When a priest hires the crew to retrieve a holy relic that has gone missing, they quickly get more than they bargained for in the form of mummies, drow, and treachery!
The Caverns and Creatures gang is back again in a short adventure. This one is a good old fashioned dungeon crawl, as the title indicates. If you've ever played an old school D&D dungeon crawl adventure, you'll know what you're getting.
The humor of the previous books is present and the characters have matured a bit. There is a good amount of action and a couple plot twists, although one was fairly predictable. Then again, this is based on D&D adventures so that's not necessarily a bad thing.
This is a pretty short book so I can't say much more without blowing some of the funnier bits. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Incredibly foul-mouthed. Uproariously funny. Not certain I'd actually pay money for the constant swearing, but there are other books in the series and the potential laughs might overwhelm my squeamishness. Hey, this one was free when I got it. And it kept me up much of the night, and I repeatedly awakened my guy by giggling. That earns some stars.
'Dungeon Crawl' is another humour-infused adventure story in Bevan's Caverns and Creatures series.
This was a bit longer than any of the previous short stories in this series but I still tore through it in hardly any time at all. There's something so addictive about the adventures of these geeks turned role playing game characters. I'm not sure if it's the crude sense of humour, the relentless sense of fun, the great characters or the brilliant dialogue but every time I read one of these books I really want another one!
I've thoroughly enjoyed all of these mini adventures and would highly recommend all of Bevan's books as they are full of zany good fun with plenty of laugh out loud moments, unusual characters and surprising incidents. If you've not read any of these books yet, I'd recommend starting with the novel 'Critical Failures'. Prepare to be addicted!
Another great read set in the Caverns & Creatures universe. If you ever dreamed of becoming your D&D character, this series gives you a more realistic view of what would happen. You won't find the players setting off on a giant quest and changing the world (Guardians of the Flame), instead they are just trying to survive.
While the story is complete by itself, I would recommend starting with the first book in the series, Critical Failures.
Absolutely love it, while I was never lucky enough to play dungeons and dragons board game I have recently got minecraft and this reminded me of trawling through unlit caverns and repeatedly getting attacked!
It was funny, the characters shone through with just a few words of description. Robert Bevan has a real way with the often stunted, outcast, and even the giant species with lack of control of their bodily functions.
Great one liners, but to give you a taste f the humour, on of my favourites was: ten-foot
“I’m looking for a large sack and a ten-foot pole.” […] “Oh wait,” said Cooper. He looked down at his crotch. “Never mind. I found them.”
This kindle e-book novella is from Kindle Unlimited account book six of 48
Cooper, Tim, Julian, and Dave are exploring caverns searching for what is there to find. They find more than they expected and fun begins leading to a happy ending 😆.
I would recommend this series and author to readers looking for something different in fantasy world 🌎 novels 🤔. 2024 🎑🎉
Another C&C short read, full of the usual fun and frolics. The gang make their way through a dungeon, cutting a predicatable swathe of carnage on the way. It's a funny, breezy, quick read, though probably not the best jumping-on point for new readers.
Kindle Unlimited, the writer definitely isn't 'right' but he is on ku, a few binge readings were in my future.

Check with amazon to see if the 4 pack is still on sale, etc, I got it for 99, the 4 books listed above titled separately under the set. The smaller collections are listed on top of which this one is 5th of the first set titled 6, but did list them in order AND with the individual stories in each one of those since covering the mini collections here. I read the 4 pack, then the collections, in order, not totally sure it would matter with this genre, do suggest personally that the 4 set then the smaller collections be read in order, just in case. Writer does list and say if you have the d6 (Caverns and Creatures collection 1) as collection would not need to reread this as it is the same dungeon crawl listed in the mini set, and this one is the 5th in that set titled 6 but numbered #1 collection, so yes can get confusing, why I just got the sets.
Funny. If you like roleplaying it’s worth the read. Very short and light. Written as a mix between fantasy and “table talk” of players playing a role playing game.
I am so happy si stumbled onto this series. each one has been a solid 5 stars. while.I think that gamers will these books more enjoyable, if a non gamer were to give them a chance I think he/she would be pleasantly surprised
