Ethics in Action

Rate this book
The ETHICS IN ACTION program brings to life the ethical issues and dilemmas counselors often encounter-and provides ample opportunity for discussion, self-exploration, and problem solving of the issues and dilemmas. The 22 video vignettes are based on a workshop for a group of counseling students, which included challenging questions and lively discussion, role-plays, and comments from the students and the group leaders. This educational program is divided into three segments: ethical decision-making, values and the helping relationship, and boundary issues and multiple relationships in counseling. The accompanying workbook (delivered online via CourseMate and in print with the DVD) involves users in interactive learning as they view the video program. Includes 1 term (6 months) printed access card.

Not the most cutting edge in technology in the presentation, but the material covered is excellent, and the role play is very good. I enjoyed the layout of the program having thought provoking questions prior to viewing the video, after you view the role play, then after you view the class discussion. The laid back environment of the video was helpful to me, as that is definitely more of my style. That is not to suggest degradation of professionalism which must be maintained happens. I believe that one can maintain their professionalism while creating a more client friendly environment, as is portrayed in this material. I would have given it 3.5 stars but only whole stars are allowed.
