Being the head of one of the largest mafia families has its pros and cons, one of those cons being not having the time to include a girlfriend into one's busy schedule. For mob boss Romeo Marino, this couldn’t be more true, but as the saying goes, 'people make time for who they really want,' and the moment Romeo laid eyes on Remedy Ellis, he knew he had to have her and by any means.
Remedy is gorgeous, educated, and has all the qualities of the perfect wife. Although Remedy may find herself just as attractive to Romeo as he is to her, unlike many other females that may seek his attention, Remedy neither wants nor needs it. After her last relationship, love is the furthest thing on her mind, and these days all she is focused on is getting to the bag.
Despite her self-proclaimed independence, Romeo still finds himself working hard to capture and keep her attention, especially after he has set his mind to have her as his.
They say the third time is a charm; lucky for Romeo, all it took was a second encounter with Remedy for her to give in to his pressure, but after a while, Remedy starts to feel like their relationship may be a little too good to be true, and she may be right, too.
This story will touch on real-life obstacles and will be filled with deception, secrets, and ultimate betrayals. When secrets are revealed, hearts will be shattered, and lives will be twisted.
This was my first book by Alecia J., and I really enjoyed it. I love the characters and the storyline. Plus, the title of the book, Romeo's Remedy, sums the book up perfectly. I love titles like this; I think they are so clever and cute.
Firstly, Romeo. This man got on my nerves the first time we met him. He is the don of the mafia and is so rude sometimes. There would be times I was like, sir, you could've said that in a nicer way. But I grew to love him, especially with how he interacted with Remedy, his son, and how he conducted his business. He was very much an alpha male who was very determined to be with Remedy from the moment he laid eyes on her. When I tell you this man was determined to get her, he was. When Remedy didn't immediately warm up to the idea of them having a future together, he still put in the work of building a foundation for a relationship with her. Romeo was persistent!
Remedy is a boss woman working her way to become a pharmacist. At first, when she met Romeo and they started talking, she was very unsure of whether to let him into her life completely because of past trauma. But she eventually did. She is a strong woman who takes care of the people around her, either through words or deeds. I loved her relationship with her aunt and her friend and co-worker, Italy.
Alecia's writing was great. There were many parts of this book where I was yelling "PREACH" because she was speaking so much truth. She wrote the characters so well, and I enjoyed the development of the romance between Romeo and Remedy. I appreciated Alecia writing their romance based on honesty and vulnerability, establishing what they wanted out of a relationship, and communicating their needs and boundaries from the beginning.
I also enjoyed the other characters like Italy and Idris and his unserious self (lol). They really added to the book.
Now, the way the book ended...My goodness, I was shook! I didn't even clock that until that detail was brought to light at the end. Then everything came back to me, and it all made sense.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
The only likable character was Remedy. Romeo was a little psychotic and arrogant and not in a good was. He seemed like a spoiled child demanding to get his way. Real bosses don’t have to say there’re the boss it’s just understood and things get done. The sub female characters just dumb. Italy was totally weak like bruh why making excuses for Kevin I couldn’t stand it and Fatima act like she wants Remedy for herself and the aunt trying to force a relationship with her mom after what she did and all this time nah. I liked Ivy though. And Jalisa you know the dude is mafia and his reputation but still she did what she did after being warned see just dumb. The main thing that bothered me was the author interrupting the story to throw in an explanation on what a made man is and the ending… put that in the beginning in authors notes or something not the middle of the chapter or ending overall the story was ok just not very many likable characters I will read book 2 whenever it comes out to see if it gets better but if you’re a reader that likes stupid women and immature male characters this is definitely the book for you.
Amazing Remedy had a wall of ice around her heart but once Romeo seen her he knew he had to have her so he took his time and wore her down eventually having them both falling in love so happy she found a.man to love her the right way, but why was her mother back after all this time and who is her father? Now I pray Italy gets enough courage and finally end things with deadbeat Kevin I think he's up to no good as well, maybe she is the right one to make Idris slow down and become a one woman man thus giving her son a positive male role model in his life. Now as for Fatima I think Romeo remembers her and she knows who he is and they are keeping something from Remedy but like Idris said he better tell her before it's too late. Can't wait to see what happens with these characters next loving this story
I just love these two. Romeo is definitely a BOSS, and Remedy is definitely that Chick. I'm so glad that Italy and Idris connected again now she can kick the no good ninja Kevin to the crub!! And Remy mom is definitely up to no good. Jalisa just had to open her mouth with her jealous ass she got what she deserved she should've taken heed to what Romeo told her. I'm glad Remy put her "bestie" in her place, im still side eyeing her...Can't wait for Pt.2 it's about to be some Sugar Honey Ice Tea!!!!! Overall, it's definitely a good read. My girl Alecia neva disappoints
2.5 - this was a rough read. It may have been one of the first books by this author. The plot was great but it was not well written. If I read "Tee" one more time!!! Geez. He was a mafia boss but didn't come off as one and did no mafia things. I liked Remedy. Her character was supposed to be educated but she spoke so elementary. Again, not well written.
I kept reading because I know the author grew into a great writer as I read the Miami series. Night and day! If I hadn't read that series I would have stopped reading. But congrats on the growth! I support and love it!
The way I had to clutch my pearls through this book, laughed and then screamed!!!… Chileeee, I was not expecting the ending!!!… Italy needs to put that 2nd child out her daycare and send him back home to his momma!!!…How you sitting around angry in a house you not contributing to!!!… I love me some Aunty A too!!!…She has such a sweet personality!!!… Remedy is in for a few treats ans will be shocked by a few secrets!!!…I hope Romeo opens his mouth a be honest, with his 2 condom wearing ash!!!…
Romeo is ridiculous. I hate how he violated her when she was dancing for him in VIP. I couldn't read any further. He was a turn off when he put a gun to his brother's best friend head when he complimented Remedy while she was dancing. The last straw was paying Remedy and her aunt 50K each to have Remedy dance for him🙄 this just too over top nonsense. I prefer the silent strong type not the bully who's weak and have to show off his weaknesses.
I was already asking myself stuff after Romeo and Remedy’s first sexual encounter but thought I was being too extra but everything always comes to light. This is a touchy subject and can kill their relationship right where it stands, especially since it’s not being exposed until later in the relationship. I also can’t wait to see more of Italy’s love story to blossom. Hopefully she’s sick of her bf BS and will go with a real one
Romeo never thought he would find love in the strip club. However he did with Mystic and she’s everything to him but he has a baby mom of his precious 5 year old son and she’s someone to be reckoned with. Now Mystic has a trauma passed of abandonment from her mom and with only her aunt by her side she’s bettering herself by becoming a pharmacist. Now Me Romeo has a secret to tell and it’s not easy but he must tell her his partner everything
Alright Romeo got a lot of crazy in him but it’s worth every bit of dealing with him. Remedy went through a-lot with her ex, I see why she was so guarded! Italy need to get rid of Kevin and Idris got to decide if he gone miss out on a good one trying to deal with multiples! Who burned Romeo is the question??
This book was really good so many life lessons. You never disappoint. Romeo is bat ish crazy and possessive but he knows what and who he wants. I love all of the developing relationships. But that ending baby had me like omg what is he gonna say what is the secret. The angle my mind has me on edge on to book 2 I go. Great job Alecia!!
It’s something about unhinged men that I really like, and Romeo is definitely that 😂 he really was not playing with Remedy.
But I’m curious to see what will play out between him and Remedy since this plot twist was revealed. I hope the author wrote about his condition with care and insight, since the stigma is so huge. Off to Part 2.
Alecia, gurl!? This book was so good! I couldn’t put it down if I tried. The PLOT TWIST!!!! No spoilers but I caught ALL the hints… I just didn’t expect THAT to be the outcome. Omg. On to the next book I go but babyyyyyyyy if my favorite couple doesn’t weather the storm, I might pass out lol!
So... it wasn't that the book was bad. It did actually have a good plot. I enjoyed the characters. But why do you have quotes underlined in her physical copies. Why are you saying the Marino Mafia speak Italian. When they are actually speaking Somali??!!! Whhattt... google is your friend when it comes to different languages.
I mad I had to find out on the last page what was going on. Other than that I like Romeo, he’s crazy but love him so Remedy. Fatima has a real damn problem, I think she needs to direct her anger somewhere other than towards Remedy. The fact that she wants remedy to herself is disturbing.
I took my time and still hate it ended 😩 I can’t wait for part 2! I feel like a crack head. You got me hooked and now I need more ‼️ Lemme go scratch in the corner til I get my fix 🤣 You just keep getting better and better ❤️
Outstanding!! This book grabbed my attention from the first page until the last. I can’t wait to see what happens when Remedy finds out what’s going on with Romeo.
Good story and that ending had me like what. Romeo got some explaining to do but I know it may not be what it is. I glad to see Remedy allowing someone to get close to her. I can't wait until Italy leaves that sorry man she got.
I really enjoyed Romeo and Remedy together! Hopefully, his health doesn't compromise their relationship. Idris is a whole mess, but I think Italy can tame him. The family dynamics are odd in itself, but in a good way. Can't wait for part 2
Great job. Romeo is totally obsessed with Remedy, and he had definitely grown on her. Their relationship is beautiful, even though he has something he hasn't told her. I hope this doesn't cause anything drastic to happen.
What the what, say it ain't so? Why do I get this feeling that Fatima is more connected to Romeo than what meets the eye? She to invested with him every time Remy brings him up. I bet she doesn't have sickle cell either.
I think her friend Fatima gave him what he has. That's why her dude got killed and she got beat up. That is why she wanted to know did she protect herself. Yep, she is going to be so heart broken.
What is going on, Romeo? Did him and the best friend hook up at some point or what? I don't know, but I can't wait to see what's next. Remedy better be ready.
