HIDDEN IN THE CANYON by Jodie Bailey is the fabulous, suspenseful story of Angie Garcia, schooled meteorologist and present proprietor of Fairweather Ranch. Having a little bit of financial difficulties ends up being the least of her worries as she’s dealing with first picketers protesting her expansion plans and then being brutally attacked.

At 33, Angie is living the life she feels called to do. She’d gotten her degree in meteorology, but coming home to Fairweather, the family ranch at the edge of Kaibab National Forest, gave her a mission and has brought her peace. Granted she’d recently been crushed at not getting the half million-dollar Celeste Hyacinthe scientific research grant – especially considering partly on who she lost out too, but she’s determined to find the funds to continue with her dream of expanding by adding a second research facility and a bunkhouse to accommodate the experts that came to do research at the canyon. It was three weeks ago, when she got the permits for the new expansion. Shortly thereafter, the protesters took up residence at the entrance gate. If they would only listen to her plans, they would then understand what she has planned would help the park – not change or destroy it. After coming home early from her trip to Vegas, Special Agent Lincoln Tucker is the last man she expected to come to her aid and the last one she wanted to accept help from, but there he was – bigger than life. She had to admit, she was glad he had saved her from a fate she dared not envision. When there are other attempts to abduct her, she’s determined to follow the motto of “Trained in scientific facts. Fear had no place in facts.”

Lincoln had no hesitation about checking on Angie after she worried her brother by not answering he calls or texts and knowing she was driving back from Vegas at night. After all, Jacob was not only a co-worker, but also his best friend. Driving into the ranch, to his horror he saw what appeared to be Angie being attacked. Regardless of their past, he still had many feelings for her and having her harmed wasn’t going to happen on his watch. While the efforts of the attacker were foiled, it had taken a toll on Linc. Suffering from the after effects of a recent fall, he’d been told to not strain or disrupt his back. With the possibility of surgery off the table because of possible paralysis, rest and treatments are all he had going for him in hopes that he can return to the job that is his life – being a National Park Service Investigator.

When Jacob returned home from service very badly injured, it was Angie and Linc that stayed at the hospital doing all they could to kept his spirits up and prayed that he would have future. Emotions ran high and in a weak moment, to Angie’s embarrassment she turned to Linc for more than friendship. It was his deep regard for Angie that Linc turned away. Afterwards, instead of being at the hospital together, Linc took the night shift leaving the days for Angie. At first, it crushed Angie, maybe even angered her, but most of all she missed the friendship they had. Although Linc may describe Angie as stubborn, defiant, and bossy, he still has strong feelings for her and hated the way things ended before.

When more vandalism occurs can they figure out who is doing it and why? With more attempts on Angie, will Linc be able to keep her safe? And if so at what price? Will each confrontation dangers his chances of recovery and his livelihood? Is there a connection between the protestors and the attacks? Can Angie talk to the protesters and get them to realize what she’s planning to do won’t do any harm to the canyon? Can a former high school classmate, that was one of the protestors, be connected with what’s going on? When they can’t find her, will she be one of the girls in the area to disappear? Is the disappearance of women in the area connected to what’s going on or are they two separate things? Can Linc and the local authorities keep Angie safe or will a criminal with a watchful eye find his chance? Can Angie and Linc make peace with the past? Will further injury derail Linc permanently?

HIDDEN IN THE CANYON by Jodie Bailey is filled with suspense and danger from the very beginning and will keep you turning pages until the guilty and answers to questions are found. Jodie Bailey gives us a fabulous story of family, love for and protection of our national treasures, sacrifices, danger, commitment, courage and second chances woven with a wonderful thread of faith. It’s positively a FIVE STAR story that should be on everyone’s to be read list. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!

I loved Hidden in the Canyon! It has well-written, realistic characters and page-turning suspense. I couldn't put it down! The setting contributed to the very real danger that Angie was in. Angie's property was in her family for generations and the vastness of it meant that characters with ill-intent could get in if they really wanted to. And they really want to! This second chance romance will make you swoon! I loved Lincoln though he's such a guy when it comes to not admitting when he was in pain or needed to slow down. I enjoyed watching the romance develop in this edge-of-your-seat love inspired suspense. I highly recommend it for those of you who love suspense with your romance books!

Very good story

I really enjoy the romantic suspense books. This one was well done with an unusual storyline. I was glad to see them work through their individual personal problems, but some of it was exhausting to see them wade through carrying so much within themselves.

Linc and Angie were a great lead couple to root for and I loved how twisty the mystery was. The culprit wasn’t easy to pinpoint, even for me. I also liked the unique careers—meteorologist and national park service investigator. I haven’t seen many of those in fiction.
