Maddy Phillips, a blind and paraplegic forensic psychologist, and her brother Alex return for their third mystery, as Alex visits the new Russia and is unwittingly drawn into a murderous chain of events
Award-winning author R.D. Zimmerman has been nominated for two Edgars, two Lambda Literary Awards, and an Anthony. He has written ten previous novels, including Tribe and Closet (1996 Lambda Literary Award winner) in the Todd Mills series, six children's books, and created six bestselling mystery jigsaw puzzles. Raised in Chicago, he now lives in Minneapolis.
This was an easy read, but full of suspense. The unique story line was focused on a recollection of recently-occurred events through hypnosis. Spinning family, love, crime, college, politics, and murder into a seamless story placed simultaneously in the past and present, R.D. Zimmerman did a terrific job with this book. Although the Sherlock-Holmes type breakdown of the entire story at the end was tied up by a disappointing and awkward last paragraph, I'd still give this book a well-above-average rating.
