Young King Armander inherits the throne determined to restore his kingdom to its former glory. The years of abuse suffered under the old king’s reign have taken their toll on his people—even more so on Armander. The torments visited on him by his demon-worshipping father have disfigured his soul and left Armander with an enduring anger that no longer has a target. His barely contained rage, unleashed at the slightest provocation, has earned him a name whispered behind his back: The Beast.

When Armander learns a neighboring king has plotted his assassination, he demands the king’s daughter as reparation. Immediately captivated by the beautiful princess, Armander discovers it is he, in fact, who has become hostage to her charms. As his love for her grows increasingly apparent to those around him, Armander fails to realize Princess E’laiahna has powerful enemies within the palace, men who will stop at nothing to keep her from becoming Queen. Yet only one man can drive her away forever—the one people call The Beast.

Sondra Allan Carr lives in the Bluegrass state of Kentucky with her husband of more than four decades. Sondra loves to travel and has been to Europe, China, Australia, and India. She recently spent time in the rainforest of Belize, an experience reflected in the setting for her second book in The World of Pangaea saga, The Savage.

A confessed word nerd, Sondra has “read all of Shakespeare” at the top of her bucket list. She believes truth is stranger than fiction and fiction is often truer than real life—or at least most of the time it makes more sense. When she isn’t reading or succumbing to the allure of the internet, she spends her time writing and trying to make sense of the world.

Sondra’s fiction is a blend of fantasy and romance that has been described as dark, emotional, and “not your usual romance.” Her first novel, A Bed of Thorns and Roses, is a Beauty and the Beast-themed historical romance set during America’s Gilded Age. Readers have called it “a page-turner,” “very moving,” and “one of the best romantic stories I have ever read.”

She is currently writing a fantasy series, The World of Pangaea, a projected five-volume family saga set in an alternate pre-history. The family patriarch and hero of the first book, The Beast, is a tortured character who may or may not redeem himself by the end of Book One. But he has four more books, and a few decades’ time, in which to prove himself while the stories of his three daughters and his brother unfold. Each book in the series has a short story prequel, published separately, featuring a minor but pivotal character from its companion novel.

Wow... Is this really from the author of A Bed of Thorns and Roses?

Thorns & Roses was such a fantastic book and The Beast such a crappy one that I have a hard time believing they were written by the same person.

Where's the beautiful prose? A plot that makes sense? Great Characters?

This was such a mess. Never again.

NO SPOILERS--I have to say, I'm a tough critic. Not only do I take story, plot, and character development very seriously, but I am quick to judge editing mistakes. Thankfully this story was relatively free of them, and made for an unencumbered read.

That being said, this story was wonderful. Not wonderful in your typical chaos then happily ever after way, but in a dark and twisted love story, with a multitude of surprises, way. If you like a good emotional roller-coaster, then this is a good book to buy. Enjoy.

I found this to be a very interesting story that was well written and very well edited. I am a stickler on grammatical/spelling errors and found few to none.

This was a very dark and twisted love story between the Hero & Heroine, as well as some of the other characters in the book.

My only criticism would be, was that I felt the emotion lacking between the two main characters, more so than in other love stories I have enjoyed reading. Hopefully, this will be improved upon in the next book in "The World of Pangaea" by Ms. Allan Carr, and I look forward to its release.

I was completely sucked into the world of this fantasy/romance series. The setting and the descriptions are very well done, but it was the characters that hooked me. I love reading about deeply flawed, dark characters and Carr's King Armander certainly is that. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

A rough start but a solid story

The beginning of the story was a little rough for me but once I got a costumed to all the characters the story started blending very well. I gave this book a three star rating because it is a little out of my element of reading but enjoyed it otherwise. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Kings, queens, demons, and prophecies.

A creative storyline thrust into the fantasy world of Pangea. Cleverly written and detailed. Rich characters with relevant pasts and twists and turns. A building romance between a brutal, young king and a gorgeous princess with a warm heart. Can't wait to read the next in this series!

Nice fantasy romance

An enjoyable fantasy romance with interesting characters. The story was pretty straightforward with no real surprises, which was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting some twists to the plot.
