Rate this book
The Ghosted Bridge is a ghost story set against the backdrop of mystical Sedona, Arizona, and the real life disaster of Minnesota’s I-35W bridge collapse on August 1, 2007.

About the book:

Minnesota housewife Katherine Simon is fed up with her life. The economic downturn of the past few years cost her husband his job and is chipping away at her sanity. Now Katherine is desperate to know what the next chapter holds. Madison Morgan is a Sedona psychic making her living offering a look into the future for the hundreds of clients who come through her door as a part of their spiritual sojourns. When the two meet for a reading one cold day, neither can imagine what will happen when a mysterious ghost overtakes Madison’s life to save Katherine from a tragedy no one could predict.

The Ghosted Bridge gives a glimpse into the mesmerizing world of psychic what-ifs as it follows Madison’s attempt to decipher a pattern of supernatural clues, Katherine’s struggle to overcome life’s challenges and the ghost’s desperate bid to stop Katherine from driving onto the bridge at 6:01 p.m. on a fated summer evening.

This book is a great summer read, and summer is not over! Go get a copy and park yourself in a comfy chair with a cool libation, because you are in for a treat. I couldn't put this book down! The story kept me hooked from the very first page. When I reached the end, I enjoyed the resolution, but found myself reluctant to let go of the characters, for whom I had developed a warm affection.

I enjoy reading stories about the paranormal, mostly ghosts and spirit entities. This book was a page turner dealing with a psychic and the ghost who contacted her while doing a reading for a customer.

The author spread the story out over an eight month period, I believe it was. The chapters went back and forth between the psychic and a woman who had visited her. We got to know the two of them well and also the ghost and her background. I really loved the messages from the ghost as they were brilliantly written.

I found it really interesting how the characters lives were brought together in this well written book. This book had a very original storyline which has a real tragedy written into a work of fiction.

Kristy Abbott, I look forward to reading more of your work. I would recommend this if you are looking for a good book dealing with the supernatural!

Author/Freelance Writer Kristy Abbott has taken a real-life tragic event in Mpls in 2007 and composed real, beautiful and flawed characters to make for a compelling fictional storyline. For many Minnesotans we do remember where we were when a major bridge collapsed that August and transfixed a nation. However, the real story here is superb writing, 2 running narratives which involve Minnesota and Arizona and a final summation that leaves us yearning for more. I purposely read this just under 250 page novel slowly because it was intriguing, mesmerizing-(one of the main characters is a psychic). Her and the other characters in this wonderful debut novel will give you cause to applaud a creative, fantastic story. One of the best books of the year; simply loved it.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! I loved the characters and the way the author delved into each of their histories gliding between the past and present.

This book became my companion for the weekend.... Couldn't put it down, and had to wean myself at the end ....I was sad it was ending. I think of the different characters , Kathryn, Madison, Wayne, Wes , Grant, all of them touched my heart. I want to know more about what has happened to them these last few years. So endearing with real issues ....

Started this book with high hopes, since I'm a native Minnesotan and, therefore, was familiar with the I-35 bridge collapse AND I had recently returned from a weekend jaunt to Sedona, Arizona. How would the author connect these 2 seemingly disparate places? I was anxious to find out. Alas! It never happened. The story dragged on and on (C'mon Ghost, enough with the games. Spit out what you have to say already - sheesh.....) with weird coincidences and off-topic tangents. Perhaps the author should have gone with a short story format.

I hate to give a book 1 star, especially when you know the author worked tirelessly on it, but this book was an incredible disappointment. It had the potential to be a good book, but was too sloppy to make it there. It would have benefitted greatly from a better/different editor and a box of red pens. I wouldn't recommend this book and I question the other reviewers who said they would. Don't waste your valuable time.

The Ghosted Bridge has everything a summer page turner should have. Her characters come alive and you feel like you've known them for years. They experience real struggles and the kind of dialogue that happens in everyday life. It's warm yet suspenseful and every page kept me wanting more. Well done Kristy Abbott!
