This is a very nice introduction to academic writing. High school students and first-year university students will find a lot of helpful information here.

The book reads like a slightly more accessible version of "They Say, I say" by Graff, et al. That means the main focus is placing your academic argument in the context of a larger debate on the topic. There are also some good tips about how to revise and polish your writing.

I just wish the authors had included a short section on given/new information flow. That's something I think a lot of new writers struggle to understand and improve on.

This literature was a decent read that I would encourage anyone to read in order to heighten their brainstorming and writing practices. The author provides relevant examples throughout the book to connect their ideas. Additionally, there are various templates that can be replicated to help in the research process. As a graduate student, this book has served as a great refresher to the mechanics of writing in and out of the classroom.

This book is the best book to learn about what is needed to write a good paper. I always hated writing formal reports but this book has made me like and completely understand writing.
