Chevelle Donahue thought going into work would be just like any other boring day at the mall. Sure, there was her annoying co-worker Wicken Sanders, and a promotional visit from teen heartthrob Timber Hudson, to watch and keep her entertained. But who was she kidding? Working retail was lame no matter what happened.

A terrorist attack changes everything - an attack from aliens of all things. The patrons are given two options: comply or else. Complying means giving in to a new set of rules and changing her entire life. "Or else" means she has no chance of going home again.

She must figure out the truth behind why the aliens are holding everyone hostage. In doing so, she risks her chance at freedom - but by the time she learns what's really happening, she might not want it.

Was mir gefällt:
Die drei sind nicht automatisch die mutigen Superhelden - im Gegenteil: Chevelle und Timber entscheiden sich brav den Anweisungen der Aliens zu folgen. Da überlegt man, was man selber in einem solchen Moment machen würde.

This book really blew me away. Just from the blurb, Chevelle sounded like a fun character, so I figured it was worth giving it a shot. I'm pleased that I did, because this book is fantastic. I loved how it's written as if it's a journal, but at the same time, not. Since the characters are looking back on the story being told, you know that at least as of now, and in the near future, they're alive to tell their story. Of course, I couldn't help but wonder where they were.

Chevelle and Timber are an interesting duo, but I really wanted to see Chevelle and Wicken together from the start.. I was so worried that Wicken would be forgotten when he seemed like such a fun and lively character. I am very pleased that there was no love triangle here! That starts to get old after a bit, and with such a fresh and new story, I really didn't want to see the same old plot.

Wicken's new habitation has a dystopian for me (really even the surface had that undeniable feeling that something was wrong). I felt so terribly that he was in such a bad situation when he's genuinely a great guy. Trouble just seems to follow him, and although it's a shame, it makes for a great story.

I love this book and I definitely want more! This is a new author for me, but I hope she's got her typing fingers primed and ready to go, because I need more of Chevelle, Wicken and Timber's story! Anyone that enjoys a scifi YA should definitely read this book.

Note: I received a copy of this book from the author for honest review.

I have to admit, this is my first attempt at an alien-abduction sci-fi novel. And I can honestly say that I am anything but disappointed!

From the first few chapters, I was hooked. I literally found myself struggling to put it down and get into my daily routine. I had to put it on my Kindle Cloud so I could get through some chapters at work!

The writing is comfortingly casual. It reads through like a private journal, which gives each of the characters a surprisingly unique but typically "my generation" voice, each of their own. The book skips between the points of view of each of the three main characters, which allows you to be immersed not just in the mind of one, but of all three of the pivotal characters in the plot of the story.

Jenkins captures the emotions beautifully, while infusing a slew of emotions from the reader. I found myself at times laughing with them, crying with them, or bubbling with anger. She creates a world that is terrifying while also deeply intriguing. The reader is forced to trudge through the story with the same air of mystery as the characters themselves, only revealing details slowly. Sprinkle in a few anger-inducing villains and you've got yourself a great, must have read.

Be warned, to say the ending's a bit of a cliffhanger is an understatement. And boy, does she leave you ready and waiting for the next installment. It is definitely a series I am looking forward to finishing.

talk about instant teleporting! the moment I started reading I was no longer in my living room I was in chevelle, wicken, and timbers world. even before they are taking you get this eerie feeling and that feel is through out the book. your just not sure what these aliens are really up to. once the three are taken from a mall and teleported to the ship the whole awesome story truly begins. you can feel their fear, confusion, and their anger and you can most certainly can see this ship in your mind as the story is told. as you read along you may think there is going to be a live triangle but thank goodness that wasn't the case. Ms. Jenkins took a totally different route for the love story and it was awesome! this story is written as if the characters are reading back through their journals. I loved this approach. you get three character's telling the story but yet they don't repeat the same info but carry on with it. I loved thus style of writing. if you don't like alien stories don't count this one out it is more from the human view. I had not read books from this author before but that will soon change! Ms. Jenkins gave me the wonderful opportunity to review her book and give an honest review. I can honestly say I loved this book from beginning to end and I cant wait for book number 2!!!!

Holy smokes if I don't get a book two soon I'm going to be one irritable person!
This isn't the kind of book I would see myself getting into, I'm not really an alien persons. Give me a paranormal romance and I'll be very happy. This book has made me see I need to start opening my horizons because this book blew me away!
Our main characters are great, real people with real feelings. What I really liked about them is how much they hoped, how much kept to who they were for as long and hard as tey could. I know in that situation I would be a completely different story.
The plot was definitely different. I've never read a book like this before, from the beginning I was hooked. With several turns in the plot that made me happy, upset and brought out the urge to murder someone, I was on my toes enjoying every curve ball that was thrown my way. Is it wrong that I had a dream about being taken like aliens similar to these last night? Or that I wouldn't mind these aliens taking me so much, especially knowing what I know now? It's not wrong? Yay ^.^
This book was way too good to be true for me, so after sleeping on it and double checking it was still there, I know it's real. I need a book two. I need a follow up on these great characters and their great plot. I'm sure after you read it you will too.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

You wake up, go to work, come home, study, and go to sleep. This was the life that Chevelle lead, until the day she didn’t. On a day that she was working with Wicken, aliens attack - well, more like kidnap. Chevelle and her friends’ lives will be forever changed. What happens is why you have to read the book.

This book is written from 3 points of view, which you would think would be confusing. I was surprised to say that there was no confusion. The author hit their view perfectly and being told though so many eyes really added to the storyline. I love that the author used both male and female points of view and both were well written. I will say I love Wicken. He is, by far, the character that I admire the most and still have questions about. Though you know in this book there are aliens, in all honesty they are not an overwhelming presence throughout the book. I hope that there is a book 2 and gives us more aliens. I feel as though there was a lot left unsaid.

This was a sci-fi read so a fun change of pace from all my paranormal/urban fantasy reads. The premise is Chevelle get taken by an alien race along with her friend Wicken and superstar Timber. She has to pretend to be together with Timber while still searching for Wicken. It is a mystery type of novel as you really don’t know why the aliens took people by force yet let them life quite comfortably. You find out in the end as the cliffhanger is set. This book jumped view points from all three characters- which I normally don’t like, but it worked here. You got to see more of Wicken’s tale since he was missing for more than half the book and Chevelle was worried about him. Fun sci-fi alien read.

Chevelle, Wicken, and Timber are some really great characters. It takes a little bit to get to know them but when you do they grow on you. I haven't read many alien abduction books but I have to say I feel in love with this one. The endig really threw me and know I can't wait until the next book comes out so that I can see what happens next. I hope everyone gets what they want.

This book wasn’t the type of book I would normally read but once I stuck to it, I wasn’t disappointed. This book has made me want to read more outside of my comfort zone and I’m grateful for that, was totally worth the read.

Displaced Space Opera

Slight spoiler:

I found this scifi to be a bit dry as well as the characters. The storyline left me wanting more action or angst... something. There were also 3 points-of-view and that is one two many for me. Somehow I felt some of the scenes with some characters were left without continuing (ex. Patriarch...I thought he would have more of a role and in the middle of the book we are led to believe Paul is not to be trusted then by the end nothing shows whether he is or not trustworthy.)

This book has potential, but needs more believable characters and a rewrite.

This was a very enjoyable read that I am happy that I had a chance to read. You will not be disappointed in this book. It has a very interesting story, moves along at an amazing pace and has characters that are so real like that you feel like you know them personally.

This book needs to be read, you will not be sorry that you did.

This is an action-packed first book. The three main characters were relatable and sympathetic. It was easy to connect with them and care about their problems that they encountered living on an alien spaceship. Now that there's another alien race, I'm excited to see what the sequel has in store!

I want to start off by saying that I love the characters names. They are so unique and they really fit their character. This is my first alien book and honestly I really didn't know what to expect. The synopsis sounded pretty interesting but I was curious as to how it was going to come together. Was it going to be good, or just weird?? Well, I am happy to say that it was really good! I really enjoyed it. It kept a steady pace and switched between the 3 main characters POV, that helped you get a grasp of the story from all sides. Sometimes the characters were too perky or too cranky but that's just how they deal with tough situations. Other characters, I really didn't like. At. All. It ended as a great intro into book 2. I look forward to starting that one real soon. Good job!

A Good Read

An interesting premise and plot, worth following up. Watch for hidden twists that will show up in Invited. I give it a solid 4 stars.
