When College professor Daniel Corrigan was brutally kicked out of his home after revealing his true sexuality to his wife, he had to make a whole new life for himself. For the first time in two years Daniel’s main heartache isn't the none-existent relationship with his two kids, but the fact that the grade-A-sex deal with his student Troy Anderson is about to expire. After a whole semester of office fun, Troy has managed to squeeze his way into the core of Daniel’s soul. Daniel, however, is positive he’s nothing more to Troy but a teacher who can modify a grade.

I haven't been writing since I was in diapers, nor have I been an avid reader since I learned my ABC's. I have, however, always been a daydreamer spinning tales after tales. After having exhausted every possible scenario of man-woman love, I started weaving stories of men who love men. I know! So much hotter. This time I wrote it all down.
I live in Iceland with my adorable little twin boys, and I'm happy with what I have. I often say that my real name sounds like Klingon to foreigners so I don’t even bother revealing it. I've been writing for several years, or ever since reading became an obsession.
I was a bit hesitant to read this one because I'm not really fond of the whole trading sex for grades theme. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see the genuine feelings Daniel and Troy had for each other. How wrong I was because these two definitely show genuine, intense feelings. My heart broke for Daniel and the situation he's in with his ex-wife and kids and his job.
Daniel has a 'I don't give a fuck' attitude that transfers over to his job as a professor. He pretty much hates his life and the only bright spot in it is Troy, one of his students. He develops feelings for Troy and becomes extremely jealous whenever he sees Troy with someone else. Ironically, Troy feels the same way. These two are so passionate and intense together that I really loved them.
I just wished this one had been longer! I absolutely love this series but they are too short! I want to know more about Troy and how these two continue their relationship. I just want more :(
Definitely a great read if you're looking for something intensely hot and short.
Grade-A-Sex Deal (College Fun and Gays, #2) by Erica Pike
Erica Pike has written the second novel in the series College Fun and Gays, I really like Erica’s writing it’s easy to read and before you know it your at the end of the book wanting more. Can I say hurry up Erica I need book 3.
In this story we are introduced to College Professor Daniel Corrigan, who is living a pretty sad life, he was kicked out of his home, bashed by his children and thank god he had his brother who helped in start over. Daniel was sick of living a lie and came out to his family and now deals with the horrible consequences.
Troy who is one of Daniel students has made a deal with the professor he will service him once a week for an A. Troy is a handsome outgoing young man, and Daniel knows deep down he doesn’t want to let Troy go.
Well if that isn’t enough both men are keeping secrets from each other and school is soon coming to end. Can Professor Daniel Corrigan and Troy open up to each other, can they decipher through the lies they have told one another, can they admit the love they actually feel? You must read to find out these answers.
Erica Pike is great at writing hot steamy romance novels, I’ve rated this novel a 4, and I really need to read more in this series.
Second installment in this series. It was not what I expected and has a bit more questionable content. This one is basically about a professor who has sex with his student in exchange for giving the student good grades. According to the story, this is fairly common practice, which I found a bit odd, but it is only a story, after all. That aside, the professor and the student both go through some struggles as the end of their relationship nears with the end of the class and how their relationship turns out to be more than either of them realized. I enjoyed the easy reading and fast pace of this story and am interested to see what direction the next one will go in.
I had fun reading this. Daniel was obviously bitter and didn't realize how interesting he was to his students, especially Troy. It was sexy, steamy and really enjoyable short read. I need this kind of story time after time though.
I was incredibly leery about reading this one, because the idea of trading sex for a grade didn’t seem like it would leave room for a story, it would be more of a PWP (porn without plot) kind of thing. I was happily surprised to realize there was a very decent story arc here. I do wish the story had been longer (it’s very short), because Daniel really deserves his story be told in more detail.
Daniel had been married to his best friend, had a son and a daughter, and was desperately unhappy hiding his true self. When he finds the courage to come out to his wife, he thought she would be supportive. She was supposed to love him, after all, and no matter what she was his best friend. Well, he finds out she wasn’t the love or the friend she pretended to be, and Daniel loses just about everything as a result of this. He has next to nothing, having lost his job when his wife lets them know he is gay (say “lawsuit should have”), his house, his relationship with his children (who I did just dislike throughout even though you hardly hear about them), just everything. He is able to get a job teaching because of his brother. You expect him to be bitter and raging about life in general, and he comes across that way, especially in the beginning.
He has Grade A for Sex deals with various students, and when he talks about the straight ones, I really didn’t like him. But, he is a wounded soul, for me anyway. One of his sex for a grade tricks is a lovely thing named Troy. Daniel’s additional problem is, he is falling for this young man, knowing it can’t work, age difference, no prospects, nothing.
By the end, I so wanted more for Daniel (and his son just about made my head explode, the big idiot). Kudos to Ms. Pike, in addition, for the disclaimer regarding condoms. The scene completely fit the moment, and she acknowledges that, without making it a “correct” thing. Read and see, and give Daniel a chance. It definitely isn’t your soft and silly short story, but it made me happy nonetheless.
I received this novella from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book is another quick bite from Erica Pike. I enjoyed this story as well. I wasn’t Mr. Corrigan’s biggest fan for a number of reasons.
But I don’t have to like the characters to enjoy the story. I think sometimes stories are fashioned out of people we don’t respect. So for me I still enjoyed the story. Now Troy
So again, Ms. Erica Pike, keep things interesting and steamy bringing in a social issue to tie all the things together. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Very steamy story about a down-on-his-luck (and mood, very much) teacher whose jaded years, depression, and recent lack of morals leads him to making "grade-A-sex deals" with various students. He slowly starts to do away with them however, when he falls for one of his students. Troy comes off as sexy, very slutty, and flighty. In the end, however, the story is really about how little each men show the other about who they really are and how different they in fact are from their perceptions of the other.
I really liked that the author wrote in a "not thinking in the heat of the moment" condem-less scene and then ended the story with a disclaimer about how unsafe sex is a reality for some people who decide to take the risk and that she doesn't condone such practices. Not only smart for an author taking this avenue in what is a big debate for some people in erotica/romance (the condom debate), but also great to see that an author isn't letting pressure from any group decide how the characters would act. It has always been my opinion that the characters should make those decisions, but no matter, it seems like I always read a book where the condom is just thrown in. Hey, if the characters would use them, great, but not everyone does and that ends up saying a lot about a character and/or the situation they're in at the time. It's a useful device and I'm happy to see the author use it here.
So at first, I thought that maybe the subject matter would be a little bit off-putting. Somehow sex for grades seems a bit sordid. But this is actually a very interesting and affecting story about a man who is a teacher by default since his family destroys his life and livelihood when he reveals his sexuality. I really hated that Daniel's son could not accept his father's identity. However, I truly think that the scenes in this story - while painful - were accurately portrayed. My feeling is that this is the way it ends up for a lot of people. Well-written, heartfelt and hopeful!
I like higher ed in general - and this one's setup was slightly naughty and decadent. Grades for sex - the classic scandal. Here though you get a down on his luck middle aged guy and a bright hot young student. The sex was fine - suitable to the story. The surrounding characters were also suitable and, unfortunately, a little bit heart breaking. The POV felt a bit off - it felt different in places. Sometimes remote and sometimes intimate it made this short read a bit confusing to me as far as emotion. Still an enjoyable read.
I can see that some readers might be put off by Daniel in this story. My feelings for him changed as the story progresses. Daniel has an agreement with Troy, sex for an A grade in his economics class. At first it’s just all fun and games, Troy tells him about all the guys, including other teachers, he has sex with, and Daniel’s no angel either, however as the semester comes to a close, things have started to change for Daniel. He realizes he’s actually come to care for Troy, and hates that he has sex with other people as has himself stopped with anyone but Troy.
Once you get to know Daniel, for me he went from being a bit of a bastard who is using people (and I suppose being used) to a rather pathetic excuse for a man. He is divorced with teenage children who did not take it well that Dad was gay. He lost his job because of the revelation that he’s gay, so was offered a position by his step-brother teaching at his school. He lives in a dorm room which sounds like a Hoarders intervention will be up next, his wife takes all his money, he hates his life, he hates getting old, he’s depressed. Which given his life, probably makes sense.
I have to confess, I got a bit annoyed with him when his son finally asked to see him after two years. He wanted money for college, and supposedly Daniel left his college fund with his mother, but rather than address that, he just says “yeah, sure, I’ll pay”. Although I did think his refusal to disavow who he was, even though his son disliked the idea of him being gay, was a strong point for me. As a single parent, I get the “guilt” thing, but you’re not doing anyone any favours by being a doormat. That aside, I did find the ending to have a feel of some hope that things could get better, especially after he and Troy finally start telling each other the truth. I would have liked to know more about Troy, but this is Daniel’s journey from despair and depression to hope.
So my feelings went from annoyance, to pity and a bit of disgust, to the belief that he really could be more than what I’d seen to date. The sex is hot and rough, but I think you’ll either find seeing just how low Daniel is and that glimmer of light at the end that he can claw his way out of a rather unappealing pit (of which his attitude is very much a part) enjoyable, or you’ll find him so off-putting as to be unlikable in any way. I found it an interesting journey, to see an unlikable man on the surface and dig a bit as to why, so it worked for me in this case, even if I didn’t love him.
I don’t know whether I really like this one, or completely dislike it. I love Erica Pike's writing, she's quickly becoming a fave author of mine; and so I was a little disappointed in this one. It could be because the story has so much going on, and not enough time to explore them in such a few pages.
Daniel was married and living a lie, but he couldn’t hide from whom he truly was. So he decided to come clean to a wife he thought of his best-friend, and hope that somehow his children would understand. Well it doesn’t go according to plan. Daniel loses his job because of prejudices, loses his best-friend, and his children. With a brother to help pick up the pieces, Daniel has start over and live freely, though not happily.
Daniel is now a teacher, and with all honesty, he doesn’t really enjoy his job. A perk does come in the form of the sex deal he has with a selected few students (Say What!) He gets to fuck em and they get a good grade. Thank the lord it’s not a grade that would make them a doctor or something. Otherwise, we would have a lot of dead folks. He has one student he has the deal with, Troy Anderson and Troy is becoming more than a little office screw. He’s starting to mean something to Daniel and that scares him, besides what hot sexy young thing is gonna want a middle aged man whose up to his eyeballs in alimony and child support?
When the men get together it’s hellaciously hot and sinfully sexy but it’s also very trepid. They both are keeping their feelings back and making it all about sex, and clearly it’s become a lot more. There is some added drama thrown in from Daniel’s son who just comes out of nowhere with his no good comments (irked me), which leaves Daniel very depressed and because of that he works his way into your heart.
I am on the fence for this one, do I like it, dislike it? I believe it’s a mix of both. Its way too short a story, with all issues the MC faces. I wanted more from Daniel, and I don’t really know Troy enough to form an opinion. The writing is superb, because miss Pike knows how to write, but I just can’t fall in love with this one. I would love to see Daniel and Troy again. Their story has just begun, and I would love to read about where their love will take them.
Once you read it, you'll never have a doubt about this series. I really, really liked the first book, but the story in this second book had caught me off guard (in the pleasent way). sweet love story!
The student-professor theme is not my favorite at all. And although this story was well-written I never really warmed up to the main characters. I especially had a hard time liking Daniel who gives his students higher grades for sexual favors. It’s not only that, but he just never seems to become sympathetic. I recon his character and behavior is too complex for a short story like this, and probably would come out better in a novel. Just like the topic of depression that is broached here. Still, their scenes together are hot and their feelings portrayed well. Their happy ending is actually rather believable too. 3 stars
Who hasn’t had an attraction to a teacher during their youth? Well this takes it one step further and shows the other side of when the teacher is more than willing to accept sex for a grade change. Mr. Corrigan is a heart breaking character whose life has changed all because he decided to be honest with himself and to the people who he thought cared for him. This story is actually pretty sad at times but hit on so many levels of what some people have probably actually gone through in their lives. What I liked about this story is just when you think you know what is going on, bam you get a very pleasant surprise. This is a story about love and hope. A very sweet and touching read.
Cute, angsty, hot, and worth reading. I really enjoyed this story. It very effectively tugged at my heartstrings, which was great.
Although the last sentence was disappointing--it seemed ominously Happly-For-Now, which was less optimistic than the lead-up suggested for the resolution--I still had great fun reading Grade-A-Sex Deal. It was a fun introduction to Pike's work.
This is my favorite of the series so far (I've read them out of order). There's something about the depressed college professor who hates his life, job, everything...except for one of his students, Troy.
Oh and professor Daniel has an agreement with Troy, sex for an A. Daniel is one angry man and he takes out his frustrations on Troy (hot scenes, BTW)
This was story was easy to read and quick. I liked the ending. I disliked Daniel's son Anthony. He's a jerk.
At first you think this story will be really harsh with professors making deals for sex but as the story progresses you realizes not everything is as it seems on the surface. There were some really great surprises for such a short book.
Another cute quick story about a professor who's in love with a student he thinks only has sex with him for an 'A' in his class. I felt kinda bad for the poor bastard but it all worked out, of course.
Very good short story. I was surprised by how much I connected with Daniel. He's depressed, a total mess and he goes out of his way to be a bastard. The angry sex scene was wonderful! My only complaint is that the ending was a bit too rosy for me.
