Rena “Red” Hoodman is on her way to her grandmother’s house. After a crazy year that ends with the loss of her job she agrees to cabin sit. Now, she’s trapped in the woods and drawn to a rugged mid-night blonde, onyx eyed handyman contracted to do work around the house. This man is no stranger to her, even if she’s suppressed those memories in her mind, her body knows. Years later, there’s still something about him that makes the hair stand-up on the back of her neck and her inner thighs sweat.

Cord Bjorn’s mate has finally come home again and this time the timing is perfect. With his father ruffling his fur about claiming his place in the county with a mate, Cord felt tied to a leash. Now, there’s a shift in the wind and Rena is her name. He still recalls the last summer she visited Den County and the kiss they shared beside the lake. Heat and attraction build until he and the sienna beauty find themselves tangled in sheets. A night that should have ended with a morning full of smiles, instead dawn breaks and truths unfold.

Red finds herself running for her life, from secrets and lies that she’s too afraid to accept.

I love romance, and writing is one of my greatest pleasures in life, outside of my husband and daughter. My belief in happily ever after began when I was sixteen and started reading romance books. Now, as an erotic romance author, I try to show that every woman, no matter her color, age, shape, or size, deserves a high level of passion in her life. Residing in North Carolina with my family.

This was another really good book by Ms. Hines. Cord has known since he was 16 years old who his life mate is he just has to find her again. Rena has been sick for a year and neither she or her doctor doesn't know why, after being fired from her job her grandmother talks her into coming for a visit. I really liked her grandma Genma she knew why Rena was sick she doesn't know she is a were-bear and all her life her mother told her she was allergic to fish and honey the two things that her body needs or she will die. Cords grandma and Genma conspire to bring the two together they know that they are life mates. I love reading this series this book was very well written and although I wished it was longer I liked it. After a night of love making Rena wakes up to find Cord in bear form the secret is out. I even loved the fact that although her mom was the cause of a lot of the problems going on, she too was able to get past her hurt and discover something new. I am glad that this story had a happy ending and I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

4.5 stars!

These books are my crack! These Were Bear shifter men are so damn sexy. The Were people and Den County are so fascinating! I just want to stay here forever.

I love the diversity in these stories. These men love every race, shape and the scent of their honey. I love these quick HOT reads.

The second in the series, and easily my favorite, the love story of Rena and Cord was Awesome Sauce. Honey Sauce, that is!

Rena 'Red' Hoodman is ill and doesn't realize that is killing her is the part of her she doesn't even know exists. Cord is the pining over 'the bear that got away' but willing to take his rightful place as mayor of Den County with a mate he knows is not his true match. Before he does, Red comes to visit Grandma Genma and recover after loosing her job. She 'meets' Cord again and discovers her attraction is more than physical but animalistic.

Great story! I wish I could have stayed in Den! All the love of family, friends, and mates poured off the pages. I loved how everything was described and detailed about Were people and their lifestyle. I can't wait to read the next one!

YOU CAN TAKE A 'WERE' OUT OF DEN COUNTY BUT, YOU CANN'T STOP THE SHIFTING.
3.75 stars. The story of Rena "Red" Hoodman and her life mate Corduroy "Cord" Bjorn is a paranormal delight of a read. Rena the offspring of a human father and a controlling were bear mother who has denied Rena any knowledge or contact with her shifter grandmother or the 'were' community of her birth is the bases of this entertaining story.

3.3 stars. I like the way this one started out a lot, but the couple didn't get together for a while and then were separated a bunch at the end which made the end feel like it was dragging quite a bit. still liked the set up and the characters. And the sex was hot. Will review for the Margins. :D

Was in the mood for a short story. Very good and couldn't put it down. I wish it would've been a full novel.

I love, love, love her fairy tale line of stories. Red's Bear was witty and sexy, especially when they wake up and make a discovery that changes their relationship. Well done, Ms. Hines.

Rena (Red) and Cord - Together at last

Loved this book! I can’t believe that Lillian was that stupid not to know that she was actually killing Rena, first by making her vegan and then telling her that she was allergic to honey and fish, especially salmon. Her excuse was she didn’t know if she had the Were gene because her father wasn’t Were. That was just a very weak and ignorant excuse.
Gramma Genma knew something was wrong and was able to get Rena to come to Den County. She and Cord’s grandmother knew that he and Rena were mates when Rena was 13 and Cord was 16, when Lillian took Rena away and never allowed her to visit again.
Needless to say, although Marcella tried everything to get Cord to mate with her it didn’t work. He only had eyes and nose for Rena. He is now the Mayor of Den and Rena is pregnant.

Ok, I HAVE to talk about the cover image.
I guess no one told the author that red doesnt really stands out in dark skin. Like, it doesnt really, thats why the cover artist made a white mark beside the awful vector.

The whole story with the bear paw mark made little to no sense.

The story was very nice, i guess? I read other two of this series but I feel like I'm mixing them all together...

The cover is a photoshop nightmare, I'm sorry, but I feel there are better looking things one can do.

Good read

I really enjoy a good shifter story. Rena (Red) and Cord were life mates who were seperated at a young age. A mysterious illness and a couple of meddling grannies and they get their happy ending.

Great continuation of the series

I really loved these characters and their grandmothers! The scheming was so funny. I do think it’s crazy that Rena’s mom didn’t realize what was wrong with her. Seemed so selfish

The book was ok for the most part. I enjoyed the love scene between red and cord but sometimes you couldn't figure out who was speaking, but all in all a good read on a rainy day.
