The Don's Pregnant Hacker

Rate this book
I’m pregnant by a mafia Don and my father’s enemy.

My father wants me dead for dishonoring the family.
There’s no way I’m marrying the psychopath he picked.

So I left them both at the alter,
and was on the next thing smoking.

Now, I bartend at the White Rabbit, a safe haven for Chicago’s infamous gangsters.
That’s when I met Felix Carlisi.

When he walks in, men instinctively check their guns,
and women were ready to throw their panties.

I should’ve stayed clear,
but his deep voice was so hypnotic.

He has the face of an angel,
with the slick tongue of the devil himself,

And before the night ends,
he’s blowing my back out on top of the bar.

Now every time I think of him,
he shows up like a genie, making me fall harder.

He doesn’t know I'm the daughter of a rival mafia Don,
and wants me to work for him and move in for my safety.

It’s a dangerous game, with deadly consequences if my secrets ever touch the light,
Especially now that I’m carrying the future heir of the Carlisi crime family.

With her mother's help, Emily/Rosalie escapes from her father in his attempt to marry her off to a violent and abusive idiot. He is so angry, he puts a hit out on her. She manages to elude those hunting her and finds a place to stay and hide while working. Someone finds her but luckily she is saved. Talk about frying pan into the fire? Her rescuer is Felix who is the Don of the Carlisi family, rival to her father. She doesn't dare tell him her real name and stays with her fake name, Emily. He moves her someplace safe, his home. While she packs to leave the bar, someone catches her and forces her to hack into Felix's computers. Once Felix gets her home they call it a night. She sneaks into his office and easily gets the info the other guy wants, but discovers he is basically a good man and leaves the info behind. She quickly leaves in the middle of the night. He tracks her down, and while angry at her, he has a job her skills would be perfect for. Turns out she has quite the knack for hacking. She helps cause his enemies some problems, they retaliate in kind. She then helps track down the culprit and sets them up so that
Felix can recover a lot of money that a rival has stolen. Unfortunately someone he trusted in his compound betrayed him, he is banished. They work hard and eventually recover what was stolen. There is a lot of action in this book and some amazing cloak and dagger. Of course love is in the air. Emily knows she is on borrowed time, especially when she figures out she is pregnant. Felix takes her to a fancy party and unfortunately she runs into people who know her and her cover is blown. Felix is furious and feels betrayed, he refuses to listen to her. He drops her off at his home and gives her an hour to pack up and leave or she is as good as dead. He will not give her a chance to explain everything. She leaves but someone is waiting for her and lies to her to get her into a car with the promise of taking her to her mother. Of course they were lying and told her what happened to her mom. Devastated, she is thrown into the clutches of the evil man she was given to by her father. He finds out she is pregnant and beats her, including a blow to her belly. He tells her that as soon as they are married, he will own her and she will have an abortion. There is no escape. Meanwhile, Felix brings his men together to find her. He finds out what happened to make her run in the first place and he is horrified to realize he has put her in danger. Of course he finds the pregnancy test hidden in her room. He works with his top people and pin down a possible hideout. The action really heats up now as he and his army of allies quickly arrive to hopefully rescue her. I was on the edge of my seat and at times holding my breath with the intensity! Wait until you see what comes next! Amber Row has done it again! Well done!

-THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS

God, this was so trash, and I don't even mean the good kind. I do admit that I was looking for a nice shitty read as a palette cleanser, but this was so hard to read even though it looked so promising. The plot was ass. The writing was ass. The entire book was ASS. It was actually shit. I'm not even trying to be mean, but did anyone actually read over this and go, "Yes, this seems like it makes perfect sense!"

The way that the title and blurb are both LIES. Emily did not leave her father and ex fiance at the altar. Emily doesn't get pregnant until way over halfway through the book. Emily is not herself a hacker. I found it so stupid how, initially, she needed the help of her organisation to hack into Felix's computer, but as soon as she got hired, she was suddenly a genius.

There's so much information given in the book, and yet none of it is explained. What exactly does the Carlisi "mafia" even do because from the way they're described, they can almost pass as legitimate businesses. What even was the animosity between the Battaglias and the Carlisi because that was never explained even though it was such an important part of this non-existent plot.

Felix himself was such a bad character as well. If I wanted to read about moral law-abiding citizens, I would've picked up an office romance or something. If you're going to publish a novel about the mafia, you can't make it that the Don doesn't kill anybody. There's just no way you can be respected in that environment if you let everyone off scot free. The mafia is not some rainbow shitty fantasy filled with unicorns, so for God's sake, give me some bloody violence. I don't think I'm asking so much from what's supposed to be dark romance. There was nothing dark about this.

There was no connection between the characters either. It almost felt like this was supposed to be a play or something because most of it was just dialogue. I had to start skimming so much towards the end, and I don't think I missed anything important either. There was no love or even chemistry between the characters, and the sex didn't provide any connection either. It was so repetitive and provided nothing useful that at a certain point, I just started skipping it.

I hated how Emily was put at an equal level with Felix right from the start. My guy is a literal Don, and he gets walked all over by this bitch who literally tries to sell him out. There were so many inconsistent things throughout that if I were to make a list, it would be miles long. One example is that Felix initially knew Emily had lied about her name, but then got sudden amnesia and believed every word through her mouth.

I didn't care for the characters at all because there was no real person behind them. No personality, no quirks, not even appearances, and it was just a bad read overall.

Might add things later if I feel like it.

I don't normally read mafia romance books because I find that for me mafia and romance don't really go together but this is the first book by this author and i was curious to see what it was about and what the characters were like, plus the guy on the book cover is gorgeous!
I really liked the characters of Emily and Felix. Emily is a really smart and tough girl, she is actually a mafia princess called Rosalie Battaglia. Rosalie's father had arranged a marriage between her and a really nasty Don called Hunter Drucci with a reputation for torturing and beating women. Rosalie's mother helped her to run away and 'disappear' but there was really no place to hide from her family. Rosalie changed her name to Emily and got a job in the White Rabbit, an underground bar in Chicago which catered to gangsters and other shady people. It was at the bar that Felix, the drop dead gorgeous Don of the Carlisi family first saw Emily. There was immediate attraction between both of them. Emily ended up working for Felix as a hacker in his family's IT department when they had found out that money was being stolen from them by another mafia family, the Lucchese's. Emily was very knowledgeable about hacking although some people in the department were uncomfortable with her being there, but she was able to find out that there was a mole who had siphoned off a huge amount of money. Emily was really brave and Felix was amazed at her determination and toughness. Emily and Felix had fallen hard for each other but Emily was terrified that he would find out who she really was and knew that when he did he would walk away from her and his child child...she had just found out she was pregnant and wanted to protect her precious baby. Despite her fears, she was willing to go undercover to put in place a way to get back at the Lucchese family. I found this book to be really well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was violence including violence to a woman but I didn't find it gratuitous. The steam level was a off the charts! I definitely recommend this book and will be reading the next book from Amber Row.
I received an advance copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

What’s a girl to do when her father wants her dead because she is pregnant with his enemy’s baby ….run or try to survive so hang on and double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love (ALL THINGS TO EXPECT FROM THE MAFIA WORLD). By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! CAN’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!!!!!. Rosalie has lived her life as a mafia princess knowing her father would one day marry her off to who he felt would be a better business deal for the family, that day came he offered her to a nasty piece of work who beat, torture women, so she knew she had to escape and with her mother’s help she runs changing her name disappearing into Chi town working in an unground bar where all the shady type hang out where she meets one sexy guy. Felix sexy as all get out Don of the Carlisi family who owns the White Rabbit ruthless when needed, deadly on a good day, willing to kill for those he loves, extremely protective of those he cares for and when little girl comes in looking for a job of course he agrees to hire her knowing she belongs to him in the IT department although he was warned against her working for them but she found out who was stealing from them and we all know you don’t steal from the mafia. The attraction was instant, it was intense, and the magnetic pull couldn’t be ignored but she was living in fear everyday that he would discover who she was but she also knew she wanted to experience love …true love but will he walk away after finding out who she really is, will she be hones about her family, will she tell him about the baby, will her father find her, will her fiancé find her, will they have a future, will Felix protect her, and is there happiness for them?

So this was kind of a hard read. I couldn't get into the story. I really wanted to .. From the summary I read about the book, I thought for sure it would be good. The idea was good, but the execution failed in my opinion.

Knowing what she did about how he felt for men falling in love with enemies... why would she stay. That left her no reason to actually stay. The story was super cheesey to me. It was just so fake. Things were said that no matter how many time I re-read the sentence or even went back and re-read the page, just didn't make sense, was out of place, or contradicted what was already said or implied.

I really did try to like this. But I couldn't.

When she got taken by her ex-fiancée and Felix comes for her, she is saying how Felix is wanting to make a grab for her but because of the love for his unborn child he holds himself back.. she also said something before that how he came for her and his child or something ... my thing is ... how does she know that he knows about the baby? She got taken and she never told him ... they haven't talked and he didn't mention nothing when talking about the baby... SO HOW DOES SHE KNOW WHAT IS STOPPING HIM? Maybe its the gun to her head and the guy in between them? Lmao

Just so silly.

Interesting Mafia story with Awesome Characters
Felix Carlisi is the new Don of the Carlisi Mafia Family. Now that he’s in charge Felix plans to take his organization on a more legal less lethal path however, not everybody is on board with that new direction. Felix needs a drink and happens into the secret Mafia bar, White Rabbit where he spots an Italian beauty. The new bartender, Emily Jackson (aka Rosalie Battaglia) is on the run from an arranged marriage to an older cruel mobster. Her evil father Fronzo is the Don for the New York-based Battaglia Mafia Family, who happens to be the enemy of the Chicago Carlisi Mafia Family.
Felix pursues Emily and she ends up not only living with him but working within his business enterprises. Emily is a hacker and her mad awesome skills have uncovered a trader within the family. This is a very interesting story with good characters but for me, the story was a little slow in the middle then at the end it went way too fast. I wanted to read more about their love and marriage and the baby. Loved the cover! That guy is HOT and in my mind that was Felix. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Bookfunnel and this is my opinion. Linda

Arc Review @ 4 1/2 stars

What an intro - 1st chapter.
Not only do we become aquatinted with Felix Carlisi - Don of the Carlisi mafia family, but also the sexy/sassy bar person who has attitude/cockiness/sexy/hacker….. & daughter of the Battaglia mafia also nemesis to the Carlisi mafia.

An empowering read. Life of a Don, the expectations,/ruling/punishments etc., too ‘Family’ for Felix. Felix - Don Calisi also wants a new path layer for himself and his subordinates. He wants to change how power is delved to those who owe.

A drink at the White Rabbit, neutral grounds for all Dons led to more. Emily (Rosalie Battaglia) hiding away from her Don father and all expectations. Unbeknownst to her, a hit has been placed on her person. An escape from a vicious Don whom her father practically sold her to.
Short lived freedom, secrets, revenge, abuse, hacker, pregnancy, sass/fear. It was all here along with quite a sexual appetite.

An enjoyable read, but - personal note, did become a little to mushy near end. Moot point. There appears to be a follow up, uncertain in relation to Felix & Emily or a new Don family.

This is the 1st story by Amber I have read and I was not disappointed. Rosalie, who escaped a horrible arraigned marriage with the help of her mother now goes by Emily with some tech savvy skills. While in hiding in Illinois away from NY working as a bartender in a club that caters to wealthy mafia men she has a hook up with a sexy man, Felix a Mafia Don. Right after someone from her past threatens to expose Emily’s secret unless she does something for him, spy on Felix and get his inner most important business details. While Emily has all the information to destroy Felix she changes her mind last minute to be caught and threatened by Felix. Several unexplained incidents occur bringing these two back together to end up working together and then Emily’s secret is revealed and Felix shuts her off again only to be taken by her past as he never knew she is the daughter of his rival mafia. Felix ends up discovering more about Emily and does everything in his power to find and get her back. These two find their way back together for all the right reasons, Family and Love! Rosalie's father wants to marry her off to a man who is abusive and angry. With the help of her mother, she flees from the family home. A hit is put out on her, so when she flees, she knows she's going to have to stay hidden a bit. She changes her name, but somehow ends up being rescued by Felix who is the head of the Carlisi family. She's safe, but she's now embedded with the head of her father's biggest family rival. She ends up hacking some information from Felix for someone else, but when he catches her, she makes an excuse and leaves. He later comes to her and says he knows what she's done, but he thinks that he can use her skills. They bond emotionally and physically. But then something happens and Felix feels like Rosalie betrayed him. He doesn't give her a chance to explain. She is going to leave, but then someone comes to tell her information about her real family, but it's a trick and now Felix has to save her again.

First book I've read by Amber Row but will not be the last. Felix Carlisi, Dom of the Chicago Carlisi Family, is intrigued by the se*y, sassy bartender at the "safe" mob hangout, the White Rabbit. Emily(Rosalie) is on the run from her father, Dom of the NYC's Battaglia Mafia Family and her abusive, arranged ex-finacé, who she left at the altar. The Carlisis & the Battaglias are sworn enemies. Now with a hit on her by her own father, she's hiding in plain sight in Chicago. Felix pursues Emily relentlessly and she moves in with him and even starts to work for him. But when Emily is told by Felix he could never love his sworn enemy's daughter and Emily discovers she's pregnant, she runs again. This book is full of sizzle, steam, drama, action, twists, turns, and so much more. A solid 4 star read.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

If you enjoy action, violence, extreme passion, crime syndicates mafia style and their sociopathic behaviour, you’ll enjoy this book. The main characters Felix Carlisi and Rosalie Buttaglia are very strong and powerful and both born and raised in powerful mafia families, whom are sworn enemies. Therefore, making their relationship a forbidden one according to mafia rules. The authors writing is addictive and captivating, I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading. You’re immediately engrossed in the story from the very beginning. Lots of action, with twists and turns and intense intimacy you’ll definitely want to read 😉! It’s my first book with this author and I’ll definitely be reading more. A most recommended reading 💕 !

When Rosalie is to be married to an abusive man her mother helps her escape. While in hiding she uses the name Emily and has manage to survive. However, one night it looks like it is all for nothing when a sexy stranger steps in to save her. Felix turns out to be a rival of her family's, so she never tells him her real name. Its not long before things heat up between them. Yet a misunderstanding has him making her leave. Will he realize his mistake before its too late? Is there a chance for them?

This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first chapter. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

A new-to-me author and with the title I will admit I wasn’t expecting anything special. However, I can admit when I was wrong and on later sleuthing found the author has a series with similar sounding titles. Note to self, don’t be judgey.
All to say I liked this more than I anticipated. The writing was really good, there was good pacing throughout and the plot was good. It was also nice to see mafia activity in a mafia book. So many of them just focus on the couple. My one little quibble was I think the FMC could have been aged up. Besides her saying what her age was, it never mattered beyond that. I’m a little tired of all these powerful mafia dons in their mid 30’s falling for 19 year olds.

This is a Alexander’s and Ary’s story. First time meeting she ends up pregnant. Not sure how his father, Luca, head of one of the five Mafia families finds this out, but orders Alexander and Ary into hiding for the duration of the pregnancy to protect her from one of their rival mafia family’s who has decided to declare a war against them. She’s hiding her true identity from him and repeatedly lies to him about who she actually is. She proves her loyalty to him and his family repeatedly, but it’s very slow going to receive their trust. Nice story, well developed and characters are described well.

Don & Hacker

I loved this book. Great storyline. Content was on point. However, some chapters dragged on and could have been eliminated. For example ch 34 started out great and it flowed but in the middle of the chapter it reverted back to when the lead character was trying to find a way “out” of her situation. The book had already addressed that scene in an earlier chapter , so that section in chapter 34 was confusing. Then the epilogue picked up at their wedding day with a steamy sex scene but did not necessarily address the pregnancy results, boy or girl?

Overall it was a great storyline but the ending needs a bit more clarity and flow.

Emily is on the run and hiding in plain sight from her father in another state. When she is spotted by a familiar person he gives her an ultimatum, get Felix to fall in love with her and spy for him or he turns her in to her father. This exciting story kept me glued to the pages to see how Felix and Emily's story ends. It is filled with dramatic twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages from start to finish.

Excellent, full of twists
Completely unpredictable: the narrative seems to go in one direction with probable manipulation, but also quickly changes direction. The story of Emilie/Rosalie is touching, rather violent, but also once you meet Felix hot.
The mixture of mafia and hacker worlds creates a universe full of manipulations and permanent tension. From betrayals to proofs of trust. The story is moving by the empathy brought to the character of Rosalie: she is constantly stuck between what she wants and what she has to do.

An entertaining mafia romance read that was confusing at times.
Emily (Rosalie Battaglia) was a mafia princess until her father tried to marry her off to a psychopath, so she's been hiding in a haven in Chicago.
Felix Carlisi is a mafia Don for the Carlisi family who's trying to put a new management which some don't like.
It had drama, action, twists and turns, steam, and romance.

A fantastic 5 star read

The author has absolutely nailed it with Felix & Emily's story. Their story is a mafia rollercoaster ride of so many emotions. He's a bad boy mafia Don & she's a hacker on the run from a rival family. Their connection is undeniable but is it just pure lust or something more? How long can she keep the secret of who she is? What will he do when he learns her identity?.

Received an ARC for an honest review.
I loved every chapter of this book, it was filled with action, drama, sexy scenes from beginning to end. The characters were well written and story line was great to read.

Don Carlisi or Felix Carlisi, is your Alpha dominant character, you kinda have to be as a Don. Emily isn't your damsel in distress heroine. She's freaking badass, she's knows self defense and she's got a sassy attitude.

Emily is not her real name, she's a really Mafia Princess name Rosalie. Why the secrecy? Her father has a hit out on her for running out on an arranged marriage and the psychopath she's supposed to marry, wants her to break her emotionally and physically.

Working at the most dangerous bar frequent the Mafia men, this is where her path crossed with Felix Carlisi. The chemistry was instant on both ends. Felix didn't realize that Emily isn't your typical bartender, she hides alot more secrets than he thought.

It's a great book, lots of action and an enjoyable read.

Mafia family enemies

This is a great mafia story. Emily/Rosalie is on the run from her family as they’ve promised her hand to a violent mafia boss. When she falls for Felix, another mafia family boss, while using a different name, she has to fight to keep her secret and her heart safe.

A great mafia love story with steamy scenes and plenty of action which will keep you reading to the end.

Wow, I'm actually blown away by this story. So much happens within the first 5 chapters, that I wasn't really sure how the story was going to keep going for another 30 odd chapters. But I can tell you Amber does not disappoint!! It was action packed and kept you needing to know who, and what happens next.
