Ideal for those who like a little horror in their smut! So little (but nasty and intense) horror does this book deliver that at the 50% mark I was convinced the supernatural element here is the amount of sex people over the age of 40 can have with various sexual partners, work jobs they have to be physically present at, and raise kids on top of it all. I mean, I guess some of us would be so exhausted we would practically live in the titular bathtub.
It is after the 50% mark that the gore comes into its own, and it gets downright titanic (unfortunately the story only goes until about 75% in the kindle version and the remaining 25% constitute a preview to another book by the same author).
The only character who was likable to me was nine year old Freddy, and he made a smart final boy! Considering he survived the ordeal, I guess, we can prepare ourselves for his future adult self's sexual escapades in the next installment, who knows? I also never rooted for a bathtub nor did I have any kind of feeling whatsoever for a bathtub before. So this book offered me a new perspective.
I’ve read a book before about a possessed bed, but never a haunted bathtub…and what a beautiful old claw footed bathtub it was too.
Grant and Kelly find the perfect bathtub for their new home that they are renovating and waste no time in purchasing it and installing. They move in the next day and the plumber left in charge to install it, has disappeared, and misses their meeting…all is forgotten when they see the beautiful tub taking centre stage in the bathroom. There is an uneasy feel to the house, and in the days which follow, Grant, Kelly and their kids Molly and Freddy, are subjected to a living hell.
This is a sex charged, bloody, gory, cannibalistic extreme horror story, which is highly recommended. Though I would have liked to have had a bit more about how the tub became the bathtub from hell.
Man, you would imagine with the amount of seggs in this book, SOMEBODY would have done it in the tub, right? But nooo, hygiene always cums last…
The family dynamic is less than ideal and add to that the extra stress of moving from one house to a newly renovated one – which is not done yet – and things can get uglier than a wart on a mushroom. This story was interesting and it got really gory toward the end.
Recommended to the extreme and Splatterpunk crowd.
D.W Hitz gives us a brutal, disgusting sexually charged novella.
We follow a family who buy an old vintage bath tub that is perfect for their new renovated home. The tub has a disturbing history and something that lurks within it.
What follows is a body horror, possession and supernatural story that is not for the squeamish. It's down right disgusting in how events are described and the final few chapters ramp this up to another level. This is definitely extreme horror as the warning prefaced. If body horror and descriptions of blood, guts, melting body parts along with graphic descriptions of sex are your thing you need to read it. Its short, never dull and at full pace from start to finish.
I kinda wish we got a bit more of the back story on what possessed the tub and how it did all wrap up was a little quick but this definitely was a great read. The cover art sold me on this and the story has made me a fan of the author and I will check out his other works for sure now.
This is intense, graphic, original and awesome check it out.
Grant and Kelly finally found the perfect claw foot tub for their newly renovated dream home. Now they can finally move in, and Kelly couldn’t be more excited. It doesn’t take long for strange things to start happening. Where did these wet footprints come from? Is that blood in the tub? These things are mild compared to what the Laskin family has in store for them.
The cover caught my eye and the fact that this is another Custer Falls book had me so anxious to dive into this. Hitz has created such a gruesome atmosphere with this book. It’s gory, it’s graphic and its descriptiveness will have you seeing things you can’t unsee. Hitz continues to impress when it comes to extreme horror. He leaves nothing to the imagination as blood soaks the pages and the characters beg for mercy. This one was fast paced, steamy in places, but overall, just a satisfying bloody mess. I’d recommend this to anyone that enjoys extreme horror.
"He felt it; she was Death, and she was reaching for him, and he couldn't move to back away."
This book didn't do anything for me...it was far to weird and stupid,it started off as the run of the mill family...Dad,Mum,teenage daughter and the annoying little brother....they move in to their renovated new house and buy a secondhand tub from a shop🛁🛀🚿 But this tub has history....bad... history!!!🩸🩸🩸🔪🔪🔪 Then it drastically goes down hill faster than Usain Bolt can run ⚡⚡⚡ Confusing gore and violence which I couldn't understand 🤔😕😨 WHAT THE HELL😈👿😈👿 Sorry....a waste of precious reading time...the only good thing about this book was the art work on the cover...but the story between the pages....JUST NO! 2 Boring⭐⭐'s
As a family prepares to move into their recently renovated house, one more item is needed to complete the improvements…an antique claw-footed tub. Grant and Kelly find exactly what they sought after, it’s the tub of their dreams. As the plumber arrives to install the one of a kind tub, something beyond explanation not only inhabits their precious purchase but also has taken residence in the household.
D.W. Hitz has once again graced readers with his extreme bag of sex, violence and gore tricks. This one’s a doozy folks. With a solid vibe of those good ole “Paperbacks from Hell” straight out of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, Stay Out Of The Tub!! coats its twisted pages in red gelatinous horror fiction. I would be remised if I didn’t talk about the unbelievable cover art that only a melting face of flesh would love. Driven by lust, madness and delusions, this basin of blood was an absolute blast to read.
Submerged with intense foul gore and insane carnage, this book has no boundaries. Very much of a bizarre stimulating mindjob, Hitz performs his illusionary pain and pleasure like a street corner horror harlot. It’s the full package my friends, from the outlandish original storyline to the “can’t put down” flow, you will feel the need to wash off its grindhouse low-budget grittiness. I strongly suggest a shower, NOT a bath, or better yet a quick sponge rinse, either way it’s pretty much a baptism of Hot and Cold lapping horror.
If you see the Hot water knob slowly begin to spin, take a page from Amityville and “Get Out”! To avoid fainting keep repeating, it’s only a tub…only a tub…only a tub…only a tub. A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation.
I received an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.
"She shook her head no as she came to stand beside the bathroom. She glanced at the knob, not wanting to even touch it, knowing that even doing that could somehow infect her, and she just couldn't."
Another absolutely disgusting book filled with violence and gore that kept me hooked from the very first page to the very last. I'm very excited to read more from this author. Again, if you have an issue with bodily fluids of any kind, avoid this one. For those who love extreme horror, enjoy. Maybe don't read this one in the bath, though. Or do. Whatever floats your boat.
A quick, fun, gross and violent read that balances character and nastiness really well. I always liked those old standalone tubs, but now... not so much.
Jetted tubs were ruined for me after watching videos of all the disgusting funk that lives in the jets, and now D.W. Hitz has ruined clawfoot tubs for me as well!
Grant and Kelly Laskin have bought a home and have finished the majority of the renovations. Kelly searched everywhere for the perfect tub, and Grant finally found it--an antique clawfoot tub that fit the space perfectly, down to the last 1/8 inch measurement.
Of course the tub is the thing of nightmares, but I wasn't prepared for how exquisitely the demonic presence would be described. If you've ever relaxed in a hot bath with an eye mask on, I guarantee it will be awhile before you can do that again without peeking!
LARVAL SEEDS just moved higher up on my tbr thanks to this fun, outlandish read. Thank you so much to the author for the gifted ARC copy. This book is available now.
Well that was quite interesting. Basically the story is about a claw bathtub the is haunted by this old lady who had died in it. I don’t quite understand how the ending led up to the way it did. I was a bit confused on how things happened. It was pretty interesting though.
It’s always interesting to see standard horror tropes (here: of possession and cursed objects) combine with the themes of extreme horror (here: brutal sex and gory appetites): the result is always explosive, but in D. W. Hitz’s hands, it goes NUCLEAR! A couple of pages in and things are already happening: a tub harboring a demon wakes up and starts claiming whoever’s in the vicinity. A family of four (not entirely a model family!) move into their own house, and they ’ve had the possessed tub installed in their new bathroom. Soon they all have a bloody (bubbly?) good time, with bucket loads of smut and gore: the situations keep getting wilder and wilder, the grisly parts multiplying, and by the book’s midpoint I just couldn't let go, I felt I HAD to see it through to the end. And what an ending! Totally unexpected.
This is the second entry in the ‘Custer Falls’ series, Hitz’s fictional small town. All entries are standalone (a slight reference or two to each other notwithstanding). Hitz’s writing is descriptive and his descriptions are viciously accurate. The cover sets the mood for the book. It would be fair to say, “Stay Out of Custer Falls!”
What a nasty, disgusting, perverted little novella- I loved it! Full of gore and brutality, it would be the perfect little bubble bath read. Super entertaining, I couldn’t put it down!
D.W. Hitz really knows how to push that vomit button, there were so many scenes that made me physically cringe, it was a super effective splatterpunk read!
Also, can we give some love for that cover? Maisie Stokely is incredibly talented.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
At first, you're all, "same old story. Family finds their dream house, and there's something wrong with it. Blah, blah. booore-ing!".
Then, seemingly from nowhere, you get slapped right in the face with guts, blood, bile, and more! All while still having a really good storyline behind it all.
Yeah, this ain't your average "same old plot" book. ;)
Trigger warnings: quite a few, actually. 😈
If you're into extreme, go grab it up quick! It's on the 'zon. :)
"Stay out of the tub!" is what you have to yell at DW Hitz if he ever visits your house. He's from Montana and up there bathtubs are used for gutting, skinning, and draining the blood from wild game. They're certainly not used for bathing; in Montana when people want to smell better, they just roll around in pine needles. When DW came over to my place, he caught an opossum in my backyard with his teeth and then gutted it in my bathtub with a jagged rock. My wife was livid. Stay out of my tub, DW!
Holy penis spikes, Batman!! When I tell you that this book was wild, it was WILD. I winced several times during this read, which I don’t usually do. Mr. Hitz was hitting below the belt…..literally. Now I can’t even look at a bathtub. Grab the book, but always side eye the bathtub. 5 💀💀💀💀💀
Firstly, this book was so much creepy fun, dark, brutal and clever, that its gone straight into my Top 10 reads for this year!! I loved it!! Even though Ill never be able to take a bath again!! 😉🖤
We meet Martha first, a recently widowed woman, coming to terms with being alone after so long, wondering how she will ever continue on with her life now….when she accidentally cuts herself with a razor whilst in the bathtub. This first chapter goes from heartbreaking to horrific before your very eyes. And its not the last we see of Martha…
Later, when Grant finds the perfect tub for his wife Kelly and their newly refurbished house, he is so relieved. The whole family are eager to relax in a warm, soapy bubble bath in their new home, as soon as they can. Kelly and Grant are also hoping to rekindle their passion in the new home, but the passion becomes an insatiable hunger and takes over in the most savage of ways!
This book gets pretty damn steamy, and I'm not just talking about the temperature of the bath water!! 🥵 It is also very creepy!! The atmosphere, the images, the sounds, all had me holding my breath in anticipation, eyes wide open, jaw dropped! It's incredibly haunting, unsettling and horrific, it gave me some serious goosebumps! And Holy Shit does it get brutal, with some great, imaginative kills! It's also completely addictive and engrossing, an easy one sitting read, with a brilliant, brilliant ending.
One of those books that you're excited to read and can't put down, until, that is, you are nearing the conclusion and you don't want it to end!! I actually put it aside for a bit because I wanted to prolong the enjoyment! Another bonus for me, is when a book I read gives me actual nightmares, this one did just that!! It leaves me remembering the book for a long time to come, which is perfect!
Well written with a really good story line. Really good character development. Enough violence and gore to satisfy your craving and making it a fast page turner, complete with a twist at the end.
D.W. Hitz weaves a tale of the paranormal, demonic possession, and evil, and these elements all come together in an amazing, extreme horror tale.
When Kelly, Grant, and their two kids Molly and Freddy move into their dream house, all is wonderful other than the antique tub that Kelly must have to complete the house.
The tubs tragic past unleashes a hell that the family bears the brunt of, and soon blood and gore aplenty fills this tale.
This story is full of sexy and gory fun, and is recommended for fans that enjoy extreme stories full of blood and violence.
Have been looking forward to this book so when I received an arc copy I immediately dove into it. Loads of fun and violence. Grant and Kelly are renovating their dream home, Kelly finds the perfect tub or so she thinks. The tub claims victim to whomever dare steps foot into the bathroom, changing the faith of this family when their dream home turns into a nightmare.
Just as extreme and down right creepy/nasty as Part 1. Different story line though and I will never look at a clawfoot white tub the same ever again. I also loved the cover of this book too and wanted to read it for this reason. 😱😬😲😟🥺
Had amazing potential for a good plot and I did enjoy parts of his however, the ending just confused me and was hoping for more clarity? But maybe it’s to leave things to the imagination.
This was a fun book to read. I definitely made some faces as what's described in certain parts definitely set an image in my mind. The author does a good job of mixing the graphic images, along with the more spicy side.
This is not a book for young kids. The author places the trigger warnings right on the cover. Though to be honest I didn't understand extreme s3x until the end chapters. I have to agree that is so extreme s3x! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I bought it directly from the author so it is personalized and signed! I bought this solely based on a picture he shared with the title of this book. I was hooked and laughed. To say I am pleasantly surprised by how good I actually found this book is an understatement.
I feel more people of extreme horror or maybe even splatterpunk readers gave this short book a chance they would be extremely happy with the results.
This is a fast read at only 91 pages. It is well worth the read in my opinion. The family dynamic is pretty intense in itself. I don't want to place any spoilers because this book isn't super long. I will say it draws you in. And as a reader of both spicy books and horror I liked this mixture.
I will say if you decide to buy you should by from the author, I got a bookmark to match my book as well as stickers! Who doesn't love that!
My only critique is that I would either like a fast forward to what happens or maybe have this be a series! I would love to know what happens to the tub and those who survived its terror! Or even a reason to why the tub is the way it is. I go crazy when the questions I have go unanswered but it doesn't take away from this book.
On this episode of 'Where Not to Stick Your Ding Dong', we're exploring eye sockets, neck flaps, and chest cavities! During the break, we'll discuss what to do when sounding goes wrong!
Stay Out of the Tub!! is a delightfully gory exploration of why you shouldn't have used antique tubs in your home. Reason Number 1: It probably has a demon inside it. Number 2: You'll feel hunger like never before. And Number 3: You'll die.
What a ride! I've never had so much fun reading a horror book. There was so much going on all the time, but the little slices of life with Molly and Fred were just what was needed to cut the tension and provide a break from the action. I liked the playful dynamic that those two had despite the large age gap between them. It made me sympathize with them a lot more than with their parents.
This book went from 0 to 100 real quick. It was like a train wreck in the best way: once it got started, you couldn't look away. I think that zipper analogy will live with me for quite some time!
Y'all need to run for this because it's an experience that you'll never forget! Big thank you to the author for letting me read this early!
