Kill the beast. Save your brother. Win your freedom. No problem. Falling in love with the cop trying to arrest you? Problem.
To save his twin from death, Reign Nicolis will have to bargain with Goddess of the Dead, and once more become what he despises, El Mortem, The Scourge, a killer trained to show mercy to none. But he is haunted by those who have fallen beneath his blade. Their ghostly shapes dog his footsteps, relentless in their torture to make him suffer for what he was put on this earth to do two thousand years ago. Saving his twin ensures Reign’s enslavement to the Goddess. She may own his body, but never his heart.
Detective Alexis Lever’s career is in shambles. Her only chance at redemption is to discover what happened to the body of Daniel Nicolis. To do that she’ll have to thwart two men: Reign Nicolis and Roman Nicolis. Both belong in jail. But one has stolen her heart.
Passion changes everything, especially for the characters Tmonique writes about in her Descendants of Ra, UnHallowed, and Plain Jane series. Flawed characters who reflect the emotional baggage we all carry interests her the most. She writes complicated stories for complicated people. Her favorite paranormal authors are JR Ward, Gena Showalter, and Kresley Cole. Her favorite contemporary authors are Natasha Knight, Theodora Taylor, and Nancy Haviland. She also enjoys Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Preston & Child. Check out her Descendants of Ra series. Eternity, Everlasting, Evermore, Encore, and Forever, are the first five novels available now. The first four novels in her UnHallowed series—Only The Fallen, Only One I Want, Only You, and Only One I’ll Have are available now.
To save his twin, he bargains with a goddess but while she may enslave him, she can never own his heart in this fascinating paranormal romance.
There is never a dull moment in this fast paced and smooth flowing story filled with action, suspense and romance. Reign captures the heart from the very beginning (if you read the first book then he probably caught some of it then) and when he meets Alexis, sparks fly in every direction as they fight their attraction and seem to be on opposite sides. The reader can’t help but get caught up in all the passion that vibrates from every page with these two whether it is from anger or desire.
Spine tingling tension builds throughout the story as the well written scenes and details ensure that the reader gets completely ensnared by all the excitement as Reign and Alexis go up against a lot of enemies. The police force –especially the ones that Alexis works for- Roman’s brothers, Daniel and his evil abominations and most importantly the gods themselves. The abundance of strong compelling characters just adds to the enticement of the story and of course many are strong sexy alpha males and the heroines are no slouches either.
The fascinating world continues to stimulate the senses and ensures that the reader keeps coming back for more as the complicated mythological aspects adds lots of spice to the story. The Egyptian pantheon of Gods and Goddesses are a confusing and downright hostile bunch, I must say they act more like spoiled children wanting their way all the time which adds lots of excitement to the story as well. The author adds surprising twists and turns to the story to keep the reader guessing and I for one couldn’t put the story down once I began reading it and I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is the second in the Descendants of Ra series. I really enjoyed the first, Eternity. So, I was very excited for Everlasting to release.
The first thing I must say is Ms. Stephens has a talent for crafting a sentence. Her word choices are fabulous. I highlighted numerous lines in Everlasting. She's a real talent and for that alone, her books are worth reading, but that's not all she brings.
She brought back my favorite characters from Eternity, love that, and we get to know them even better. The tortured hero, Reign, is scary, brutal, and I'm totally enamored. Here's one of his lines to his fabulous heroine, Alexis: "... The only peace I find is when I'm within one hundred feet of the one who balances my soul. You are that person." <-- yes, he's swoon worthy.
Like the first in the series, Everlasting is weaved with Egyptian mythology. It's another layer in this story and adds all kinds on interesting tidbits. The bad guys are frightening and the good guys are fantabulous. This is a story that will keep you turning the pages. I will be reading the next in this series.
I recommend Everlasting to all paranormal romance readers.
Tmonique Stephens is definitely an author to watch. I'm definitely looking forward to her next book.
note from S. J. : Everlasting was provided to me for an honest and fair review
First, I would like to thank the author Tmonique Stephens for giving me this book for an honest review. As with the first book, I loved it, I think this story was even better. The men of Ra are tortured souls. I love the mythology that is mixed into the story. The character development is again very well done. Alexia is strong with her own messed up background who has trust issues (I can totally relate with the trust issues), Reign is another tortured soul who finds his soul mate, who has been a pawn for centuries. Again, awesome read, look forward to more from Tmonique, gotta love the men of Ra.
Everlasting entwines Egyptian mythology with modern times. Tmonique definitely created an enticing story of everlasting love and the trials of attaining this true happiness. The story follows the main characters Reign Nicolis and Alexis Lever. Reign is enslaved by the Goddess of the Dead and wishes to break free from her control in order to be with Alexis. This sweet love story was wonderful to read and I cannot wait to read more from this amazing author! I would also like to thank Tmonique for the free copy of this book.
This is the second book in Descendants of Ra about Reign, The twin brother of Roman, from the first book and it was just as exciting and kept me on edge even more than the first. I loved both Reign and Alexis and thought they were a perfect match. The villains were even a bigger challenge and had me wondering how they would be defeated. This series has definitely won me over and I plan on purchasing the next installment to feed my new addiction.
I am so glad I was able to read this entire series! Her writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole of each story. I found myself in love with not only the characters, but also the world she creates. You truly feel as though you are living among the characters. Great character development, steamy sex scenes and enough of the everyday grind to really be able to sink into each and every book.

I like the unique use of the Egyptian Pantheon. Most of the characters return from the first book while new characters are introduced. Reign is still a mystery to me, though I understand him a little better now. Alexis seems to be just what he needs, but he is still fighting it, all to protect her. I liked Alexis, mostly. I wanted her to come to the place where pleasing people didn't matter anymore. There is still time for her to grow in that area in the next book.
There were several places that lost me. I had to read it more than once to understand what was going on. There were errors that took away from the story and made it harder to understand, though it was better than the first book. I'm still trying to wrap my head around what happened in Chemmis at the end. That was INTENSE! This is one of those series that throws you for a loop just when you think you know what's going on. I enjoyed the read, but found that some parts were too wordy for my tastes. I skimmed those parts and didn't feel as though I missed anything of importance. I still have questions about many things that are happening, so I'm off to begin the next book. If you are interested in mythology, this book is for you.

This is my 1st read and review for this author and it’s such a fantastic start in getting to know her stories. This is the story of Reign and Alexis, Alexis is a detective she goes to a bar to relax and maybe pick up a guy for the night but then chaos ensues. Alexis arrests the guy and he’s as big as a tank and she is attracted to him but he’s a criminal. Reign has made a deal with a goddess to protect his brother Roman so he is sent to this world to kill one of her sons who is a monster. There is an attraction between them both and they try to fight it but they can’t and it explodes into a fiery passion, they both fight some very challenging enemies who are bad bad so bad. I really enjoyed reading this story there’s action, danger, suspense, mythology, romance and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. A fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Enslaved by a goddess and forced to do her bidding to insure his brother's well being, Reign is sent back to the human world when an evil entity is hunting his brother. But instead of tracking the monster, he gets sidetracked and enamored by police detective Alexis Lever whom he has an unwavering obsession to protect. Making Alexis his priority only leads to chaos amid the hunt for the killer entity and the burning enmity and hate his brother Roman has for him. It is best, if you haven't already, to have read the previous book. Just to have the complete rundown of what has happened and why. And also because it's an amazing book like this one!

This is book two in the Descendants of Ra series and it is just as good as the first book. I am so loving the style of writing of this auther. This is a very fast paced book and it flows really well. Just like the first there is action, suspense and it’s a thrilling read. The passion between these two is so good and the sparks fly no matter how hard they try to fight them. Can’t wait for the the nest book.

At first I was a bit lost because I jumped right into book two without reading book one. Once the story got going I was okay, but I do plan on reading the first book. This book is full of action, suspense, well developed characters and a passionate romance. Loved Alexis and Reign together. I am looking forward to reading the first book and the rest of the series. I have not read a bad book from this author yet and this book is no exception! The great plot and character development kept me so engaged throughout the entire book that I had a very hard time putting this book down until the very last page was turned!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Fun read, thrilling and gripping. The characters came alive and the storyline wow. He made a deal with a goddess and what possibly could go wrong. You’ll have to find out. I recieved a copy via Booksprout and this is my honest review
This is the second installment in the "Descendants of Ra"! It's different but very enjoyable story and series. I like this author's unique perspective and writing style. I really enjoy the characters and the plot.
Extremely entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong and intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.

I like this story It is well written and quite and engaging read. It keeps me turning pages and sparks the imagination till the finale and challenges thrown in makes a great read.
When I read the first book in this series, Eternity, I compared it to riding a roller coaster blindfolded because of its intensity, and Everlasting is just the same. Immediately I was immersed back into this creative, imaginative realm of vengeful ancient Egyptian gods wreaking havoc in the human world. I actually went back and reviewed Eternity because there are so many characters and story threads that have been introduced, I wanted to make sure I remembered the crux of the overall plot. However, I found that I really didn’t need to do this because Stephens takes readers back to the relevant scenes that set up the storyline for this next installment that focuses on Reign Nicolis, the twin brother of Roman whose story was featured in Eternity.
Based on the events in Eternity, I knew this book was going to be about Reign and Detective Alexis Lever who has become involved in the case to find a serial killer connected to the Nicolis family. This book opens with the two relevant scenes from book one that bring Reign and Alexis together and are described in much greater detail. Reign has been enslaved by Nephythys, goddess of the Egyptian underworld of the dead. Unhappy in her marriage to SET, the evil and malicious god of Duat, she has kept Reign imprisoned as her lover and companion for centuries, until circumstances force her to temporarily release Reign back on Earth to help save his brother, Roman, from the beast, Alamut, who has been stalking Roman and Stella. In order to be released, Reign must vow that once he has killed Alamut, he will return to Nephythys and love her as he once did.
However, once Reign returns to help his brother and gets a taste of freedom, he is determined to never return to the goddess he now loathes. Ironically, after Reign intervenes to save Alexis from the beast, a connection is formed between them that tethers him to her so that he can never be more than 100 feet away. Neither he nor Alexis is happy with this situation, and throughout much of the story, they fight the mutual attraction and emotional connection that strengthens, leading to an intimacy that neither could ever have imagined possible. Their love story is beautifully written and the intense passion and love for each other bleeds through pages, and it is both touching and heartbreaking because of the sacrifices they are willing to make for the other. So, you can expect steamy love scenes in the second half of the book.
What I like most about the series is that it is packed full of action and narrated from multiple characters’ POVs, and Stephens ties all of the multiple conflicts together and weaves them into a complex plot full of startling revelations as secrets are exposed despite the veil of deception each character must face head on and tear apart. I was so excited about Roman and Reign finally reuniting again, but their first encounter is nothing like I expected, and instead of becoming a family once again, Reign’s personal demons and limited choices keep driving them apart.
There is so much drama and conflict, this book just consumed my attention, yet at the same time, I had to force myself to take breaks just to process what was happening and the ramifications of each character’s decisions. The conclusion doesn’t have the traditional HEA for Reign and Alexis; they will face greater danger in the days to come. After all they have gone through, I have no doubts they will stand together stronger than ever. These two characters experience life-altering events that enable them to move beyond the emotional pain of their pasts and watching these characters grow was both a nail-biting but inspiring experience. My only complaint is that the book needs one more proofreading. Despite the errors, though, this series is fantastic!

This is the second book in this series and if you love Egyptian mythology but want it brought bang up to date then these books are for you. Add a tortured hero at the not too tender mercies of a goddess and a rising army and of course more than a smattering of romance and this book is a delight to read. It's a rare thing to find such a unique concept but it works very well here in the complicated and brutal world of the Gods. These Egyptian Gods are many things but benevolent is certainly not a word that could ever describe them! We first learned of Reign in the previous book Eternity as he is the twin brother of that story's hero Roman. Although Roman had been cursed poor Reign had been held prisoner by the goddess of Death and has continuously suffered vile torments. Now finally he is given a chance at redemption and sent back to the mortal world but his mission puts more than his life on the line as his very heart and soul are most at risk as Reign meets a woman and finds himself quite literally tethered to her! Alexis is a police officer and she has been thrown into a world that is unbelievable. Suddenly she's seeing monsters and if she says anything her very sanity would be in question. Then of course there's the mysterious disappearing man that seems to want to save her but is it a trick? Alexis has very little reason to trust anyone but it's clear the world is not exactly what she thought it was and there are things straight out of nightmares walking around. Just what exactly is going on ? Then there's the little thing of a missing corpse that seems to be tied up in all the craziness but the biggest conundrum is Reign. He clearly knows more than he's admitting so is not to be trusted but he is the most obstinate and fascinating man Alexis has ever met . Reigns life is about to get even more complicated and he's pulling Alexis headlong into danger but all he wants is to save her! There's a lot happening in this book and it's a very detailed account of the Egyptian pantheon that the author delves into. As a reader it's a fascinating way of looking at how Gods and Goddesses could possibly interact and it's not exactly a walk in the park . Evil, manipulative and totally selfish theirs is not a world that has much compassion and yet thrown amidst all this chaos and debauchery is a hero who deserves a happy ending. This is a passionate story but at times it's a harrowing read and so difficult to put down. So many different players feature here with varying agendas and there's never a dull moment. This author has penned a fascinating book that held my attention and if you are looking for something completely different to challenge you then this book/series should fit the bill nicely.
Twin brother of Roman, Reign has been missing for 2,000 years. Now that we've found out where he was we also see just what he went through and what he is willing to do to protect his brother.
Alexis, the hardass cop from book 1 we see there's more to her than we realized. She has tried to make her father proud all her life, but never seemed to measure up. Trying to solve a case that is shrouded in mystery and revloves around things she didn't know existed just might be the end of her life as she knew it.
Regin is just trying to survive and help those he cares for, but he's also trying to help himself out of the hell he has been in for so long. Sometimes his secrets are for good reason and sometimes keeping them backfires on him.
Alexis is a strong female lead, just trying to figure out what is really going on. She doesn't take the easy way out of things, and leave the heavy lifting to others, she folloes her gut and trys to do the right thing.
In this one we see more of the Egyptian characters and begin to better understand their part in the story. We see the storyline from book 1 continue while also allowing you to learn more about other characters. I enjoy the mix of myth and fiction blended in this series and am eager to see what happens next!
What I loved about the first book was the love between Roman and Stella. Through their many lives they always had a connection and some kind of attraction to each other. Although living in a strange world and circumstances their love always felt real. This made me curious for more.
Roman and Stella have a small role in the sequel, but it is mainly about Roman's brother Reign and Alexis. For many years Reign was a prisoner of The Egyptian Goddess of the Dead, Nephythys, but when he is sent to the real world on a mission he meets police officer Alexis and is immediately drawn to her. Until half way the book it was a page turner, I was totally into it, but when I found out what Reign is and Alexis is it was not so interesting any more, because in my opinion they were drawn to each other for all the wrong reasons.
Although their world is absolutely a complicated one, the simple temporary solution is found in a bracelet and after all the fights and torture nothing has changed at all. Hmmmmmmmmmm........ I still don't know what to think about that. Only that there will be another book ...... or two, because there are too many lose ends.
This is Book 2 of the Descendants of Ra series. This book follows Reign, brother to Roman, and Alexis the detective from Stella's case. There is lots of intricately weaved plot pulling these characters in with the Egyptians. There is unfortunately not near the pull to this couple as there was for Roman and Stella so I wasn't as invested in them as I felt I should be. There will definitely have to be one if not two more books because there is lots left unresolved and new issues brought to light this book. Stella and Roman are in this book, although not as much as I wished and we see more of the 'brothers' as well. If you have not read Book 1, Eternity please read it first, otherwise you'll be lost. It's def a great read, even if it's another rather involved story line that hooks you in to the point of neglecting duties. Lol. This was a complimentary e-copy provided by Netgalley and the author/publisher in exchange for a honest review.
I couldn't stop reading... literally. I had to put my life on hold to see what happened next. This is one of the best books I have read in years. How the author blends suspense and romance with Egyptian gods and make a modern thriller that is fast paced and laced with twists, is pure magic. Read it. You will be hooked. This is best seller quality.
If you haven't read the first in the series, you really don't need to. Ms Stephens worked magic on that one too, but this is my favorite to date. I read a lot. I read every genre ( except porn). I have read every best seller for years. This really should be on NYT best sellers list, it is that good.
EVERLASTING by Tmonique Stephens... twisted thriller with real romance.
