Blood Shadows #3

Shadow Healer

Rate this book

To reach the light, first they have to face the Shadows….

Riley has been a Healer long enough to know that some wounds can’t be mended. It doesn’t matter how much her Shadows want him, or how much she misses him, James tore their love apart with his lies and she simply can’t risk taking him back. But that doesn’t mean she’s going to stand aside and watch him sacrifice himself either….

James messed up. Badly. He betrayed the woman his Shadows chose, his friends, and his oath to protect the light. He doesn’t believe he’ll ever be worthy of Riley's forgiveness, but he still loves her all the same. And he will do everything he can to keep her safe. Even if it means trading his own life to guarantee hers.

There’s nowhere left to hide and time is up. Can Riley give James a second chance? Or will they stand apart, divided, while everything they love crumbles?

Shadow Healer, the final book in the Blood Shadows trilogy, is an adult paranormal romance for readers who love fated soulmates, second chances, found family, fast-paced adventure, and plenty of spice. Each book follows a different couple and has its own guaranteed HEA. Check author’s website for CW’s.

James and Riley’s story concludes the trilogy.

Jennie Lynn Roberts believes that every kickass heroine should have control of her own story, a swoony hero to fight beside her, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Because that doesn’t always happen in real life, she began creating her own worlds that work just the way they should. And she hasn’t looked back since.

Jennie would rather be writing than doing anything else—except for spending time with her gorgeous family, of course. But when she isn’t building vibrant new worlds, she can be found nattering with friends, baking up a storm, or strolling in the woods around her home in England.

I enjoyed reading the book. Rollercoaster of emotions. Amazing action scenes full of druid magic. This is the last book in the trilogy and what an ending! I was at the edge of my seat till the end. I recommend it.

Independent reviewer for Book Sirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is third book in the Blood Shadows trilogy and it CANNOT be read as a stand alone. You need to know what happened before, what James has done, and how he came to be in the mess of his making. And you know, cos I SAID SO!! Both books one and 2 were 5 star reads, and this one did not disappoint!

James knows what has happened before is entirely his fault. He trusted Gordon and look what happened. He lost the woman he loved, his friends, and his Shadows. Riley loved James, but she never actually voiced the words. Finding him again was bittersweet, though, given what he did and what has to happen now. They need to trust each other, but can they forgive?

Quoting from my review for book one, Shadow Guardian: James would be good, as the third in the Triad but that would mean he comes out of this mess. And if he does, he will be deeply damaged in many ways. Oh, he's gonna break my heart, I know he is! (Assuming he gets a book! *looks pleadingly at Ms Roberts!

And he did! James broke my heart, big time! But Riley as well. They had so much before, but neither had actually said what they felt, or where they wanted it to go, then Gordon came along and wrecked everything. Both of them suffered, deeply, in very different ways. It takes time for them to even speak to each other, but they need to reconnect to actually get one over on Gordon.

Gordon, the power tripping head of the council, makes his plans far more clearer here and it's not just the Norms of this world that will suffer if he gets his way. The Shadow Weavers will suffer, badly, if he gets his feet under the table and gets his way. One suffers here, and it wasn't easy to read, being Shadow stripped.

I think it does have a higher level of violence than the other books, but it really was needed. What Gordon did to James, and the others meant Gordon needed to be stopped at all costs. And it DOES cost, deeply, but it really was needed.

While heavy on the emotional side for James and Riley, I found it a little less explicit than the other books. The emotions are rife for Elizabeth and David too.

AND! The bad guy gets a say! Oh I love it when we hear from the bad guy! Now, I can't actually recall if we did before, cos I don't mention it, and ya;ll know how much I love getting the bad guy so I will always mention it, and we get Gordon in all his world dominating glory and I freaking loved it!

Writing this, even though it was an amazing third instalment, is making me sad. because it is the FINAL part of the trilogy and don't wanna leave them!

I can't wait to see what Roberts comes up with next. I'm really loving her mind and how she gets things across.

5 full and shiny stars, casting wonderfulyl coloured Shadows around!

SHADOW HEALER brings to a thrilling conclusion this amazing series that I have loved from the very first word. James and Riley have both made mistakes but will their love be strong enough to conquer their fears?

James - oh, boy. This man about broke my heart. He has made a multitude of mistakes, some of them absolutely horrible, but he has paid in so many ways. From a broken boy seeking love and acceptance to the man he is today, some things just don't change, no matter what. For James, it was his love for those around him, and how he will do anything to protect them.

Riley is a loner and not through choice. She has searched for friendship and acceptance, finding both in James' arms before he left her. She is determined to see things through and then intends to leave and start afresh someplace new. It takes someone looking in from the outside to point out that Riley has been holding back, putting up walls in an attempt to not get hurt. I could understand her reasoning and actions, even if I didn't like them.

Together, these two need to work together against the bigger threat - Gordon. What a character he is! A slimy piece of work and that's at his best. He is supported by the Council who are all as bad as he is. Weak and hungry for power is not a good combination.

This is a real page-turner with lots of emotions flooding the pages. My eyes leaked on more than one occasion - sometimes because I was happy, and other times not. I thought the ending was simply superb, giving me all I needed. I really hope this isn't the last we see of this world. Jennie Lynn Roberts is a one-click author for me and I HIGHLY recommend her latest masterpiece.

I loved this book, where we finally get to really understand James and his struggles and the reason for why he did what he did in the previous books.

We naturally get to meet all the wonderful characters again, but this book gives us the answers from the previous books.

This book has it all. Loyalty, which is shown when James leaves on his own to rejoin Gordon and his Council - but we soon realize it is not what is happening. James is trying to end it all on his own.

Luckily, his Circle of friends and family realize what is happening and saves James and then a war against Gordon and the council begins.

It is a really well-written book. The struggles these characters go through. The loss, the love, and the loyalty are remarkable in the end. It is what saves them all.

I will say it is a great ending to this series. I would, of course, love more books about these lovely people. Maybe their kids in the future.

I can definitely recommend reading this entire series and this book.

This book is the third and final book in the series. It is not a standalone story. It continues the story started in the first 2 books and focuses on James and Riley’s love story. James, a guardian, is troubled and damaged after his experiences with blood shadows and his treatment by Gordon and his parents. Riley, a healer, feels betrayed by James and is confused and hurt by his distance despite the connection they shared. They have to learn to express their love for each other, heal from past hurts as well as overcoming their fear and trust their connection to help them fight Gordon and the blood shadows he wields. I really enjoyed this conclusion to the trilogy and the development of the main characters as well as seeing how the couples from the previous books all came together to fight as a team. The characters are likable and sympathetic, and the chemistry is steamy! I was given an ARC for my honest review.

Jennie Lynn Roberts never disappoints with a new release and Shadow Healer is proof.

Shadow Healer is the third and final release from the Blood Shadow Trilogy, and Jennie has done one fantastic job with this release. It is well-written, easy to read, and a fast-paced adventure story. I love what she brought to the Trilogy and how the characters has grown from the beginning to the end.

A big decision made by James could lead to the end of his relationships including the woman chosen by his shadows, Riley.

Riley finds it difficult to forgive James for his decisions and is not sure if she will ever trust in him again. She will always be there to protect him.

The story of James and Riley has been an exciting adventure.

I would recommend the Blood Shadow Trilogy to the Adult Paranormal Romance readers out there.

A MUST-READ

Rcvd an advanced reader copy from booksirens for giving my two cents. It took me longer to read through this book. James' pity party was getting on my nerves so I had to put the books down many times. We met James in previous books being poisoned for by Gordon's blood shadows but now he is determined to keep Riley safe...she means the world to him and he doesn't want her goodness affected by his darkness. Riley will do anything to help James get better even if her heart breaks in half. Gordon threatens James friends if he doesn't go back to him and stupid enough James thinks she's keeping everyone safe. The group decides to take the fight to Gordon once and for all. Will they succeed or will Gordon get absolute power?

So different from the previous two books. Everything happens I think I held my breath the entirety of the book; including the end because with so many tragic circumstances and unexpected twist I was not letting my guard down until “The End”. Definitely more of a slow burn but then it’s a roaring bonfire..so worth the wait. As the previous books in the series there are many intense challenges faced which inspires hope even in the midst or imperfections and failure. To implement these life lesson although fiction will be rewarding to the individual that is willing! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This wasn't my favorite book in the series, but I loved how it tied everything together and finished off the series. I liked how the team worked together and it was a great book on learning to forgive yourself for mistakes that you made. One of the cool parts about the story was how the author tied the character's emotions to their shadows. It helped to see and understand the effects our emotions have on our ability to connect with others and how we feel about our own worth. Great series and I look forward to more books by this author.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. This story is one that will be very hard to put down! An emotional roller coaster that will have you feeling all the twists and turns as the pages turn. You feel the tension building quickly as emotions run in all directions after Riley meets James. On top of that she discovers who she really is, and comes to terms with her growing power. Just in time too, for she must join others of her kind in a fight unlike anything you have read, to save herself, those she loves, and stop evil from taking over.

This has been a great series and the author has done a fantastic job with this final book in answering our questions and bringing everything together. An exciting and thrilling finale as the tension builds and we wait to see if Riley can give James a second chance or is it too late? An emotional ending and a fast paced and action filled adventure with a few twists and turns I did not see coming and has had some incredible characters!

This is the final book in the Blood Shadows trilogy, and not a standalone. The romance in this installment focuses on James and Riley, who have had more than their fair share of obstacles put in their way. Separately and together. The characters are so well developed, sympathetic and likable, from all the books. The story was engrossing, well paced and full of twists and turns. It is an intense read, too, full of emotion. It’s really a book to dive into!

Read books one and two first, then give this one a go. I love the way everything was wrapped up in this final story! I think that this ending was perfect for this series, and I Loved it!!! Riley and James had many ups and downs, so you have to read for yourself, to see how it ends. No Spoilers!

I don't know what to say other than thank you author. I had fun watching these couples work out who they were to each other and the world, as they worked through things in their lives. I liked the visuals of the unique powers that they held.

When you find people that love you and fight for you you should never let them go.

Book 3 was a perfect way to end the series. James fighting his way back to himself and all of them working together again to fight for what it's right.

The way forgiveness is portrayed is beautiful and so realistic. You can't really heal until you forgive yourself and I think all the books showed that but none more than this one.

The end brought tears to my eyes and it was perfect.

Great conclusion of this series. Paranormal world with seers and shadows, a healthy dose of britishness, wonderful settings, solutions to all the open questions and a second-chance romance.
