Life as a lighthouse keeper on a remote Scottish island isn't always the most exciting. Especially since she split with her husband, Mark. Yet, Holly loves her job, her friends, and her life on Bishop's Isle.
Until, one day, strange...things start to wash ashore. Dangerous things she has never seen before. Frightening things that nobody else on the island can explain.
Now, Holly must overcome a whirlwind of troubles and use her lighthouse to try and signal for help, and hope against hope that somebody sees her, and the island's, desperate plea in time...
Warning: Volume 1 is a 11,000+ word story that contains gritty action, bad language, violence, and the Undead. Read at your own risk.
Luke Shephard was born and raised in Oregon, where he can still be found dreaming up stories or getting lost in local parks and reservoirs. In addition to writing, the author has also spent time as a teacher in such places as Spain, Germany, and South Korea.
He now lives with his wife, a son, and a Great Dane that loves peanut butter.
When Mark saw the body washed up on the beach, the first thing he thought of was his ex-wife.
This is the first of three parts of the serialized novel "Bishop's Isle," an apocalyptic thriller set on a remote northern island in Scotland. The setting was fascinating, the characters were curious, and I was invested for a good read for the whole night. Nicely done.
My favorite part: the local population has gone zombie, a group of survivors have holed up in a building, and Gilbert asks, "Well then, who's for a cup of tea?" Ron's reply is priceless.
This is a short story of just 162 KB, part of a series written in 2013. The setting is a small island off the north west coast of Scotland. A pretty little island with 2 lighthouses and a harbour that would prove popular with tourists. Only thing is that the latest visitors are a little different!
Bishop's Isle is a flesh eating zombie tale where the residents of the island struggle for their lives. It is easy reading and the dark humour will raise a smile. The story is told in the style of the popular television programme called Heartbeat. Bishop's Isle is nothing special and ends when the two central characters, the lighthouse keepers, meet up.
Bishop's Isle did not inspire me, so I will not be buying the sequel Volume 2. This short story is an okay read and I vote it 3 stars.
Needing more, much more.Really enjoyed this book, different because its based in the Isles of Scotland.Need to know when second book is coming out.It has everything a zombie romp has to offer, well done.
I wasn't all that impressed with this. Very short on story, and high on Human Stupidity (one character picks the apocalypse to have a go at the woman who broke up her marriage), with not a whole lot of characterization going on, meant I spent a lot of the time being either bored or irritated.
