Rate this book
Mateo Amador is a misfit. Growing up poor on a peach orchard in small town Georgia left him isolated. Only when he was thrown into detention with a three other delinquents did he find a sense of belonging. Now grown, the four men from Between, Georgia, are successful business partners in Savannah, but Mateo has never shaken his loneliness.

Alanna Brannon belongs to one of the oldest families in town. Their name is featured on buildings and in the paper. But, Alanna feels like an oddball next to her beauty queen sister and CEO brother. She sick of the bow-tie wearing preppy boys in her social circle.

When their paths cross unexpectedly, Alanna can’t focus on anything except getting into sexy, grumpy Mateo’s pants. Big, bad Mateo is terrified of hurting Alanna in bed and out, but he realizes too late it’s his heart that is in the real danger.

Stuff your kindle day claims another victim. Book would probably be 50 pages shorter if you took out the MMC’s inner monologuing about preferences for a one and done, hard, rough fucking with tall dark quiet women. Only to be followed up with him having inner dialogue about comparing his times with other women while the FMC is riding his dick. There is thin line between alpha hole and dickwad, this author leaned into dickwad to much for me.

I’d probably give this a 3.5. It is smut, but there’s a bit of a story as well. I think it could have done well as a longer book to allow for development and still have a lot of spice. Portions come off a little cheesy, which is not surprising. There are a few more books in the series that I wild read if I come across it.
