Book # 23 in the Annie's Attic Mysteries has been read. I loved the story of the needle-felted cats showing up with notes in lots of locations. I had never heard of this type of craft before.
Again, Annie is able to be helpful to one especially shy person. You will enjoy the mystery and story behind it.
A SWEET STORY ABOUT NICE PEOPLE. It is spring in Stony Point, Maine. Annie goes about her days, doing yard work, growing flowers, cooking, cleaning, going to the Hook and Needle Club every week. Her daughter calls her about how days are going with her family. She and her husband are complete opposites. Annie is making Easter gifts for the twins, the church is having a sale of handmade crafts, the money to donate to the food bank. Maine is in cold country, the spring has cold days, warm days, heavy rain in which Annie is walking Tartan, Ian's energetic little dog while Ian is in New York State visiting his former mother-in-law in hospice. He returns to find Annie and Tartan getting drenched. He becomes closer to Annie after seeing his mother-in-law's death. Annie and Alice are hanging out enjoying life.
Then something or somebody comes to Stony Point. Someone is gifting beautiful little needle felted cat sculptures. This is not a well known kind of craft work, beautiful, but difficult. The ladies of the Hook and Needle Club don't know who could do this type of work. Annie is is determined to find out and goes about sleuthing. She meets a man, Adam, an Englishman who is looking for his long, lost love, Candice Caine who writes and illustrates lovely, popular children's books. He feels she is living in this town and and needs to find her, to apologize for the the wrong he has done this lady. Annie goes looking for who made these beautiful kittens, possibly the lady doesn't want to be found. She receives a call from a breathy voice, can't tell man or woman, the voice tells her to leave the search for Candice Caine alone. Threatening.
I had a really hard time getting into this story. Maybe that is because I'm not much of a cat person but it also seemed to move very slowly until at least half way. I eventually got into the story and interested enough to see it through. The mystery of who was easy and obvious early on but the mystery of why was what kept me going. In the end I was glad I stuck with it. I actually ended up looking into needle felting and might end up giving that a try.
Another delightful Annie's Attic mystery. This one starts outside of the attic but the attic provides some interesting clues. The whole community seems to be touched by the appearance of the carefully felted cats and their gift cards. Each one is made specifically for the recipient. Add in a shy lady, a handsome English man, a missing author and you have the perfect mix for a mystery.
As a fiber artist I lived the fiber references in this story. As a Christian, I loved that the story was wholesome and didn't have sex scenes, bloody scenes or explicit language. The only thing that bothered me was the use of so many names that began with the letter A!
As always a nice little mystery for Annie and her Hook and Needle Club to try and solve. Along with the mystery of a long lost love-- do Annie and Ian come closer to being more than good friends? This one has a cute piece of the puzzle in little felted cats that someone is gifting to people and businesses around Stone Point. Who is this mystery woman? Great fun with Annie and her friends!
Sounds like this series may have some books with more dramatic mysteries. This was not one of them. The characters didn't get too excited either the several times they could have solved the mystery before the end.
Mysterious needle-felted cats and messages turn up all over the town of Stony Point, Maine. Annie and her friends search for who is leaving them. Annie also dog sits, Ian dog.
