Kat Daughtry's SteamFate is the "Game Of Thrones" of Steampunk!! Every twist and every turn sucks you in further and further. This is a definitely a must read. This lady has the ability, not only to create a world, but make you never want to leave. Her steampunk inventions and ultimately her Revolution blow you away. Oh yeah, It's one hell of an Erotica, as well!!

Cheers and Happy Reading!

I just finished reading this book and I feel like my heart is breaking into a million pieces.

First I should say that sometimes I'll read a book in 2 hours and sometimes I'll read it in a few years; great books come from both categories (It's taking me even longer to finish Harry Potter 4). It all depends on how much information is fed into my brain, because I'm quite a slow reactor. Some books I need to read slowly because I don't want to miss anything, and I'm very glad that's how I approached my experience with Steamfate.

I am so sad for things that can go wrong, how two people who love each other don't get to be together. I am going to re-read this book, because I feel there are a lot of layers of this story to be absorbed. It is clever on so many levels.

Zona is complicated yet not, a tiny bit fragile but 99% made of pure strength. I absolutely hated Isabelle and I did not like the fact that it was hard to know who to trust or who was honest.

There were so many twists I did not expect and like I said, I will have to read this book over again to get the full effect of it, because it is obvious the author labored greatly over this novel. There are a number of great quotes that I will always remember.

What an amazing accomplishment of the author. When she writes more, we can be sure it's going to make the reader feel the same romance, betrayal, and outrage that the characters do.

I recieved a copy of this book from a Goodreads giveaway for reviewing purposes.

This book was amazing! It contained a lot of sexy funtimes throughout the book but also had an interesting story to go along with it.

First let me start with the main characters. I loved Zona who always seemed to be working towards some sort of end goal but was always willing to give herself fully to the cause she was fighting for and in her feelings towards others. As for Adam I found him somewhat of an enigma sense he could never seem to commit to anything he thinks or feels about.

The story was wonderful and far more in-depth then what I was expecting to come from an erotic novel. In fact I got more into the story then the sex scenes at times. It wasn't just a story about the steam revolution but about those involved. Whether one could overcome their fears and obligations to truly set themselves free, or if they'll let someone else make that choice for them. And if a person is willing to give up on things/people that work against them.

I picked this up for Kindle because I was looking for some more steampunk books and this one had very high reviews. I really should have done a bit more research on this, this was really not my thing at all. I stopped reading it about 20% of the way in.

Adam is a Magistrate who likes to paint. He has a private studio where he goes when his wife is off taking care of her own social obligations. However this time when he goes to his studio a lovely but dangerous young woman is there named Zora.

The first 20% of this book was basically one long sex scene. While I don’t mind erotica, there were a lot of undertones hear that I didn’t enjoy. Adam is a married man who protests against being accosted by Zora, the beautiful dominating criminal who breaks into his painting studio.

Despite his protests she has sex with him anyway, which I guess is supposed to be okay because he’s a man and really wants it even though he originally says no. In general the whole thing is kind of well...yucky feeling. I don’t like it when forced sex is prettied up to be erotic and tempting...it’s just not right. I suppose you could say he wasn’t forced, he was eventually coerced to say yes...but in my opinion that’s a pretty fine line.

The writing was okay but not great. The whole thing is pretty awkward and there is no story here. The book briefly talks about revolutionary bombers and that is mentioned again around the 15% mark. However, as I said above the first part is just a really long sex scene and it’s mediocre at best. It’s hard for me to really enjoy and get involved in a scene like this when it’s hollow and I don’t like (or even know much about) the characters.

There really isn’t all that much steampunk here, I guess the setting is loosely steampunk. I possibly didn’t get far enough into the story to see some of the steampunk elements. However, if I am nearly 25% through a book and I still don’t understand the setting/world then it needs some work.

Overall this was not for me. The simple writing style, skeleton of a story, and unlikable characters made this go past “okay” down to “I do not like this”. For those who are really into the dom/sub scene and don’t mind borderline non-consensual sex being glorified you might enjoy this. I would not recommend picking this up if you are looking for a good steampunk adventure with some romance.

The writing, particularly in the very frequent sex scenes, was very much not to my taste. And then the ending was equally disappointing
