Without knowing anything of Eva Peron except for old rumours, I watched the Disney production of Santa Evita. This in turn made me curious about her history. This book is more about the political side of Argentina where Eva Peron made her name. This book is terrifying in what it reveals about Argentina’s despicable history. I am unsure what is truth and what is fake although by reading this it has opened my mind about how easy it was for people to be turned by corrupt governments and political figures.

This book is quite horribly written. It's definitely written with an agenda to defame. Though quick and interesting to read, I can't help but doubt the authenticity of his claims.

This poorly written biography was barely tolerable. The book described how crooked the government of Juan Peron was, and how Eva Duarte came to power in the Argentine politics. Eva taxed the wealthy and gave to the poor, but took a lot out for herself. She was loved because she had a dynamic personality and had moved up from a lowly country girl to the effective leader of the then cosmopolitan Argentina. The book was poorly written because there was too little material on Eva and too much on her embalming and other trivialities.

Read this in college, in 1982. After seeing the musical "Evita" in London earlier that year, I sought out books, etc. on her (this was obviously prior to the internet.) At the time there wasn't much, but this book was the first I ever read on Evita, and it is very informative, and fascinating, like Eva Peron herself. Better books have been written since then, but this one is a quick read.
