The DragonTail #1

DragonEye: The Pupil

Rate this book
William Town never believed he would see a dragon. Neither did he think he would travel outside of Calgary, or, most importantly, that he would be taken in by anyone who loved him.

But that was before he met Sophie Roberts, a tutor who does more than review homework and substitute...

Rich with imagination, magic and even a bit of danger, DragonEye: The Pupil suggests to readers that there's more in the Canadian backwoods than bear and deer, and that there's always the possibility of a little magic, as long as we take the time to look.

Loved it!! I loved the descriptions of things, they made everything so easy to imagine. When you hear dragon you think fire and danger but these were different and although my kids scare easily I think the magic of these dragons far outweighs any scary nature. This book made me think they could be real and want to explore the area. I have a new found admiration for mythical creatures and will look forward to reading the other books in this series. Thankyou to Goodreads and J. Neven-Pugh for letting me read this I will be handing it over to my 8yr old son who I believe will enjoy it.

Really cared about the character and wanted to find out what happened to him. I was encouraged by the perseverance of this young writer to have accomplished so much at a young age. Well done J.!

This is an excellent book for the 9 to 12 year old range, though I think fantasy readers of all ages will find it an enjoyable read.

The author has created a complex and believable world in this story. I particularly like how they have woven the creatures of myth into the real environment of Alberta and British Columbia. As a resident of the area myself, it's nice to believe for a while that there just might be Mer-folk in our lakes, Dryads in our forests and Dragons in our mountains.

I think it's also important that these creatures are presented with their own cares and concerns, not simply as lurkers around the fringes of the human world. Like the rest of our natural world, they must be treated with respect and even the experts must tread carefully.
