I've been writing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I write across genres, both fiction and non fiction, but most of my 20 books focus on mindfulness or mind power. I write humor, spiritual, and science. I love to share what I learn with whomever is interested in reading it.
I teach at various colleges and universities, and do some corporate consulting .
Twenty year old Casey Anderson's life changes forever when her father, the Colonel, suddenly dies from a heart attack. After the funeral, Casey goes into her father's home office and while searching through his desk, she comes across a file folder that held her father's Last Will & Testament and another document, Evidence of Adoption! From reading the document Casey discovers that she was adopted at the age of four, but has no recollection of her past. Casey questions why her parents never told her about her adoption, has her life been nothing but a lie? When she confronts her mother Jan about her adoption, she is vague and offers little information, leaving Casey to embark on a difficult quest to find her birth mother and get answers about who she is, where she came from, and why she was given up for adoption.
In Casey's Quest, author Tamara Lee Dorris weaves an intriguing story set in Sacramento, California, that has a fascinating mixture of mystery and suspense that will keep the reader turning the pages.
As the reader follows Casey on her quest to find her birth mother, the investigation starts out with an innocent intent to find out about her past, and quickly turns into a strange and dangerous journey, when she learns that her past includes classified military experiments involving the gift of remote viewing that puts her life at risk. And if that isn't enough, Casey takes her job as a bank representative in the asset management department (home mortgage and foreclosure) beyond her job description, when she tries to help a sick woman whose house has been wrongly scheduled for foreclosure, leading her to discover that there is the possibility of loan fraud occurring at the bank.
This intriguing story does have a slow start, but once the reader gets into the heart of the story, it will pique their interest with its suspenseful twists and turns. The story touches upon adoption, banking principles and real estate, Native American spirituality and shamanism, the gift of remote viewing and developing the ability, and classified military experiments and missions.
I really enjoyed following Casey on her quest, and while I did find her to be somewhat naive given her age, Casey's journey is filled with bizarre experiences that opens the door for more than Casey was expecting, and what she discovers is fascinating and kept me drawn in as the story unfolds. The author teases the readers with an open-ended conclusion, leaving them wanting more as Casey's quest continues in the sequel, Casey's Karma.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book tour event hosted by Chick Lit Plus Blog Tours.
Casey’s Quest by Tamara Lee Dorris introduces Casey a young woman looking for answers. When Casey’s father dies, she happens to stumble upon adoption papers in his desk. Casey starts to question everything about her life. She ask her mother Jan to explain what is going on but Jan tries to avoid the questions. Jan finally gives in and tells Casey what she knows which happens to be not much. Casey decides to find out about her parents on her own.
Casey goes on a journey that takes her to Thomas. Thomas was a friend of her biological mother and explains to Casey that she is special. Casey is confused but has always believed she was different. Casey meets Andrew whom she is attracted to. Andrew knew her mother through his parents. Casey starts to learn a lot about herself, the parents who raised her and her biological mother.
This was an entertaining, suspenseful book with a hint of mystery and a consistent storyline. The main character goes through a lot to get answers and still had time to uncover the mischievous behavior of her new employer. This book had me intrigued and wanting to know if Casey would ever find out who she really is. I recommend Casey’s Quest to others.

Good story....however, I didn't like the end....the author ended it with a line intended to make the reader buy the next book in series, and didn't even try to disguise her motive. So, I am curious about the next book, however, I won't buy it because I refuse to pay for a book that has terrible grammar and no editing. Words are repeated, -ing or -es or -s is left off of many words. Words are misspelled. I don't care how creative your writing is, if you cannot spell, or type correctly, then hire an editor! This was a free book, thankfully, because I would be annoyed if I had paid for this.
Having said that, the story line is good, not entirely believable, but I enjoyed the suspense and mystery, and would read another of her books if it is free(I'll try to ignore the lack of editing).
Casey's Quest is an intriguing read with likable characters, good solid writing that's easy to follow, and a good story line. Now, that being said, it is a bit predictable and sometimes even unbelievable, but overall I did like the story. Casey's whole life changes in the blink of an eye and all of a sudden she faces a whole new reality, pushing her on a journey to find not only herself, but her family as well. There are some good, heartfelt emotions in the story, but they don't always come across as strong as I thought they would. Overall, I did enjoy the story and will be looking for other titles by this author.
I have also read Secrets of a Spiritual Guru by Tamara Lee Dorris, and really enjoyed it. Casey’s Quest is a different writing style from this author, but I thought this book was really intriguing to read. I’m a fan of a bit of a paranormal twist in my books, and this one delivered just that. This is a quick read that really sets the stage for a sequel, and I’m looking forward to reading that one as well. It’s great to see an author with range, and I highly recommend Tamara Lee Dorris!
I wasn't sure what to expect, especially with Casey working at the Bank in the foreclosure department, which is all negative to me after the past few years selling real estate. Great twists and turns throughout. Funny, scary, on the edge of my seat, kind of reading! Can't wait to read the next one!!
I think this fits in as mostly a contemporary drama, albeit, I've added a bit about real estate, shamanism & mind power (remote viewing) but it's definitely not paranormal. Just a decent story that I hope most people will relate to.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book about "remote viewing" and Indian Shamen. I wish I'd known there was (will be) a book 2 coming out in 2014...will be interesting to know how this all ends.
