Keisha Tyree is a thirty-three year old author and mother. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, she currently resides in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area. Having been a lover of words and reading from a very young age, Ms. Tyree's progression into writing seemed to happen almost naturally. Starting out, she mostly penned short stories and poetry. After sharing her work with a few family members and friends, Keisha was overwhelmingly encouraged to turn her short stories into full length novels. She pondered on the ideal for a while, but it wasn't until she began working as a personal assistant to New York Times bestselling authors, Ashley and JaQuavis, that Ms. Tyree truly decided to pursue her dreams of becoming an author. Gestating her work for months, Ms. Tyree banged away at the keyboard every day until the last word was written and her debut novel, Heavy, was finally born.

Keisha Tyree's writing style is byproduct of the streets in which she was raised; gritty, urban, honest and uncut. Her work seeks to shed light on the untold stories from our nation's countless, and often times forgotten about ghettos. Signed to the Official Writer's League (O.W.L), the publishing company created by author's Ashley & JaQuavis Coleman, Keisha's debut novel Heavy, is currently causing a stir in world of urban fiction.

Keisha is currently hard at work on the follow up to Heavy, which is due out fall/winter 2013.

Heavy was an amazing, story well written and authentic, Keisha Tyree knocks this tale out of the park as she gives you a story, of love. loss , vengeance and one woman's quest for the truth.
After Omar Drake's kingpin dreams are stolen in a puff of gunsmoke ,his beautiful and smart wife Alaska is heartbroken and angry, sucked into the drug underworld, she must navigate the treacherous waters of her new found trade, because at that level of the game, death lurks around every corner and loyalty is just a word.
I was amazed that this was her debut novel as she writes precise and descriptively, One of my favorite reads for the year. And one of my favorite debut novels ever.

Author Keisha Tyree did a great job with her debut novel HEAVY. I enjoyed the storyline and the twists and turns made the story unpredictable.

Omar Drake is about to become the street's King. Omar has caught the eye of Colombian drug lord Sebastian Santee'. After a successful meeting, the two men forge a partnership that allows Omar to put the city's dope game on lock down. Omar takes the streets by storm until he is shot and killed.

Alaska Drake is devastated by the murder of her husband. She quickly find herself consumed with thoughts of revenge.

I loved the characters , I thought they were well developed through the story. I love the name Alaska.

The author did an excellent job the story will capture your interest from the beginning and hold it until the end.
I recommend that you add this book to your list of books to read this year.
I am sure you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
Thank you to the author for an excellent story, I look forward to reading more from you.

Great story

This book was a really good read, with a lot of twists and turns..... I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but the amount of grammatical errors made me give it 4, but if you followed the story and enjoyed it like I did you will look past it. I'll be honest though, I wanted to stop during the first couple of chapters because of the errors but I stuck it out and I'm glad I did

Aside from a few minor errors, this was a really good book. Omar was looking to take over Las Vegas and things began dwindling before his big opportunity came. I felt bad for Alaska because even though she knew the consequences of being the wife of a big timer, she was truly heartbroken. Draya was a mess! She put up with a lot from Jay and I thought for sure she would ride things out with him. Sophia was head strong when she was first introduced but that heifer took things to the extreme once she felt neglected. I couldn't understand why she thought things should've been more than they really were. I had to give it to Alaska because she was willing to do whatever she could to get make at the ones that caused her so much pain. I was curious about Santee and once things started being revealed I understood why he lied, but he should've given Alaska an explanation before she found out things on her own. Xavier was failing at everything he did. Smh! Draya needed to be punch! She was so content with the things Jay did for her when he was in the streets that when things began going downhill she didn't care what had to be done for her to come up. At least Vanessa was good for something. I didn't even feel bad once Sophia and Draya got what they deserved for not being loyal. I can't wait to jump in part 2 and see what more comes about. Will Jackie succeed on the mission Alaska sent her on, will Santee get over Alaska's final stunt, what happened to Xavier, and what will come about for Alaska?

I just finished reading a book called Heavy. It was written by Keisha Tyree. This is my first time to reading from this author. I have take my time to reading this book. It is a well written and well concept.

Keisha Tyree introduces her readers to Alaska Drake. Alaska is a loyal and good woman to Omar Drake. I felt bad what's happen to Omar. Draya is a dumb and stupid girl. Jay is a smart and sexy dude but he is not a good man to Draya. Mrs. Drake finally could move on with her life.

This book is an amazing. Ms. Tyree did a good job. This author and book deserved five stars from me. I'm looking forward to read part 2 of this book. Also, I'm looking forward to read another book from this author.

Nice Read!

A Book Worth Reading!

This is definitely worth reading! I hate that Omar had to die but I cannot help to wonder what Santee' has in store for Alaska ... I guess the engagement is off ... lol
I highly recommend this book and I anticipate another banger with the sequel! There were some minor grammatical errors ... it definitely didn't take anything away from the storyline. All in all, the author did a great job!

This is my first read from This author and it won't be my last. This story had so many twist and turns in it. Draya was trifling and truly got what she deserved. I liked Omar and wish he wasn't killed so early n the story. Alaska is a true rider and I can't wait for part 2 to see what Santee is going to do.
