her to end up like her and her family’s reputation. And my character is 19, so there’s clearly a difference here. We’ll just have to see where this goes.

I saw where this went and all I’ve got to say is, huh….huh in like, this didn’t satisfy me and I’m wondering what happened when it came to the writing style. Plus I feel like I’m questioning things even though I understood everything that went on in the book.

Let’s talk about the first, huh. What little did satisfy me was the werewolf aspect, how it’s pure wolves against non-pure wolves, and I enjoyed the history of how the pure wolves came to be. I also liked how the werewolf aspect unfolded but other than those, I wasn’t very satisfied.

I wasn’t a big fan of Meara’s voice. At first I was okay with the little childish take as her and her friends were going out to party and get drunk on Green Beer Day. But as we got deeper into the book, I hoped her voice would change however it never did. So I never was able to care about her like I should have. I mean, stop whining that you may not have been good in bed, it was you first time you’re not supposed to be good! Especially if it’s with a stranger! Now if it was with someone you loved, yeah it’ll be awkward at first but once you get past the barrier all is good.

Wow this is going to be a long review, haha….

Now onto the other problem I had, the writing. It wasn’t bad, needed some edits for sure but my major problem with it was the point of views. I don’t mind that there’s quite a few but I do mind when you shift the point of views from first person to third person. Meara, our main gal, her point of view was always in first person but when we shifted to a secondary character their point of view was in third person. This shift didn’t feel natural to me, I don’t see this happening a lot. And then what was even more unnatural for me was during the third person view some words would change it to first person view, like it didn’t know what view it wanted to be! For example the word “myself” would be said and throw off the balance of the third person view. So again, I feel like this needs a few more rounds of edits.

Lastly I want to talk about the random sex scene. Maybe it wasn’t completely random to other people but for me, it was. Plus, it was so uncomfortable! Though yeah I got a little hot towards it but that’s only cause when I read those scenes my mind goes straight to the love of my life. Other than that, it was completely uncomfortable and my mind was like “WTF, just happened?!” The guy was possessive and totally cheating by using his wolf powers on one of our secondary characters. It was uncomfortable for me because she didn’t totally say yes on her own, like I said the guy used his powers against her. She was a virgin and he pretty much forced her to say yes even though she had no idea what was truly happening, but I did so I wasn’t a fan. You get where I’m coming from?

Overall, this was interesting and I’m curious on where this goes as the ending had a major twist, though I’m not dying to read the sequel. There’s just too many problems for me to be craving for the next one. *shrugs* we’ll just have to see.

To be honest, it actually took me awhile to get into "Imperfection.” It wasn't until after I was about a third of the way through the book that things started to get interesting for me. Staying with this whole honesty thing, the start of the book actually kind of pissed me off a bit. When we first meet our main female characters, Meara, Amanda, and Raechel, they're all getting ready to go out drinking for the night.

Normally, three college girls going out drinking wouldn't be a big deal or set off any red flags. However, these three were doing their best to show as much skin as possible in order to score free drinks from the male bar patrons. This being the first introduction to the girls we are about to follow through a story that involves a pregnancy, didn't sit well with me. While reading, I got the impression that the girls were merely props for all the men (not just in the bar scene, but in others as well early on in the story), and it all rubbed the wrong way with me.

Thankfully, as the book wore on, Seabolt started writing the women in a more flattering light and I could see that each of them was in fact strong in her own way. Once Meara finds out that she's pregnant (after a one night stand where she lost her virginity no less!), she steps up to the plate in order to be the best mother she can be, even if that means going against, and distancing herself from, her own family. We're also given the opportunity to see Amanda and Raechel standing up for themselves and being strong women, which I was thankful for. These three quickly grew into themselves, and I was glad that I wasn't forced to read about meek girls who let men walk all over them.

A lot of the back story we get is from different point of view changes that happen throughout the story. While it's mostly told from Meara's perspective, we do get glimpses into what is happening with other characters. This was all done in a way so that the reader could get the full story on what is happening with all of the different werewolf packs (and how Meara fits in to them), as well as how some of our supporting characters are moving the plot.

Something that did throw me during one of the point of view changes though was the random sex scene that happened. I would have understood more if it was involving Meara, but instead it was a supporting character and oddly graphic. The entire tone of the book seemed to change with this chapter, and it almost felt like I had accidentally stumbled upon an erotic novel, instead of a story about werewolves.

We also get scenes that are told through Meara's dreams, which seem to be about how werewolves came to be. While at first these dreams were a bit confusing (to Meara as well as the reader), once we got more information they proved to be and interesting take on the werewolf legend.

Although it took its time to get started, I did enjoy reading "Imperfection.” Once everything was in play and the action started, it proved hard to put the book down until I saw it through to completion. This being the first in the series, it does make sense that the action didn't start until a bit later since everything had to be set up so the reader could understand what was going on.

This review and many others can be found on my blog - Feed Your Fiction Addiction

Imperfection is an unique werewolf story that focuses on a mother and her child and gives an interesting mythological perspective on the origin of the werewolves.

The negatives:

Lack of connection.
The only reason that this book didn't get four or more stars from me is that I just never quite connected with the main character. Despite Meara's difficult circumstances, I just didn't feel her pain. I think this is because her emotions are just never really spelled out for us. When her parents want her to abort her child, she says that she would never do such a thing, but I didn't get a real sense of how she felt. I never really felt a sense of love for the baby. even though Seabolt obviously intended for us to believe that Meara loves her child. When the baby is kidnapped, I didn't feel any real sense of panic or urgency from Meara - it all just felt a little hollow to me. So, while the story was good, I just couldn't really connect to it.

Too short.
In some ways, this felt like a half of a book to me rather than the first installment in a series. The book ends kind of in the middle of the action and none of the storylines are resolved. I don't mind cliffhangers, but I prefer for a book to have some sense of closure and to feel like there is some resolution. This doesn't happen with this book.

What I enjoyed:

The plot.
I loved the idea of the plot - Meara, a straitlaced girl who always obeys her parents' rules, gets drunk one night and ends up pregnant. What she doesn't know is that her pregnancy was no accident and that the werewolf who got her pregnant plans to steal her child the first chance he gets!

The werewolves.
I thought that Seabolt did a great job of creating the werewolves' world and giving us the mythology to go with it. I am still curious about what it means to be a Pure Blood wolf (including how Meara is one and why she is "imperfect") - hopefully that will be explained a bit further in the next book. But, I liked how the battle between the Pure Bloods and the regular werewolves has been set up and I enjoyed learning about how the Pure Bloods originally came about. The wolf characters are interesting and I'm definitely intrigued enough to want to learn more about them!

No romance for Meara.
I actually found it refreshing that the main character wasn't caught up in a romance in this book (there was a subplot with Meara's friend and her romance). There is a fling at the beginning of the book, but other than that, Meara is focused just on her own life and her child. I'm not sure if Seabolt has romance planned for Meara's future, but in this first book, I was fine without it.

Imperfection is an interesting new take on werewolves. It's an enjoyable read, but you'll need to wait for book #2 in order to get the whole story! Overall, I give it 3/5 stars.

I love stories that revolve around wolves, but more than anything, I love twists on Norse mythology. It’s truly fascinating to read stories based and inspired by the lore. Imperfection touches on it through the Pure Pack, which are the original werewolves. I won’t go into detail though; it’s quite fascinating how Phaedra Seabolt recreated this for her new series. Heck, it’s worth reading just for that.

Ok, the main character Meara isn’t your standard heroine. She’s not thin, although to me that has never been a measure of beauty, and she’s very geeky and naïve. I related with her from the bat based on that alone because I’m not thin, very geeky, and even at 32 years old, I’m rather naïve. However, just when I felt my connection couldn’t grow any deeper, she has a baby, and the maternal instincts kicked in. I went from identifying, with her, to actually feeling as if she were me. There are other characters in the book, and they were well written. Meara has two best friends, and both are excellent supporting roles in both development and their integration into the storyline.

Plot structure was perfect. Instead of starting with the struggle of losing her baby though, we actually start when the child is conceived. Meara, unsuspecting of the world of werewolves and a mere college student, breaks her parents rules, gets drunk, has sex … and well I’m sure you can draw the conclusion. From here, we watch her struggle inward and out, but just when Meara thinks, everything is getting back to normal … Bam.

Things I didn’t quite like … cliffhanger … I understand why since this is a series, but I have no idea when the next book is coming out, and I’m DYING to know what happens. This is actually a good thing in disguise, but I like to warn future readers when they exist in a book.

I was a bit confused over what exactly made Meara special. I leant toward that maybe she was a werewolf too, but then she didn’t change before getting pregnant. This might be given in the next book (Please if it isn’t in book 1), or maybe I missed it. I’ll reread and amend my review if so. Right now this is all that stands between 4.5 stars and a 5 star review. I just couldn’t figure out if she was a pure too, a half blood, or just human-- with distinctive traits that made her a desirable candidate.

Final thoughts

If you love werewolf and shifter stories, you’ll love this book. There aren’t extra supernatural creatures; it’s pure and raw feral madness. There are some minor sexual scenes, but done tastefully. Over all the storylines, characters, and descriptive show of the story was spot-on, entertaining, and memorable. Phaedra Seabolt’s an up and coming author to keep an eye on. I know I will. Imperfection is for adults, due to minor violence and sex.

Meara Falk, the privileged daughter of a wealthy family has one year left before she graduates from college. Her parents are paying for everything provided she follows a few simple rules. Her quiet, predictable life is about to change when her friends convince her she needs to cut loose at least once before she graduates. That one decision will change her life in ways she never thought possible.

Cut off from all financial support and disowned after telling her parents she was pregnant, Meara now works as a waitress to pay the bills while she still tries to finish school and graduate. Nine months later she is struggling to survive as a single parent with the help of her friends. Taking her son for a ride in his stroller, she is attacked and injured when someone tries to snatch her son. After she heals, Meara starts noticing her hearing is getting better, as is her sense of smell.

Unknown to Meara, she is descended from a "pure" line of werewolves. Pure Pack are warriors cursed by Freyja to live as wolves, and blessed by Odur with the ability to shift between human and wolf form, and near immortality. Now her son is wanted by his father, the Alpha of Pure Pack, and he'll stoop to anything to gain possession of Julian. When her son is kidnapped, Meara and her friend, Rachel, both learn werewolves are more than a fable to scare yourself with on a dark night.

There are so many werewolf and shapeshifter stories that authors need to find a new spin to make their book stand out. Seabolt has done that. By twining Norse mythology with werewolf mythos, Seabolt has put an original spin on the genre. She gives us an answer as to the origin and their purpose, a unique approach as far as anything I've read goes.

Seabolt did a good job of weaving Norse mythology into her story. And she gave us an imperfect werewolf who didn't change on the first full moon after being injured. What a fun twist! I really enjoyed this story, the abrupt halt at the end of the book, not so much. The ending leaves this part of the story feeling unfinished somehow. Now I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next one to come out so I can see what happens next. My hope is for sometime this year.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

From the very beginning of the novel, it is clear that Seabolt has a great control over her words, as the writing is absolutely breathtaking. She created a world of blood and lust, loyalty and love that shadows our own. Immediately attention-grasping, Imperfection is a short read that kept me engaged in the ride the entire experience.

A very refreshing aspect of Seabolt's characterization was that her characters were not watered down or smothered. On many different occasions, authors seem to force their characters' amiability onto readers, and avoid putting them in a bad light. In Imperfection, the characters made mistakes and did real actions, even if they were not the most agreeable. This made me like and respect the characters more than I would have otherwise.

Although I am a fan of werewolf stories, there is a fine line between a good one and a not-so-good one. Seabolt managed to craft a great one, adding a mythological twist to explain the creation of werewolves. Having a background that explained the story in greater detail offered a more interesting reading experience, especially since the history is so commonly looked over.

Imperfection also managed to have different plot lines between different characters intertwined and happening all at once, even though a large part of the story is told in the first person. This technique not only showed how greatly developed and round all of the characters were, but kept the story interesting. In fact, my favorite plot line was between two supporting characters, who stole the show, in my opinion.

Although this is a more personal point, as an Ohio native, I was excited to recognize many of the settings in the story. However, regardless of where you live or what you know, Imperfection is sure to captivate until the climatic and cliff-hanging end.

I love werewolf books, and I especially love seeing how each author will put their own spin on the legends. I couldn’t wait to see what Phaedra would come up with in Imperfection. I liked that we were given glimpses into what happened in the past to create werewolves. I also found the dynamics of the packs interesting.

I liked Meara. She was straight laced, following her parents’ rules, and just trying to make it through college. One night of fun ended in what could be a horrible mistake. I absolutely love how she handled it. Single, broke, and disowned, she sucked it up and did what she could to give herself and her baby a good life. I found her to be a very strong and like-able character. I will be really interested to see how she will grow as a werewolf, since she has already encountered obstacles.

I really enjoyed her friends, Raechel and Amanda. They liked to have fun, but they also were there for Meara as her life got tough. Leon was touch and go for me as a character. I expected to hate him, but found myself increasingly interested in what would happen next with him.

Imperfection is a fast and exciting read. It is centered mainly on Meara, but there are pieces of other characters’ stories there, too. I didn’t want to stop reading, wanting to find out what would happen to Meara and her son next. I cannot wait to read the second book and see what happens. I think lovers of adult paranormal books will enjoy this book. I do suggest that readers be 18+ due to the sexual content.

I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Meara is just a girl going to college and getting everything paid for by her parents. Her friends convince her that she should do something “crazy” before the end of school. Meara decides to join a huge drinking fest where her life flips completely upside down. She ends up on the back of some guy’s motorcycle and wakes up the next morning in some random room. When she finds out she’s pregnant her life will never be the same. Werewolves, action, and lots of lore are involved with this book.

What I liked: I really thought this was a well written book. The author had a good plot and a story line that kept me interested the whole way through. I really liked Meara the most, and the author did flip to a couple other points of view at times. Which I didn’t mind, but I still liked Meara’s first person the best compared to the others. The author really brings an interesting twist to the werewolf lore, which I thought was interesting.

What I didn’t like much: Probably the only thing I didn’t care for was the sex scene. I thought it was over the top explicit, and bummed me that it was in there. I know a lot of authors want their book to be “adult” or whatever so they add a sex scene, but this one was extremely detailed, and in my opinion not needed for the story line really.

The ending does leave you hanging, which doesn’t really bother me that much, but I could see where people wouldn’t care for an ending that cuts off rather than completes the story.

Overall I felt this book was really well written, well thought out, and really interesting!

I could not put Imperfection down. The only thing I did not like was the cliff hanger ending. I really want to know what will happen next, and hate to wait. Meara Falk is your typical good girl, straight A's follows all of Daddy's rules , never lets loose. That all changes in March when goes out with the girls to hit the town and that one night changes everything. This is where Phaedra Seabolt snags you right from the beginning.

Meara is a tough cookie who finds herself in trouble and no longer supported by Mom and Dad. She has the help of 2 friends that is all. She proves to be as strong as Mamas most often are doing what she needs to do to keep life in order and take care of her son. Then she is faced with werewolves. The reality they exist, her baby daddy is one and so much more!

Of course Meara is not the only great character in this book. Meara's two girl friends are also leading ladies. Their are two werewolf packs and a war is definitely breeding. A war between the Pure Blood Pack and Mixed. I can't wait to see who will win this war. Book 2 is sure to have some action! Awesome book Phaedra Seabolt can't wait for the next!

If you love a good wolf book pick this one up!

Imperfection was one of those books that you just can not put down. If waiting for another book in a series is not your thing, you may want to hold off on reading this one. The ending of Imperfection leaves a lot to be desired……meaning the next book please!! Oh I can not wait to see what happens next.

Meara Falk is the good girl. She never finds herself getting wild or breaking rules. She reminds me a lot of myself when I was younger because I always aimed to please everyone else. Then one night she goes out on the town and everything is changed forever. A lot happens and Meara now finds herself without Mom and Dad. All she has is the help of her friends to get her through the tough times. Then…enter werewolves. She is introduced to a whole new life, and I was sucked right in.

I love a great werewolf story and this one did not sell anything short. Meara’s friends are amazing as lead roles and the fact that there just may be a scuffle about to happen between the two werewolf packs leaves even more to desire from the next book. Phaedra Seabolt, you have done an amazing job and I CAN NOT wait until the next installment.

Aren I have some mixed feelings about that damn boy and honestly I'm hoping that in the second book he gets a attitude adjustment, especially with the way he treats Meara, can't even stay to make sure he's alright after spending a night with her the a**, "seriously??? He took my underwear with him but decided to drive off without his shirt? What a pig!" I mean seriously he's all bada** alpha one minute who only cares about one thing he's so cold hearted, "your ineptitude at killing her may actually be your own saving grace. You should pray to whatever gods you worship that she is turned. She is worth more to the pack as pure breeding stock than as a mere human anyway. However, you failed to bring me the only thing I asked of you. I will allow you a second chance to find my son and to bring him to me. Failure a second time will not be tolerated. Do I make myself clear?" Then he seems like he might sort of care about Meara, "it doesn't really matter now. Where you have succeeded, my son has failed yet again. He did not bring my son to me, and he has not delievered to me my precious Meara. Let the entire pack know that Randolph is now in exile. If you see or hear from him, report it to me immediately."

this book was awesome! the characters were interesting and the ware angle new and different. I found myself intrigued right from the start and couldn't put the book down until it was done, and the ending! leaving you itching for more! I defiantly can wait to see what is in store for these guys next.

Meara just wanted a normal night out with her friends, one night were she would be a normal collage girl at a normal collage party. Meara got more then she bargained for, for all she remembers the next day is his dazzling blue eyes and his amazing accent, and worst of all! she wakes up the next morning no longer a virgin. Meara not only doesn't remember the night before but apparently mystery man left something else behind for she is pregnant.

Being pregnant and having a baby isn't ideal but Meara has never been happier when someone tries to kidnap her baby and she is attacked by a crazy wolf! scared for their lives Meara knows she must turn to her friends for help but when the wolves attack again and her baby is kidnapped Meara turns to another pack for help when strange things start to over take her body on the full moon.

Will she ever see her beautiful baby again? and can she trust this pack to help get him back?

I’ve studied the wolf pack for years in many aspects, so I dived right in to Phaedra Seabolt’s book Imperfection. It’s ironic (or uncannily smart) that Meara Falk, the main character, always followed her parents rules, basically her ‘pack’, until a different, natural craving caused her to do something wild and reckless. Something that would make put her and her son in a predicament years later. It’s really an age-old story about a woman and a man bringing a child into the world never considering what it would mean to two families; only this child has a supernatural meaning between two packs. Two wolf packs.
If you are a person that has even ever slightly believed that in some time and place, people are or were shifters, changing into animals; or that we were at one with the animals that share our world, this is a great book for you. If you understand how fragile our human existence is, and how quickly it can be jeopardized by birth, life and death, this is a book for you. Meara wants to get her son back, but she also knows it can destroy everyone she loves and everything she knows. What will she choose? I can’t tell you – you have to read it.

Coming from a background where I followed all my parents’ rules, I could completely understand Meara. Of course, I never got a free ride to college; I think that would have forced me to be even more by the rules than I normally would have been. But then Meara bends to the peer pressure and ends up making bad choices that change the course of her life.
I liked the way Meara stood up for herself and her baby, instead of bending to her parents’ wishes. The way she took things one step at a time and focused on what is needed, instead of completely falling apart, showed a strong will that was not seen earlier in the book when she bent to the peer pressure.
Was there a spark of chemistry I noticed between Garret and Meara? Oh, I think something is brewing in the air! I can’t wait to see how that evolves in the series.
Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down and finished it in a day. Overall, I absolutely loved this book, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

4.5 stars, i really enjoyed this book it started off a little slow and a little corny but the more I read the more depth of the book the more I really enjoyed the book, though some parts just was mysterious and had me wondering who was who in certain scenes. And who does Garret really like cause that had me intrigued. (especially the bathroom scene)

I also wanted to know at the breakfast scene as it was put "Alpha why are you sitting with the Omega and human?" Now in the book there was no mention that this person was it and how can the person know that they are the omega with all the circumstances around it.***that had me a little confused.

I cant wait to see how it plays out and maybe get the answers that I am looking for.
