This book wasn’t horrible but it could have been better. There were still some endings that didn’t actually wrap anything up and left you wondering what happened next which I don’t like. If you’re promoting that a book had multiple possible endings then there actually need to be endings to the story that’s wraps everything up. I also wish there was more detail in the story. This book had the potential to actually be a really good story if it was only one story instead of a you choose story or it could have even been a good you choose story if the stories and endings had been more developed. Either way this was better than some of the other books in the series I have read and I hope the rest of the series continues getting better.
This series has been largely unremarkable, and Laurie S. Sutton was not the best author for the task, even though she is obviously well-informed about the Scooby-Doo franchise. Bigfoot Beast has a really intriguing premise with a lot of good action and twists, but some of the endings were abrupt and incomplete. I also don't know why there were so many instances of Bigfoot unmasking himself. The setting changes from a wooded forest to a snowy mountain at one point, but at least it doesn't go farther than that (which happens in other volumes).
In keeping with this author's style, there is a big overuse of common SD phrases like "We're doomed!" and "You meddling kids!" I don't find her writing particularly descriptive or engaging, either. The big and colorful artwork is always great, though.
Miss 6 loves these Scooby Doo books. They have a good variety of paths and plots; she likes that there are genuinely multiple different endings and plot twists.
Miss 6 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
3 starting story paths give readers the opportunity to follow Fred, Daphne & Velma, or Scooby & Shaggy on a Bigfoot adventure. The stories are just a few choices and quick reads enabling youth to easily go back for the other story options solving a different mystery each time.
I love these choose your adventure books. Scooby has always been a childhood love of mine. It is great having him again in these series. I hope kids get a kick out of these books.
A great intro to choose your own ending type books! I love that they are doing this with well known characters. This is the first chapter book I've read with my 3.5 year old daughter who loves Scooby and she's been completely into it! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
As a kid, I really enjoyed Choose Your Own Adventure books. And now, my kids can enjoy them as well with their favorite characters. I even liked reading through all the different scenarios. :)
