with a little help from my friends.

there's no rescue like the one you don't even know you deserve.

no hero like the one who can punch a clean hole through a wall, and kick things that need kicking, and show you the world on the other side of the mountain between you and the life you've never known.

thank god for heroes.

and thank god for the stories they live in, too.

East..where shall I begin? ..28 tiny pages of dirty..dirty..dirtiness, hilariousness, a sweetness even I am not immune to, and worse, a tang of sadness that made my eyes tear up. Urgh, when did that last happen? I know, when all the Jake and Adrien feels in Death of a Pirate King hit me like a sledgehammer. And I honestly have tried to toughen up since, if only because my ereader has never completely recovered from its bath.

But apparently to no avail.

Anyway! How is it even possible to get so involved in the lives of two boys from Redneck Country, Chris and Liev, in so few pages? It’s incredible, the way the writing style of this author clicks with me. I appreciate the lack of artificial plot devices so much, the way both the plot and dialogue come across as perfectly natural. The humor!

In East, Domashita describes the growing love between two school boys excellently. Instead of the usual trope where one of these boys suddenly falls head over heels in lust & love, and the other finds out that he is – surprisingly enough – gay too, these two have known each other since they were 5 and grow up spending their school lunch breaks together, eating the same junk food and bragging about girly bits they never touched. They also pester each other about who has the bigger dick (and who the tiny-winiest). You know, the usual macho stuff boys get on about.

“Fine. If it’s so huge, prove it.” Liev shrugged, unzipped his pants, and brought his dick out to flop up against his stomach. As nonchalantly as if he was opening another beer.  Alarm sirens in Chris’s brain told him DON’T LOOK, but he was leaning up on his elbow to fucking stare  at it. No, it wasn’t small, not at all. Maybe even a little bigger than Chris’s. Although that was hard to tell, since Liev wasn’t hard. That thought hit Chris like a punch to the stomach, and suddenly he couldn’t stop thinking about it. It looked soft and thick now, but what would it look like hard? Fuck, he had to stop staring.

After that drunken night in the grass, doing homework together isn’t quite the same anymore. And something that started out as an experiment evolves into something heartwarming, sexy and..secret. Because they intuitively realize that they cannot be caught exploring these feelings. For obvious reasons, but the most glaring ones are the fact that they live in the wrong place and that Chris has to deal with an abusive fucker of a father. Then one day It Gets Better for Liev, who has obtained a ticket to get out of the shithole they live in…but what about Chris?

“Man’s got to have his bitch."

If I were Domashita -- and unfortunately I’m not -- I would bundle my short stories and officially publish them in a beautifully illustrated book women would trample their own young for to get at (the only good thing Dark Lover has ever brought me, I get to recycle Ward’s melodramatic lines). With the money my ever-growing club of screaming fangirls will be throwing at me to express their gratitude, I would then quit my job and write a novel about Gaga and Mercury’s adventures. Yup. That’s what I’d do. I’m sure she will, too. At some point..

In the meantime I’ll just happily throw stars at these gorgeous little gems. How many are there anyway? I’m hoping on an everlasting supply.

I'm Domashitated.

Because... this author ROCKS!

She makes me giddy like a little girl.

Here the McDonald's offers Big Mac, McWrap, McRoyal, McPollo, McExtreme... so when the new breakfast was coming out everybody was thinking... McDalena! No! They called it McMuffin. So disappointing they cheat you like that.

That's what happens in YA sometimes, you expect a teen relationship but sometimes they feel like adults with childish behaviors. But also in a story about proper teens I feel cheated because they see problems where there shouldn't be and the solution is much easier. There was a movie director who said he liked youth because that's when we are more clever.

And here they are VERY clever. They act like teenagers and that's fine. They are those teenagers who have jokes, treat life in an apparently superficial way, demonstrating that it doesn't suit them and consequently they take risks and insane actions. For the best of reasons. But they never lose grab on reality. They just don't like the circumstances and consequently, they change them. I love the ending because of that and because it's perfect.

In truth Chris and Liev see everything, they just have different ways to confront it. They see the importance in this, the real potential, they don't waste their time in silly thoughts and mourn about the what ifs, they just do it and period.

Liev and Chris are friends since forever. And they like it. But somehow something else sparks. It's fragile and small but with each passing experience they get a hold of what it can be but still they keep treating with such nonchalance that you fear they are going to ruin it somehow, not because they don't value it but because they value it a way too much. They are so afraid of losing it, of breaking it in carelessness, afraid of scaring each other, that I was as afraid as them. They dance around pushing limits a little more each time, trying to get closer and at the same time, unsure of how to make the movement without spoiling it all.

The process is very subtle and gradual but it fails in hide a very heart-wrenching trip. Coming of age, self-examination, fears and longings. It's a carefree bond on the surface but there is much feeling underneath. It seemed an unequal relationship at first but in truth the roles they take are assimilated in such a natural way that in only gave a hint of brutal honesty and real devotion.

So I got the McDalena I requested and I loved it to pieces. Domashita Romero gave me exactly what I asked for, with no theatrics and sappiness at all.

You know what? I will never use as a excuse that a book never worked because it was too short. It's up to the author's talent. Some manage to inspire with less than 50 pages, and some don't even come close with more than 200.

Yay, they escaped bigoted, redneck, homophobic, small town Colorado and are headed to Boston! : )

This short story was a bit of an enigma. On the surface, this story about 2 high school best friends giving each other shit in typical teen fashion and getting one another off here, there and everywhere seemed as if it was only going to be a bit of fluffy erotica.

Then, as the story progressed, you began to see that, despite teasing words and a lot of trash talk, there were actual feelings being revealed. Feelings that both characters didn't want to end when Liev had to leave for college in the fall, leaving Chris behind, because he couldn't afford to go. Couldn't afford to make his own escape.

I loved how this story ended. Being from a very similar small town background, this story resonated all the way deep down to my bones.

Amen to escaping where you came from to become something better. Something just... more. Happy.

4.25 stars for this fun, sexy, *FREE* read. Definitely recommended. : )

Very well written, this has everything you need in a novella. 4.5 stars and

Liev and Chris have been friends since kindergarten, and handily seem to live next door to each other. We don't get to find out that much about Liev, but Chris has been told by his parents (well, the moron that sired him) that he must make an effort to go out with girls otherwise he'll be thought of as a faggot...and we can't have that can we, so he tries bless him, and the girl he dates at Homecoming Bonnie Kirkpatrick decides she's had enough, and goes off with one of the guys from the wrestling team. Chris goes off to find Liev, and of course Liev is exactly where Chris thought he'd be...drinking Jim Beam, and chilling out!! More alcohol is consumed, and the boys start daring each other....I'll leave you to figure out what happens from there....

There is a lot of sex in this story....and I mean a helluva lot, these boys could populate a small town I think, there are some laughs...and then the downside, there is a problem parent....one parent who is a bigoted red-necked moron, has no job (he's on benefits) but with no noticeable sign of any injury, and seems to spend his time with his buddies drinking his wife's wages away...he's just the sort of guy that I love to hate . He has it in for all sorts of people....not just gays, but Jews as well (so Liev gets nasty stuff said to him, and I mean really nasty!)...and I've no doubt little furry creatures from Alpha Centauri would also be on his hit list!!

Liev plans to move across country to go to college, and Chris hasn't even bothered to apply to go to college cos a) they haven't got the money and b) Chris isn't clever enough..his dick of a dad says so!! But there is no way in hell Liev will leave Chris behind....this is way more than just sex, and they secretly make plans to escape their little podunk town.... Loved it and recommended.

A story about two best friends, discovering a bond...deeper than friendship. Living in a small town and looking for an escape...together.

"Come with me. Chris. You don't have to stay here."
"Yes," Chris said, and kissed Liev until he ran out of breath...

”It was amazing what an invisible line could do.”

This story… *sigh* I love this story.

East by Domashita Romero bares so many emotions on the page. So many emotions hidden under the joking and swearing. Fear, doubt, friendship, lust, longing, and so much more live in this short, powerful read. My heart laughed, flipped, and LOVED it all.

Chris and Liev are best friends in a small, small Colorado town. One of those towns you feel locked into for life. Always standing beside and up for each other helps Liev and Chris get through though. But one beer and Jim Beam filled night changes everything.

I loved the slow, subtle steps and changes between these guys. The punching and teasing felt so perfect and natural between them. Flipping each other off, dick jokes, and dirty talk. Haha…Oh, how I love the dirty talk. They both felt so real to me. And man….they will sneak right up and steal your heart. I was laughing one second and crying the next. Emotions that truly made my heart swell and skip with pride and happiness.

Just one of many reasons why Romero has become one of my favorite reading finds is the small intimate touches. Tastes and touches that more often than not force me to blink away a tear or put a hiccup in my inhale. Like a bite that leaves a “spitty mark” behind or a hand that lingers over a heart to “catch the beat”. Beautiful little actions and words that add such warmth and intimacy to the story. The so-called “small” things in life tend to stick with me.

There is a lot going on with and around Chris and Liev—the fear of getting caught; this new feeling pumping away in their hearts; and the pain and weight of doubt from constant belittling. But it never felt like too much. To me, it felt like life and love caught on the page. Every squeeze, smear, sticky hand, and pet name made me smile and laugh!

East is my favorite Romero world so far, but hell I haven’t even scratched the surface of her work yet. So I’ll keep you posted. Can’t wait for more!

If you haven’t discovered Domashita Romero yet—GO! Go now.

It was almost a perfect YA book for me because it is HOW I prefer them to be.

Almost because it had maybe 10 "FUCK"-words more than I could well cope, BUT in spite of everything I liked it a lot, it was goooood, it was touching, it was sweet and funny and smart and the endig..it was the cherry on top! THAT was great.

My first book of Domashita Romero, but for sure not the last one!

By now my opinion of any Domashita fic appears a foregone conclusion - not a common phenomena because my must-get-soonest authors are very select in number.

At first I wasn't sure what I was getting with the immediate trash talking, but it works. Then boy does it work! Very hot.

..Liev was his best friend in the world, but that did not change the fact that he was a complete asshole sometimes..

And that's the relationship; no flowery romance or emo navel gazing. Trash talk, all; 'that's what she said' and 'my dick is bigger than yours'.

.."I've got a hell of a kosher sausage."

Chris snorted a little laugh. "Mini-frank."..

It's easy, familar, hot and dirty. It's two boys getting it on at every opportunity and I was smiling and loving it.

But then there's that hook. Liev's pounding of the tree. Chris's vulnerbility. Suddenly it's more than teenage highjinks, the change is smooth but there's so much more here. I don't want to say angst, because in my mind that equates with histeronics and overblown plots; the story skips that to go direct to your heart strings, showing you Chris's deal and avoiding heavy introspection. Avoiding the standard confrontations too.

This friendship suddenly goes deeper than best mates or even boyfriends. It a bond that matters. There's tenderness and it's the lack of words that means so much.

By the end I felt wrung out as only the best of stories can leave you. For the characters it's the true beginning and promises to be a filthy, loving ride.

"Man's got to have his bitch,"

The book is at once funny, sad, poignant and sweet, and it comes with a special layer of jizm to lap up!

I am going to go against the stream of all those high ratings here ... yep, 2-stars from me. It wasn't about the story, for me it was the language.

While I loved "the core" of this story, two best friends in a small town who just found love in one another, and they were getting out of that town, other people's be damned ... but I really, REALLY disliked the crude talks. Nearly hated it, in fact. I don't like it in real life and I don't like it in my fiction (books, movies, etc) especially ROMANCE -- never a fan of vulgarity.

Maybe I could take it in small dose. But when I had to read a 12k story with 53 "f*ck", 12 "bitch", "slut" and "f*cker", and all the c*ck talks, I felt highly annoyed and losing any feeling for the characters. Because of that, I don't enjoy the story at all.

Domashita, voy a seguir leyéndote, me has conquistado con Liev y Chris^^

I loved this, two snarky, dirty talking, horny teens ...besties with benefits so to speak and oh boy do these two enjoy each others company. A lot! But this isn't just a smutty tale about curious lads experimenting its a really sweet love story, with a poignant twist that once again kept me glued till the very end. Second story I've loved and rated 5 stars by the talented Domashita aka whitachi and just more incentive to go out and hunt down all her free stories, because she's pretty damn awesome.

  O  O
\_____/   <----  thats me with a dumb grin on my face right now.   This was just so funny and touching and real.   While this short story is hot and dirty and sweet,  Domashita Romero knocks it out of the park  for her spot on portrayal of young people exploring and gently pushing boundaries and learning about sex.   When Chris challenges Liev to a game of "show me yours and I'll show you mine" it could have gone horribly wrong.  Instead, Chris was left with a heady mix of excitement and disbelief when Liev accepted his challenge.   Game on, they learn about sex and each other just like horney teens should, behind closed bedroom doors out of parental sight, but not out of earshot.  And sex in the car, lots of sex in the car.  Then there is that delicious moment when finally you are together in a motel bed away from any parental units and you can let loose.  Yep, East captured some magic that wasn't about "OMG I'm gay" or "my parents suck" but rather the journey of going from clueless virgins to, well non-virgins, and finding a special bond along the way.

This just hit close to home. I was holding my breath the entire time wondering if they'd get caught or something goes wrong. But it's a fast-paced story filled with love, friendship, and drama. I liked the first-time sexual experiences shared in the story as well which were very real and intimate.

Dang, almost like being there right next to Liev and Chris as they go through their mutant teen-age horny stage.

This is real-thing coming-of-age stuff. The smack talk, the double-dawg-dare attitudes, the discovery, the fear. There are some heavy bits with Chris’ homophobic father but in general…

it’s all about the cock
and the heady electricity of the first-time and the beginning.

Liev is the instigator, the leader, knows just how to get what he wants and he’s got Chris’ number— throws the bait and reels him in hook, line and sinker. This is hot, spanky, prurient stuff. Oh, fun. I want more.

Oh wow. Definitely my favourite story by this author so far. It was absolutely amazing.

This is such a short story but these few pages got me so attached to Liev and Chris. You can't not fall for them, you can't not want them to be happy and for them to get out of that shitty town.

Above the love they have for each other, I loved their friendship. They are best friends first and foremost and it just happens that they also love each other so much and they're just meant to be (yes yes I'm a sap, but blame the author; this story made me feel all mushy inside). There is so much tenderness between them, but they're also playful with each other and of course they always want to jump each other's bones. The dialogues were hilarious; one short sentence and it had me cracking up. It's actually something I noticed from reading other stories by this author: the humour doesn't feel forces and it's right up my alley in terms of humour.

Honestly, there's nothing I can say here that would pay tribute to this story enough, so just go read. ASAP.

4.5 stars Swoon. Where has Domashita Romero been all my life?!? Amazing, the only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I'm trying to blackmail Domashita to do a follow-up story about Chris and Liev! So funny (as always) and sweet (of course) and dirty (yes, please) and just. fucking. nice. Gives me the warm feels in my belly. Not too perfect or easy, but also no forced drama . Me love.

Not going to rate this, as it's well-written, and I went into reading it with a lifted eyebrow--knowing it's about a tricky subject.

Yet even though well-written (though I dislike the vulgarity), it's quite simply not at all my thing. Similar issues of maturity dissonance as the ones I had with How to Repair a Mechanical Heart.

So much relationship development in a few short words. There's humor and heartache and youth and love and hope. The best bit is how it all feels so very real. So real, in fact, I bet similar stories are going on all over the place right now.

I think you'll love being inside Chris' head. His self-doubt and questioning are just so...normal. He's so easy to identify with. And Liev is just perfect.

The only thing I wished was clearer in this book was a flashback scene where I wasn't quite sure where/when I entered it. It could have just been my kindle copy that didn't quite show editing marks or some sort of definition. Nonetheless, it all works out just fine.

This mostly sweet story ends with a strong HFN and even though the reader (and characters) has to go through some dark spots, it's all worth it.

**Side note** Whoever is marking this as a YA, no, I don't think so. This has fully developed sex scenes and is intended for adult audiences (correct me if I'm wrong). YA means the book is intended for young adult readers, not that it's about young adults. This is adult fiction.

What an adorable little story! Packed quite a punch in such few lines.

Chris was very adorable with his insecurities and doubts. And I liked how the relationship was portrayed between Liev and Chris. They talked dirty to each other, and had amazing sex and still managed to show emotion, like the time the kissed for the first time, or Liev locked the door because Chris was worried. Or how Liev tried to defend him in front of Chris' dad. How Liev went out of his way to get Chris to a college and when that didn't work, took him away from his messed up home.

My small peeves were with the 'bitch' calling. While I understood it was part of their relationship, it made me cringe at times. And also the fact that Chris just gave up on any hope of going to college and Liev was ok with that. I would have liked both of them to fight for a better future. Sure, Chris had to leave his family and try for a better life but that meant college too.

Still, a very emotional story, plenty of hot sex and a couple of adorable teenagers finding their way in life and in love.

This one snuck up on me. For the first half, it's a story about that awkward, unavoidable, scary, hot and fun world of first sexual experiences. And when it's with a friend, someone who's always had your back? Even better. And when you have that first one that makes the planets align and your body respond to such a phenomenon? The best.

Then, wow, emotional gut punch. Things take on much more meaning than anticipated. Love that.

I realized at the end that I was cheering for these two to make it. At what? To where? I'll let you feel that for yourself. Just know it's fantastic.

There were a few things too clever for their own good, but we are talking about two 18-yr kids here. ;)

Definitely recommend.
