The Cowboys of Chance Creek #3

The Cowboy Imports a Bride

Rate this book
Rob Matheson’s a fighter. Flattening enemies with his fists or with his legendary practical jokes, he’s a tough enemy, and a troublesome friend. But Rob doesn’t know how much longer he can keep up the act. As his buddies get married one by one, he’s left with his lonely life – and the sinking feeling he lost more than his dreams when he traded them for a thick skin. Now Rob’s father has issued a challenge – he’ll give 200 acres of prime Montana ranchland to the first of his four sons to wed. No conditions, no meddling. Could this be a chance to become the man he really wants to be?

Morgan Tate’s worked for years to climb the ladder to a top job at Cassidy Wineries, but Duncan Cassidy, the boss’ son, always stands in her way. Now he’s issued an ultimatum; marry him or he’ll make sure she never works in the wine industry again. Morgan wants marriage – and a family – but not with Duncan. A certain cowboy in Chance Creek, Montana, has stolen her heart.

When Rob offers Morgan a proposition – marry him and split the land – they both find themselves with an ethical dilemma. They don’t know each other well enough to wed, but they can’t lie about their intentions before God and man, either.

Now they’ve got sixty days to fall in love, and a passel of family and friends determined to keep them apart. The victims of Rob’s previous jokes are lining up to get their revenge, and Morgan’s half-sister, Claire, is stirring up their mother’s past.

Will it take the biggest practical joke of all to convince the world – and themselves – that they’re truly meant to be man and wife?

I really liked The Cowboy Imports a Bride. I loved Rob and Morgan together. They were sweet together. I felt like everyone treated them like shit. I was angry for them. Especially Claire.... She is still a bitch no change there. She treated Morgan like shit in this book too. I love how much Rob worked to give Morgan her dream. This book was my favorite so far.

I don't think I'm going to continue this series. I liked Rob in book 1 and I loved him, I just didn't care for Morgan or maybe it was more their story.

I didn't understand their chemistry but I also didn't read book 2 because I hate the sister and Jamie bored me in book 1. So if chemistry stated there I missed out on it.

The way everyone treated Rob was disgusting and how his mom just allowed his father and brothers to constantly bully him irritated me. Everyone kept pulling practical jokes on each other and I was over it. Like it was starting to be stupid. First I thought I was just Rob and Ethan going back and forth. Not the whole town. What's that about?

Morgan's need to not have sex with Rob left me confused. They pledged theirselves to each other with the promise of forever but she wouldn't have sex until she had that guarantee. I don't know, it was like once it happened I was bored. I never felt this huge love between them.. By the time Rob and Morgan pulled yet another practical joke telling everyone they were leaving I was over it and had hoped they really did move.

The hidden secrets of Ethan and Claire's mom. Confusing and dumb. Claire was a bitch and everyone allows her to continue being this way. Sucks because I did enjoy book 1.

Just what I needed...hot, fun and cowboy-rific!

As the readers of my reviews…you should see a trend in my reading: Cowboys, fighters, rodeo cowboys, fighting cowboys, and just for good measure I read some bikers too. So it should come as no surprise that when the opening line in a book called The Cowboy Imports a Bride is “Rob Matheson’s a fighter”, I hit the request button on Net Galley. Rob is the youngest of four and life with three older brothers constantly telling you what to do and how to do can get old pretty quickly. Add on to that, a father who marginalizes you, a family that dismisses you and a whole town that believes you are a joke.

Morgan first came to Chance Creek when her mother died. Being the illegitimate child no one wanted scarred Morgan’s self-esteem, but living in the shadow of her half siblings has taken a bite out of her soul. The only person who seems to see her for the person she really is on the inside is Rob Matheson, the handsome Chance Creek cowboy. Even months after they first met, Morgan can’t stop thinking about him. Then, he appears on her door step and my heart leapt along with Morgan’s. They had instant chemistry, but I loved how the story unfolded and these two great kids “decided” to love each other and vowed to commit to each other forever. Like an arranged marriage, Morgan and Rob arranged their future in Chance Creek on the 200 acres Rob was promised as a wedding gift.

But, of course, the arrangement doesn’t go smoothly. I did love how these two talked and talked and talked (and squeezed a whole lotta lovin’ in too)…they never gave up on them as a couple, their future or their chance at love. I loved how the side characters would pop in and out of the story and yet Morgan and Rob were strong and honest with each other throughout their trials. A fun, smexy, happily ever after between a cowboy and a west coast Canadian girl! Enjoy!

★★★½✩ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Nicely narrated by Amy Rubinate. Quick, fast story that she handled well.

There were story-lines in this I enjoyed more than in the other books, but by contrast, I was disappointed with other parts that just didn't come across as quite right. Or maybe "fully developed" is more accurate. The arguments were not between the hero and heroine (which was nice!), but mostly between the other characters from previous books. Nice change of pace, that. Loved Rob's epiphany moment in the bar, too.

A lot of the reasons for the animosity between Rob and is brothers is uncovered here, and they certainly held my interest. However, I particularly didn't like the confrontation between Rob and his father, Holt.

In addition, I was very unhappy that Claire, from The Cowboy Wins a Bride, is still a self-centered bitch; while this may make her consistent with book #2, it makes me like her book even less, as I believed the love and security of Jamie's arms tamed the "beast," so gave my rating the benefit of the doubt. Instead, some of Claire's bad traits rubbed on on Jamie in book #3. Thank goodness Ethan & Autumn were still their wonderful selves!

Still, I'm going to continue with the series.

The Cowboy Imports a Bride is a 2013 One Acre publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In this book Rob gets his comeuppance for all those practical jokes. People do not believe he is capable of being serious, holding down a serious job or being serious about just one girl. But, Rob is pining over Claire's half sister, Morgan. When his father announces he will give 200 hundred acres to the first son that gets married, Rob makes a beeline to Morgan. She gives Rob three things he must do in order for her to marry him. One is to cherish her, one is to help her start her own vineyard and the other is to start a family. Rob readily agrees. But, things get complicated when he tells his family what his plans are. His dad swears there is no way his land will ever be tilled for a vineyard. So, Rob finds another solution only to have that blow up in his face as well. Together Rob and Morgan will have to decide if they should still marry or if they will let their families drive them apart.

This is another solid installment in the Chance Creek series. Rob's father is a real manipulator and no matter which way Rob turns he can't seem to win. This book will examine the positive results from being able and willing to work together and make some concessions in order for things to work out for everyone. Overall this one is a B.

When Rob´s father promises a bit of land to the son that marries first, Rob is quick to propose to the woman who´s caught his eye. Morgan is ready for a change in life herself, so after a bit of negotiations, they´ve agreed, marriage and family while working together with her dream of a winery.
Neither of them expected the reactions from their families, though.
Can they get what they dream of, without sacrificing their loved ones?
Contemporary romance, emotions and smutty fluff in a great combo.

An arranged marriage not like one I've ever read before. I'm glad Rob finally got his act together both with stopping the practical jokes and going after what he wanted, Morgan and the land. I can't wait to see what they find out about Morgan, Claire and Ethan's mom in the next book. Also looking forward to Cab' HEA.

This book is a sweet romance. I liked it but there was so much dramas, it was getting on my nerves and I don't really like when a book does that to me. Even if it is the third book in the series, you can read it as a stand alone but if you want to be more attached to the characters at very the beginning, you should start the first two books before starting this one. :)

Since he's a boy, Rob learned how to protect himself from his three older brothers by learning how to fight and how to keep people at arms-length with his practical jokes. It became an instinct for him and because of it, he isn't taking seriously by anyone. He hates working at the ranch of his father but does it anyway because he's a hard worker. He isn't happy and knows that something is missing in his life. And that something could be a someone. The offer of his father could also be the perfect opportunity for him to be happy.

Morgan is living in Canada on her own. She doesn't really have a family because her parents had a family on their own. Her father doesn't care about her, and her mother just died. She came in Chance Creek to meet her half-siblings and fell in love with Rob, their neighbour. When he showed up at her doorway in Canada, she's pleased and surprised. He proposes marriage and it's her possibility to have what she always wanted: a winery and a baby.

They're struggling to pass the problems they're facing with the others characters. Especially with Claire, and Rob's dad. Even writing their name makes me remember how much they got on my nerves. The chastity with Morgan was also annoying..

This rating for me is entirely personal preference in story-telling.

I am very picky about my cowboy fiction.

In short I either hate it or I love it.

I was lost somewhere in the middle, because the first half I wasn't totally into. I couldn't quite relate to any of the characters in the story. I struggled between them being selfish, prudish, and a bit arrogant.

I wasn't all together sold on the whole, "I'm not a virgin, but I am now, and I'm not going to be with a man before I'm married--oh wait, I want you now so come get me."

You basically know from the get go that this couple is in love with one another. There is a chemistry that you can actually feel because of the strong writing. However the author tosses in some past hang ups in order to not jump right into the sexual content of the story--there is some religious type reasoning, and it comes off almost awkward.

It was a forced conflict that sort of interfered with the flow of the story-telling. Once the characters got comfortable it seemed I was able to enjoy the story more. Basically, when she got over her need to be a prude I was down with the story. Yes, the father and half-sister were annoying. But I have personally dealt with lame family members--and it is entirely believable that family would act the way they did in this creating unneeded drama.

As a whole--it was personal preference on my part where it comes to the stories entertainment value. I know a target audience for this series and I realized it was not me. The writing and voice was very strong. If it wasn't I wouldn't have had such strong feelings towards the characters. I just thought it was too light and sweet for me.

ARRANGED MARRIAGE

having read the previous book in this series The Cowboy Wins a Bride. This was IMO a better read. I liked the heroine in this story a whole lot more.

Rob Matheson works on his family's ranch with his parents and brothers. Rob is a bit of a womaniser, practical joker and fighter. But deep down he's not happy with his lot in life. When his father offers 200 acres to the first son to marry and produce grandchildren, this gives Rob pause to think. Morgan the sister that Ethan and his Sister Claire, never knew they had. Was recently in Chance Creek. Rob had been attracted to Morgan more than any other woman before.
With 200 acres up for grabs and a chance to do something worthwhile on his own, he makes a decision to ask Morgan to marry him.

Rob and Morgan were likeable characters and I couldn't help but root for them in this story. They face an uphill battle with friends and family, making this an entertaining and enjoyable read. Characters from the previous books appear.
The love scenes are very sensuous and emotional. A good addition to the series.

So I did enjoy this.

However... Claire is the biggest effing bitch in the world. Seriously, I have never liked her, and she just made my dislike of her that much stronger in this book. Jamie whom I really previously liked before was a bit of an ass for the short amount of time he was in it.

I liked Morgan. Honestly, she seems the most level headed and normal out of all the women in the series so far. (Though I can't remember how I felt about Autumn). Though her fears about getting pregnant before marriage were a bit juvenile. Especially given that she was engaged to him! AND WANTED CHILDREN!!!

So that whole plot just made her cold to me. Never marry a man without sleeping with him first... otherwise you might regret your bedroom compatibility.

The families were sooo awful. Honestly, the way that Rob's father and brothers treated him... awful. And their reasons for it? Not good enough in my opinion.

Though even with that... I did enjoy it.

The Cowboy Imports a Bride
This saga continues with another of the original men. Lots of backstory to bring you up to date on the happenings around town and in the couples lifes.
This one is about how the father of the four Matheson boys offers them 200 acres of land for free to be the first to get marrieds.
This book is mainly about Rob and his intended Morgan-from Ethan's side of the family, previously met in earlier books. She runs the family vineyard in Canada and when her half sister becomes pregnant her father can't make it to their meeting.
She just wants her dreams to come true....Love learning about the vineyard business. Rob dishes out the practical jokes and he fast learns how the tables turn on him....Rob just knew his father would put more stipulations on the land...
Hot steamy sex and Claire and Jaime get married. Mysteries, confessions and upheavals, more clues to find.
More in the series are planned.

This is a well written and edited romance novel set on a ranch in Montana.

The Hero is desperate to become independent from his father and his family's ranch. The heroine is a talented wine maker looking for the right place to settle down. When his father swears to give land to the first of his sons to marry the story takes off.

Family conflict and self doubt almost ruin this couple's plans, but all of the conflict leads to a HEA.

This is a good book for a light weekend or vacation read.

This is the story of Rob and Morgan, it started in The Cowboy wins a Bride and let me tell you is lovely the way these two fall in love.
It's a funny, romantic and sexy story. Of course there's drama and the predicament if they should be together.
You'll like it.

If you haven't read the other books in this series, go back and do that now. You will definitely enjoy the series more as each one continues where the last one left off.

Rob has always been the prankster of this group of friends and he didn't expect to fall heads over heals for Morgan. Morgan was a surprise to everyone as it was revealed that she is Ethan and Claire's sister and the reason their mother disappeared every year.

With Morgan back in Canada the pranks on Rob begin. However the biggest thing is Rob's father Holt's declaration that the first of his sons to marry gets 200 acres of land. Land they can use as they please. Rob's first thought is Morgan, he just has to convince her to marry him.

Morgan's worked her way up the ladder at the winery and finally has her own vintage being released. Her boss's son Duncan is a problem, he has been pushing for dates and does some pretty shady things to get her alone.

Now you know Rob's proposal isn't going to immediately cause Morgan to say yes. There's quite the discussion before an agreement.

Rob shows up at the vineyard the next day, and while Morgan didn't really want him there, she didn't tell him not to visit. I really love the way Rob handles Duncan and embraces the information the workers give him.

This book is so much fun even with all the family drama and Rob finding alternatives for him and Morgan to start a vineyard. The simmer to sizzle relationship is a large part of this, but it's all the other things sneaking in to cause controversy and angst that kept me turning the pages.

It's also great to see everyone again, Ethan and Autumn, Jamie and Claire, Rob's brothers Ned and Jake, Cab and well the whole dang crew shows up for Claire's wedding. From wedding gowns to promises this book is packed with surprises.

I am already starting the next book, to see what happens next.

This is book three in this series and I have liked this best. I actually almost gave up on the series. Morgan lives in Canada and is the half sister to Ethan and Claire. Let’s just say Claire is still a witch. Rob is the youngest boy in the Matheson family. His brothers pound on him and never give him the opportunity to prove himself. He is wailed on and rarely spoken to except to boss him around.

One day Holt Matheson informs his sons that it is time for marriage and grand babies. The first to do that will receive some acreage. Rob met Morgan when she came to Montana to look for her mother -some chemistry sparked. Rob heads to Canada to propose to Morgan. Life isn’t so grand in Canada. Her mother has died and her father totally feels like just a sperm donor and hardly acknowledges Morgan as his daughter. The bosses son is an arrogant idiot and his advances are making Morgan very uncomfortable. Rob and Morgan talk about their wishes and dreams. The two are engaged.

When Rob brings Morgan home to Chance Creek his highly dysfunctional family comes out of the closet. While all things get resolved it is a haul. Claire is even more of a witch as the question: What did their mother do with all that money that put the ranch in deep debt - is directed solely at Morgan. These two have plans and dreams and Rob is out of the practical jokester line.

This book was sexier than the previous books. It was great to watch Morgan and Rob fall in love and plan their life.

In book three in the Cowboys of Chance Creek series, Morgan Tate is the assistant manager at a winery in Victoria, Canada, and she’s having to fend off her boss’s arrogant, womanizing son. She’s only interested in one man, but he lives in another country.
No body takes cowboy Rob Matheson seriously—not his friends, his family, or the women he dates. Then he met Morgan, and she actually treats him with kindness and respect. After a long hard look at his life, he decides he wants to marry her. Luckily for him, she needs a change, too, and Montana is the perfect place for both of their dreams to come true.
Morgan and Rob were great characters. They were honest with each other about everything in their lives. They respected each other and were a match made in Heaven. They had problems along the way, with their controlling families and friends disapproving of their relationship and their dreams, but they stuck together and worked through it as a team.
I really enjoyed revisiting Autumn and Ethan, the couple from book one. I’m not crazy about Rob’s father and brothers, however, especially his brother Ned, so I’m curious as to how the Matheson boys will redeem themselves in their own books, later on the series.
Other than a few typos, the narrative flowed well and kept my attention. Ms. Seton has created an interesting world with mostly likable characters, and I’m looking forward to reading more.

Rob and Morgan are great together

Rob was the one always playing jokes on everyone and avoiding working on the ranch as much as possible. Morgan is the half sister that Claire and Ethan never knew about. We shows up looking for her mom not knowing that she died a while ago. The ranch was left with a huge debt when Claire and Ethan's parents died because their mom was traveling overseas all the time and spending lots of money. When she goes back to Canada, where she is along she starts to rethink her future. When Rob shows up unexpectedly, he proposes to her because he wants the land his dad said he would give to the first son who marries. Can the pull off that the are engaged for the right reasons or will everyone think he is found this just to get the land? What will happen when everyone blames her for all the tension with his family and between Jamie, Claire, and Rob?

Emotional story that pulls you in!

Rob's dad Holt has stated that the first of his 4 sons to get married will get 200 acres of the ranch land to do anything they want. He has not been able to get Morgan off his mind, so he tracks her down in Canada with a proposition...and a proposal! But when they get back to Chance Creek, things don't seem to work out the way they had hoped. Can Rob and Morgan find a way to make their dreams come true in Chance Creek?

The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and engaging. Read these in order. You Can get books 0 - 2 in a box set. Book 0 is a kind of introduction to Chance Creek. Enjoy this story chock full of emotional content. These are 2 characters you really want to see succeed.

From the title of this book--The Cowboy Imports a Bride--you might think that the story is about a mail order bride. Nope! This book by Cora Seton, is about the importance of family and showing love and respect. The main characters, Rob Matheson and Morgan Tate, have dreams of accomplishing something on their own, without being dictated to by family or friends. But they also don't want to move away in order to be happy. This third book in the Cowboys of Chance Creek series, is entertaining and well written. Rob and Morgan were easy to imagine and root for. This book worked as a standalone but it will leave you wanting to know more about the people of Chance Creek!

I wouldn't say I LOVED it, but I did really enjoy reading it. I didn't really like the big reveal as to what Aria did with all the money, it really brought down my enjoyment of the book because I think if it wasn't there I probably would have marked it 5 stars. These books are just so easy to read and a really nice thing to read between books and stuff because they're not super deep (they've got some depth but nothing too serious that'll leave me heartbroken or angry with anything that went down) and I really like that!

WOW! What a powerful story. Finding out about Rob's family was an interesting journey to go on. The same goes for Morgan's family. What an interesting family dynamics. I love Rob & Morgan's love story. Two lost souls finding each other & pledging their love for each other before actually falling truly in love with each other. I am so happy that these two finally got their happily ever after! FANTASTIC job Cora! I listened to this entire book in one day - couldn't stop listening to it! I would recommend this book and audio!

So somehow I skipped this one and read all the others in the series. I always liked Rob. It was nice getting to know Morgan. But I didn’t understand some of her choices (the whole no sex thing before marriage...even though she’s not a virgin...but then has sex before marriage anyway...?).

The Matheson brothers were jerks in this books. Looking back, I’m glad I skipped this one because I’m not sure I would have continued. And Holt (The dad)...man this old guy can be ruthless!

Cab still remains my favorite cowboy in the series.

Practical joker turned serious

Rob is the ever practical joker but he had a deeper side to him. He has always felt undervalued by his father and brothers and wants something for himself. Morgan kind of swept him off his feet as she was the only woman who didn't want something from him and was the only one who he could be open with with his dreams. A chance proposal and deal made can they make it together.

Rob is a restless cowboy. No responsibilities to speak of and he is bored. When his father offers 200 acres to the first of his four sons to marry, Rob leaves for Canada to ask Morgan to marry him. They had met the month before and he wanted desperately to see her again. Things just keep going wrong and Rob and Morgan decide they may have to leave home to a hive their dreams.
