Club Volare #5

Taken by Chance

Rate this book
~~ The newest edition in the USA TODAY bestselling Club Volare series, TAKEN BY CHANCE is an emotional, erotic romance about facing your fears. It is a stand alone novel that contains mature themes and content perfect for fans of FSOG or the Crossfire series. ~~ Lena Simone Maddox's life has been turned upside down. Trying to make it as an actress in LA while retaining her dignity has always been tough, but now? Her ex has leaked pictures. The kinds of pictures you don't want anyone to see. The kinds of pictures Lena didn't even know existed. So much for dignity--or respect. And so much for trusting men. Lena's been screwed over too many times to open her heart to anyone, ever again. So why does she have to keep reminding herself of that fact whenever she's around Chance Dalton? The owner of Volare LA and overall player is the guy who gets the paparazzi off her back. He's the gorgeous Dom who can actually make her feel sexual, even after all that's happened. And he's the one man who might be able to earn Lena's trust. Lena begs him to train her as a submissive, hoping to reclaim that part of her identity after her ex has taken everything else. But Chance has demons of his own. Things that happened years ago, things that he won't talk about. When Lena finds herself falling for the fiery Dom, she freaks. Can she trust this man with her heart? Will Chance give her a choice? TAKEN BY CHANCE is #5 in the Club Volare series, but like all the books in this series, it can be read as a stand alone. I have an overactive imagination and too much time on my hands, and the result is...well, lots of books! Which is probably better than the alternative. ;)

I love writing steamy and erotic romances, some dark, some light, but always about something that moves me. And, because I'm totally a sucker, love tends to win out. Everyone deserves a happy ending. :)

My contemporary BDSM erotic romance series, Club Volare, has hit the genre bestseller charts on Amazon a few times, which is just awesome. Right now there are two books, Sold to the Sheikh and Tied to the Tycoon, with a third, Disciplined by the Dom, due in February 2013. And I've also got this paranormal series in the very beginning stages of development that I'm super excited about. When I'm not writing those, I'm gonna be reading -- if you've got any good recs, send them my way!

And if you want to hear about those new releases when they come out, you can sign up for my New Releases list here (I *only* use it for that; I hate spam so much!).

Lots of love, and happy reading!!

Chance Dalton runs Volare L.A. He is a Dom who has charm, exudes confidence, a magnetic personality, and pure alpha male. Yet, underneath all that, Chance has issues of his own.

Up and coming movie star Lena Simone Maddox is hiding from the world. Because of a recent scandal that took away, not only her privacy but her trust in people as well.

Being stalked by the paparazzi, Lena has no choice but to hide in her home. Yes Chance has noticed her before. But it was not Lena the movie star who has made the gossip tabloids. It was Lena, the beautiful woman who lives across from Volare. When they meet, there is an instant attraction, one who dominates and the other who submits. Chance wants to help Lena overcome her feelings of fear and distrust. Lena knows and wants Chance to be the one to help and “heal” her. Along the way, they discover that he needs her as much as she needs him. Together they help each other overcome the demons of their past. This read certainly did not lack in the “steam” department where at times I felt the flush on my face or the grin I could not hold back!

Taken by Chance a Club Volare novel is the second book I’ve read from author Chloe Cox who has now become one of my favorite authors. Thanks again Chloe for providing me with the ARC! I’m looking forward to Declan’s story and I hope the wait won’t be too long!

I have to say, for someone who isn’t as sold on the whole of the erotic romance genre as I once used to be, I find Chloe Cox’s writing so entertaining! Book number five in the Club Volare series, Taken by Chance, proves that to me once again!!

Chloe told me that she hates and agonizes over—as most authors do—writing the summary for a book. Well, I think she did a FAB job, and there isn’t much more I would add in a discussion of the storyline and plot. So, let’s get to the important stuff: what worked for me…and, because I’m a nitpick, what didn’t ;-)

So, actually, Taken by Chance is the first book I’ve read in this series, but, as Chloe Cox mentions, it can easily be read as a standalone. I had no difficulty coming late to the series. Everything was well explained and the author does a great job of introducing all of the characters and providing necessary backstory.

Chance Dalton was hot, sexy, dreamy, fun, domineering….oh, my. That man worked his (ahem) mojo, ladies!! He had a fantastic personality. I find so often that authors either write dark and broody or lighthearted and charming, but they are rarely able to combine all of the above and make me believe it. Chloe Cox pulled this off with ease and realism, and I LOVED IT!! This is a guy—minus some of the kink—that, in real life, I would totally want to know in the biblical sense ;-) Girlies, you will dig this dude in a major, major way!

Lena Maddox was a sympathetic character, and I feel like her story is one women can relate to. She was wary, scared, distrustful, feeling hunted, and yet she maintained the ability to go with her gut and trust her instincts when it came to Chance. She took a chance with him and would up getting far more than she anticipated. I will say that I would have liked just a bit more depth to her character, a little more exploration of her situation, a smidge more realistic emotion and reaction.

For the minimal amount of page time that Thea, Lena’s elderly friend and landlord, received, honestly, she was one of my favorite parts of this story. What a fun, vivacious, open-minded, lovely woman she was. She’s another character that I would LOVE to know in real life!

A note to those wondering, Taken by Chance is what I call BDSM-lite. There’s nothing dark or psychological here. It’s not too deep. There isn’t an in-depth exploration of all of the intricacies of the BDSM lifestyle. Taken by Chance is mostly fun and sexy…a lot of fun and sexy ;-) Enjoy it for exactly what it is!

What I love most about Chloe Cox’s writing is her dialog!! This author has a gift for natural yet fun and smoothly-delivered dialog. For me, personally, there is just no way that I cannot overstate the importance of authentic-sounding, well-written AND entertaining dialog. It is one of the things that can easily make or break a story for me. Chloe Cox makes her stories in this way, no doubt about it!!

Book five of the Volare series by Chloe Cox available on Amazon kindle unlimited Audible
This book is about Lola's cousin Chance who has left is secret black ops life to open the LA Volare club.
when he moved in he meet a film actress that is being hounded by pap's because her ex boyfriend took pictures of them in BDSM situation where Lena is tied up and in a compromising situation. now pa
are wanting a interview and pictures of her so she can't leave her home. Chance is a white knight he loves to save people so help Lena leave her house but while they are together z
she realises this open up an opportunity for her to explore her BDSM side.
This book was is a lot more laid back and i loved how easy Chance was on Lena and letting her explore her BDSM. Loved this book and how much Lena developed in this book but also how much she got Chance to come to terms with his past and help him move forward with Lena.
Great HEA

Another Volare book that will not disappoint! Chance & Lena have a connection with one another that won't be touched without overcoming their own personal battles. I can relate to Lena, how can anyone cross a line with someone and only expect it to blow up in her face when she's had nothing but a history of just that? These are a line of people that don't even have half the spark he has with Chance. It would only devastate her if the one person that means the most to her does exactly that. It's just easier to avoid the possibility of love and have a Dom/Sub relationship and keep her heart to herself. With so much self-doubt....Chance is only going to just have to step up to the plate for her once he's overcomes his past and bring Lena to his side where he needs her. This is an honest review in exchange for ARC

This was such an amazing read! I loved Chance and Lena. This is truly a story of two lost souls coming together and healing each other. Of course it is HOT! As per usual for the Volare Series. Chloe really develops these characters in such an amazing way...I feel like I am sitting there watching in person. I loved the appearance of Lola and what she had to offer. I also found this to be a story that could actually be true in Hollywood. I loved how protective Chance is. But who doesn't love Alpha male! Whew! I also really enjoyed Thea's story. She is an amazing lady and I enjoyed the interaction between her and Lena. New hole this book can be read as a stand alone, I suggest that you read the previous books in the Volare Series first. Those are wonderful as well!

I loved the story of Chance and Lena and I like how the story has moved to the L.A Club now as it allows us to get to know more wonderful characters....

I only recently discovered this author and these books so I was able to devour all 5 books over the course of just a few short days, and now that I'm finished I feel like I'm going to go into book withdrawl...

Looking forward to Declan's story next and can I just say that I also cant wait for Ford's story....

I just LOVED this book! Lena and Chance's love story was surprising, hot and left me wanting MORE!! I have read all of Chloe's books, and I truly loved this one the best. It is a wonderful story of how a couple go from a Dom/Sub relationship to a warm, funny, surprising love relationship. Like other readers, I did not want this book to end. Please Chloe give us more of Lena and Chance. Your books just keep getting better and better!! I could not put this down, I read it in two nights and then re-read the last 4 chapters again! Great job Chloe!! I cannot wait for Declan's story!!!

I loved this book. I really love the hero Chance he was so Alpha male with a touch of Teddy Bear. I loved how he protected Lena from the start a man from my heart. Both had things in there past that they needed to work through and what helped was being with each other, pushing the others boundaries. I enjoyed the plot wasn't ready for it to book to end. This is a must read. Two Thumbs up to the author Chloe Cox.

3.5 stars for a hot read :)

I have to admit that I didn't particularly like the first 30% of the book as initially I couldn't warm up with the MC and the story dragged along a bit. But once I got to know Lena & Chase a bit better, I couldn't put down the book and read it in one sitting.

The sex is just hot and ...well ...hot, there's actually a small plot with the whole photo-backstory, and Chase is such a nice alpha-caveman that now I want one for myself ;).

Lena needs protection

Lena's loser ex took photos off her when she was blindfolded and chained up then leaked them to the public. Her career is over and she's being hounded by photographers. Chance steps in to help her and she asks him to be her Dom.

She has trouble trusting people and doesn't believe in herself. Chance helps her understand her sub side. He doesn't think he's a good person but she thinks he is.

Their connection is hot and they begin to heal each other. This was a good standalone with HEA.

There isn't anything wrong with this book per se, it's just that I've had it on my TBR forever and since I purchased it, I have come to realize that I don't enjoy erotica that much, in particular BDSM books. And this book is both. I don't find the whole Dom/sub genre hot, but if you do, you will probably enjoy this book. It is well written and there is somewhat of a story in there, although the main focus is the sex, most of which I skipped over.

I skimmed most of this story looking for some connection, some reason to linger over the story.
There is probably a story in there, although the main focus is the sex, lots of it, all the time, and it's not very spicy either. It's boring without some character development. There is a weak plot about a stalker photographer. Too much narration.

Naughty or nice

This is a romance book with a touch of domination. The dom scenes are not terrible and actually she loves them. He will take care of her and protect her. She’s afraid of love, but he’ll help her to overcome.

I just finished this book and I have got to say it was great! Chance is dealing with a past that has scarred him both emotionally and psychologically, but it has also helped to shape him into the man that he is today. While he knows that he has many issues he does not let those issues carry over into the way he treats Lena. This man knows how to treat a woman. Chance is a Dom, but but that does not mean that he is perfect, and he knows this. When Chance makes a mistake thinks things through rationally and does what he needs to do to fix his mistake. Lena is dealing with her own emotional demons, including an ex who is determined to make her life a living hell. When Lena meets Chance she knows that he would never intentionally hurt her and she asks him for the help that she needs to get her life back. Lena knows that Chance is the man who can help her to explore the side of herself that she has been keeping hidden, so she asks his to teach her how to submit, she wants him to be her Dom. With Chance's help Lena not only finds who she really is, she also realizes that she is worthy of things that she never thought she could ever have.

This is the first book I have read by Chloe Cox, but I know that I will be buying many more of her books after reading this. When Chance speaks in his Dom voice he will have you ready to follow all of his commands. I was also drawn to many of the other characters in this books and will be waiting to see what happens as they get to tell their stories in later books.

Now I off to find my own Chance!!!!!

Another great read by Chloe Cox. I was lucky to get an ARC of Taken by Chance and buried my nose in my Kindle until I was finished. Although it's part of the Club Volare series you can read it as a stand alone. Lot of steaminess in this book, light BDSM, right along with a HEA. Let's start with Chance. (Sigh) I think I fell in love a little bit in this book. Definitely a Dom with all that sexy bossiness but still a flirt. He's got his own demons but he's standing with Lena to fight hers as well. Lena confused me a little. She's got issues, I did get that but her distrust almost frustrated me at times. By the end though I really wanted Chance and Lena to get the HEA they both truly deserved. Thea, what a woman. Lena was so lucky to have such a good friend her outspokenness and humor made me really connect with her. I hope to one day make a friend like Thea. There's also a little appearance by Lola & Roman from Club Volare #4, which I enjoyed. I'm already waiting to read Declan's book ... we get a brief sneak peek into that as well.

This was a good read. I enjoyed the celebrity and pap issues. I liked how Lena was able to stand up for herself and wanting to learn to be a great Sub.

It seemed like it was missing something but I'm not sure what exactly. I get where Chloe was going with it but it was either rushed or just not enough on closing up the loops/gaps.

Chance was a good guy - patient, understanding and clearly takes his role as a Dom very serious. Lena seemed like she was meant to be a Sub but again their was something missing. I can't put my finger on it though...

I know this is a series but from reading the other book synposis it did not seem that the previous books were needed to be read to get this book... But maybe that is wrong, I'm not sure.

Again I enjoyed it - worth the read!

Loved the story line! If you want a knight in shining armor that has a whole lot of badboy Dom, Chance is your man. His soft side comes out in his falling in love and protecting Lena. The strong woman who handles life and its ups and downs, Lena is every woman who has tried and failed falling in love and being taken advantage of or exploited. Lena makes some bad decisions and Chance rides in with his muscle car to rescue the beautiful woman......who cana sk for anything more? Well how about the D's side that Chance awakens in Lena, absolitely spectacular.

Couldn't put it down until it was finished.

Ok...a review about Chance and Lena

It is so very hard to put into words the way that I feel about all of the Volare members.  For someone who has never been close to any of the aspects of the BSDM scene...these guys make me think about it really hard.  They are sexy, sweet and oh so dominating (for lack of a better word).  I may just read one to my husband to see what reaction I get ;).  I loved Chance and Lenas story....loved the domineering, protective, bad pass that is just him.   I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book.  Keep up the fantastic, steamy, sensual - steaming up my glasses good work.  Awesome.

Lena wants to keep her identity hidden, or at least quiet. She longs to write the movies and not act in them. Chance is all about hiding his own secrets. He has watched her from afar, but now she needed his help, and there he was taking charge and helping a damsel in distress. She really was submissive to his dominance. He never let anyone get close to him since he had Jenni when he was 19. He was drawn to Lena from the moment he met her....and soon fell in love. I have read every book so far in the Club Volare series, and have not been disappointed yet. LOVED IT!

Chloe Cox did it again!! She wrote an amazing book that I just couldn't put down, I read it in one day. I've been a fan of the club volare since the first book in the series. I loved Chance and Lena, two damaged people finding their happy ever after together, and let's not forget to mention the hot sex scenes. I love it when the Dom is controlling but yet affectionate and that is what Chance is, he pulled me in right from the beginning. If your a fan of Chloe Cox, this book will not disappoint you! It was a great read and I can't wait for the next book in this series!!

Chance. What more can I say? Chance really drew me in with his too short appearance in "Marrying the Master",and solidified my heart with his own story. Chance and Lena needed each other. The love was there of course, and the serious HOTNESS factor, but I really liked that they needed one another. Lena was a great woman for Chance, strong and fragile at the same time. Chance was exactly what she needed, without her knowing it. Chance can be my hero any day.

By Amber Michwich-Barham
Format:Kindle EditionOf all of the Club Volare series this one is by far my FAVORITE! An I feel like that after every new book. This is definitely a series that gets better as you go.

What I like most was that there was markedly more BDSM sex. I felt the love as always but I also felt her need to submit.

Over all GREAT READ!

I know there are probably a lot a people who are going to hate what I have to say but I did not like this book. I felt like I never connected with any of the characters. I didn't hate the book but I definitely wouldn't read it again. I also felt like the sex scenes weren't even that spicy. I wanted sexy scenes that literally oozed sex but I just couldn't connect. Overall a decent storyline but I just couldn't connect with the characters..

I feel this is the best of the lot so far, you could really feel the heat between Chance and Lena. When writing this kind of story we need to feel the chemistry between the two main characters, or the story doesn’t cut it. From the first time they met until the story ended, you could feel that heat.
