Good Biography. The biographer knew Spurgeon and was one of his students. He gives a good testimony of the man.

The book aims at the brilliance and touching person Spurgeon was. Not intellectuall brilliance or anything of that sort. The brilliance of a man that was honest, bold, and straightforward with the truth. A soulwinner, a man who loved God and loved pointing guilty, vile sinners to that great, all-awesome, amazing God in the person of the lovely Lord Jesus.

Spurgeon is a champion of the Faith. He ought to be taught in Christian households and Churches. A man we ought to look up to and imitate. He was a man close to Christ and oh how he loved Jesus. Even by reading how he spoke of Jesus makes you envy this great man whom he loves. Who is this man? You might say. He loves this Jesus figure so much, and speaks about him in such a way as to make me think, “Have I ever read about this man?”.

I cry when I read his words about Christ. His love for others, his wife, his friends, his flock, his students, his fellow believers, he acknowledges the very oxygen he breathes is a grace. He never scoffed about his successes, he prayed incessantly. He preached the Word faithfully. Unashamed of God’s truth. A mighty man of the faith he was. A worm that was pardoned by Jesus the Nazareen and a life committed to showing the beauty of that man who bore his sins, and now he is gazing at Christ, and enjoying him till we come and do the same. His voice still echoes down in the world, and may God grant more people to hear of that man who loved his saviour.

Of Spurgeon’s biographers, Carlie has perhaps the best prose.

I thought this was a book for young children but decided to read it because children's books are a great, fast way to gain information. I'm amazed at this man and can't wait to read more about him now. This really isn't a book for young children...great for adults! Inspiring and challenges me to live better for Christ.

Although a concise biography, it draws heavily from long quotations that makes it hard to read. It's as if several writers wrote this and thus breaks up the narrative flow.

A concise biography of Spurgeon. It was interesting to learn of his health challenges and how he was sometimes plagued with depression. An inspiring man.

When I first read this book I had no clue what an orator was. But now I do and wish I was a great orator like C. H. here

How can a man who has had no collegiate training become a pastor and create a school to train thousands of pastors? This humble man did.

I read this book and was just amazed by the legacy he left. And that he told short but strong sermons when he would preach to his congregation.

I think this book is really neat and I hope that people read his story.

A man of Jesus who gave his full life to Christ.

I was inspired by the hard work and the unceasing care for "humanity" that seemed to characterize Spurgeon's life.

He was a famous man who truly never ceased to care about individual people.

I loved this book! But it's abridged. I look forward to reading a fuller biography of such a great man of faith!
