First book of the year and sadly it turned out to be a huge mess..
It was poorly written, with an interesting plot but weakly executed and an absolute rip-off, of the well known Lexi, Baby.

I even had problems with the original, but this one was ten times worse.
The main character, Jase, is one awful, little jerk. I hated him right away, for so many reasons and he didn't work his case well, while the book progressed.. He kept aggravating me until the last page..
Even when he did something nice, it felt fake and obligatory.

As for the heroine. Oh my God, i have no words. Julie's thoughts and speech was on repeat.. I love Jase, I hate Jase. But i miss him.. Oh he cheated on me.. AGAIN..

And if there is anyting else to say about the writing mostly, it will be the way the author felt the need to justify all the things Jase did
by telling us so.. He loved his Julie, the only reason he had continually sex for a year with her best friend, was only because his mother died..

Well that explains it.. Cause everyone who loses a parent, is bound to become an unfaithful prick. And the drama with the new pregnancy! Dear God.

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- He feels no remorse at all. And when did he exactly paid his dues?
- So for 9 years, his family was visiting her but he had noooo idea about it.. though he looked for her???? Yeah, ok..
- Dual POV..
- I liked her friends.

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

I skimmed through it

While I was waiting to see if I was going to receive any code (and in what city) for Taylor Swift’s tour I decided I was going to write this review but when the time come close I couldn’t focus and I decided to wait until I knew what was going to happen with the tickets (spoilers from the future I got codes).
This book is a rollercoaster and English is not my first language so I don’t know if I’m going to be able to write a review that explains this well.
Let’s start with this: this book is ott, to say the least.
The prologue is h finding H (her bf of many many years) fucking her BFF (of many many years) on his bday at his father’s desk. After she made him a cake for his bday.
You see, H lost his mom (less than a year ago) in a car accident after she run away from her husband (H’s dad) bc she found him cheating AGAIN. Sadly, she dies and everyone blames H’s dad (IMO he deserved even more hate and blame) So, H doesn’t know how to cope and gets DRUNK many many nights. Apparently, he thinks he has cheated on h 2 times plus the time she found him. But we don’t know until later how many times.
h found H and Ow and left the town with a little surprise. h is pregnant with H’s baby and decides to ask H’s family what to do. His family told her that he is not in any capacity of being a father and h raised their child by herself until she marries OM (that turns out to be an abusive asshole bc obv she couldn’t be with someone good and nice and kind and not a cheater)
So, during the 9 years of separation. H drank a lot and sleep with a lot of women to cope. One of them is Brittany, I think it’s her name. Not the same ow that he cheated with. He cheated with bff and this is h’s enemy. H knew she was her enemy. And he did sleep with her during separation but that doesn’t matter bc he always used condoms with them and never sleeps with them in H and h’s house. Importance to the important.
h returns to the home town after almost being killed by abusive OM. H realizes he has a daughter and that they didn’t tell him bc H was a lot like his dad (his dad was one of the ones that decided to not tell H about the kid 🙃 Obv you should take that asshole opinion)
So, h returns and H is starting to pass the time with their kid and then there are women that he has slept with that are jumping any opportunity they have and H’s bro is interested in h. H and h slept together ON THE SAME DESK THAT H AND OW DID when h found them. Then, Brittany, is there causing trouble with h and H and even their 9-year-old kid. The h and H’s bro pass time together and kiss and H found them. And what he decides to do? Go get drunk and almost get a bj from Brittany. He didn’t go with the bj. Ow didn’t kiss him. She went to her knees but he couldn’t. So, obv while he is getting out of the bathroom (where he was going to get the blowie) H sees the h. And then the ow got out of the bathroom and h imagine the worst. h told him that there is nothing between h and H’s bro and that his brother thought it was a good idea to push her toward H 🙃 I don’t know who has better ideas in that family. h told him that they need space and to finally move on. H has a ton of regrets.
So, after some time they have finally a conversation where H told h that he cheated bc she was always taking care of him like he was going to break down at any moment, and with ow he was drunk and could be his old self. But obv it wasn’t her fault. H told h that the times that happened were when H’s mom died or a little time after and another when h and H fought over something.
h is pregnant but doesn’t know if it’s his kid or her ex’s kid. Because she was raped before coming back to town and then she slept with H on the infamous desk. Turns out it’s H’s kid.
Then, they are doing okay and decide to be friends and then sleep together. Honestly, It’s not very late when they sleep again.
Then the ow (the one he cheated with) told him in the present (bc this happens 9 years ago) that he actually didn’t cheat on h those two times. He was extremely drunk and just fall asleep but she made it seems like he did in the morning. So, the day that h found H cheating it was the first time that he cheated. And he did bc ow told him that if he didn’t she would tell h. And ow called h to make sure that h found them. Here’s my two cents. There are two things. A) imagine that he was extremely drunk and slept with ow but didn’t remember bc of how drunk he is. Wouldn’t that be abuse?
But B) if he felt horrible about “cheating” why continue to put himself in that situation? And why instead of being honest with h decided to sleep with ow so h doesn’t know about it?
So, H is at least a bit to blame IMO.
Now, the ow did this bc she was with h’s bro in secret for a long time. Then he went to the military, come and go for a long time, and then decided to stop. Ow was pregnant and her parents make her give the kid into adoption. All of this her bff (h) didn’t know bc she was sent abroad (?) and bc of this she decided to do revenge on h’s bro by hurting his sister but at the same time, she said that she felt connected to H during the time they got drunk. She starts to cry and H hugs her and obv at that moment h enters the room and thinks he is cheating on her again. Fled the scene and went to a motel. Her crazy ex found her and kidnapped her and then went to kidnap his sister (the crazy ex’s sister that becomes friends with h) He beat them and h starts to get birth and because her crazy ex is a doctor he tries to deliver the baby. Then the H appears and decides that provoke the crazy while he is insane and trying to help the labor of your own baby while your love is dying. This family makes the worst decisions. So, h ends up in a hospital and has the baby, everything is good. The crazy ex killed himself in prison. The ow (nemesis) is going to jail too. h ends with the cheater, not Cheater H, and with two kids with him. H’s cheater father sees his grandbabies grow up and people seem like don’t remember what he did. Hea, I guess. Even tho it ends like a couple of months into the future.

One of her worst books yet! I really hated this book I could not relate to either main leads and I am sorry but a death does not justify what he did! She forgave him too easily this book made my insides churn, I felt no love from the heroine and no real remorse for his disgusting behaviour and the worst thing the "hero" still kept on seeing the other woman even after his girlfriend left how can the author expect the readers to like this guy??? This book went straight to my delete file!

Wow!
Great reading! I really enjoyed the writing style of the author and the story captivated me.
This author goes to my list of those who should I buy ever!
I'm hoping to read more about the other characters.
Recommend!

"She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I know all the drinking and fucking around is my half ass attempt to deal with Mom’s death."

"Yes, I cheated on Julie with her. Even worse, I kept fucking her after Julie left."

"I just fucked the man that broke me on the same desk he fucked my best friend on."

"How can you really forgive someone for cheating? There’s no excuse for it. I can’t wrap my head around this. Do I still love him? Yes, I do. But can I ever trust him again? I just don’t have the answer for that right now."

"We haven’t even been back together for a month yet, and I have had the pleasure of meeting a ton of women that he has screwed. They want to share all the seedy details of their time with him."

I usually never give books 1 stars but I had to make an exception. See, I'm a fan of Lynda LeeAnne and this book was so similar to the first book of her series that it made me uncomfortable. For those of you who have read Lexi, Baby, here's a recap on similarities...(spoilers ahead)
Boy and girl meet in High School -check
Boy cheats on girl- check
Girl leaves town and discovers she's pregnant -check
Girl doesn't tell boy about baby -check
Girl establishes relationship with abusive partner -check
Boys meets his daughter after 5+ years -check
Abusive partner comes back with vengeance -check
Girl forgives cheating and marries him -check
The book is so similar that he's also a quarterback in high school, they have sex the first time they meet after several years apart and soon after that she gets pregnant.
I swear this felt like a fan fiction of Lexi, Baby.
But if that is not bad enough, the dialogues from the little girl sounded more like a 17 year old teen rather than a 9 year old girl. I'm returning this for a refund. I definitively want my money back. Do yourself a favor and don't waste time and money.

“I’m so happy our story doesn’t end the way this song does."

Whiskey Lullaby was A-mazing! I couldn’t put it down once I started. I know some people refuse to read books that involve cheating, but I think it can make a story feel real if written properly. We all make mistakes and sometimes things aren’t always what they seem at the time. Life is not always pretty, but sometimes we can find the beauty in life and it may just be enough. Whiskey Lullaby is a book that is just like the song it is based on. If you have ever heard Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss you know what I’m talking about, it not you should really listen to it. The only difference is there is a happy ending in the book, unlike the song…

Julie and Jase were childhood friends and fated to be together. Julie and her brother were abandoned by her mother and became orphans three days later. Jase’s Uncle took them in and they were treated as family from that day forward. Jase was a senior and Julie was a freshman in high school when he felt like he had waited long enough to claim her as his own. He literally walked up to her and told her she was going out with him and they were inseparable from that day forward.
When Julie was a senior in high school they moved in together and things seemed to be moving forward beautifully until Jase’s mother died and he sort of checked out. He became distant towards Julie and stayed out some nights. She trusted him completely and knew he loved her with all his heart. But maybe she shouldn’t have had so much faith in a man who was clearly broken at the time. While visiting him at his work on his birthday she opened his office door to see something no woman in love ever wants to see. She ran out of town and never looked back, well at least not for another nine years.

“You lost the best thing that ever happened to you, and for what? A quick lay that you could have gotten from your own girl?”

Jase was broken and destroyed the day Julie left. His family cycle had repeated itself and he was now paying the price of losing the best thing that ever happened to him. He turned to alcohol and women for the entire nine years until the day she returned.

Julie attempted to move on with her life and eventually married a man named Dean. He was sweet, caring and protective of her for years before asking her to marry him. Once she did he became a completely different person… She tried to run away from his abuse multiple times but ended up waking up in a hospital days later every time. Needless to say she finally found help to get a divorce and ran back home with a couple of surprises coming along for the ride.
“This has gone on long enough. It's time for you to come home. If you're not here in two weeks, I'll come get you." The sound of Dean’s voice sends a chill down my spine.

Jase saw her coming home as a second chance. He cleaned up his act and tried everything to get her to come back to him. Jase also had to forgive her for some deep secrets she and his family kept from him but he made every effort to show her he had forgiven her and hoped she could do the same.

Meanwhile there are multiple jealous women trying their best to come between them and steal Jase, as well as long hidden secrets that will be revealed in time.

I’m trying not to spoil this book for you by telling you too much but it’s so hard. By the middle of this book there is so much going on you will not be able to put it down until you are completely finished. Then you will be upset that it’s over and find yourself wanting more. But don’t worry the amazing secondary characters I loved in this book will be getting their very own stories and I cannot wait to get my hands on them as well. I rated this book at 4.5 Stars and would recommend it to all of my friends and followers. ;)

*****lots of spoilers here - warning****
Gotta be one of the worst H's ever in case my tags dont give you clues, here are some more:
So h went to his workplace with bday cake, found H going hard at it with her bff - H was not aware of her, she left without saying anything, this is what she saw/heard:
"As soon as I open the door, my heart rips in two. Jase's pants are down and a pair of long legs are wrapped around his back. ...and they're going at it so hard that the desk is squeaking." " Yes, Jase, harder, baby. Fuck me like you can't fuck your innocent little Julie."

This is H's thoughts after screwing ow/friend, not realizing h saw and heard above:
" I had a good lunch break with Bec (ow) today. Well, I got off, so i guess that makes it good. I didnt even want to do it, but Bec wasn't willing to take no for anwser. I figured the best thing to do was to fuck her and get it over with." This prince went on and blamed losing his mother for all his drinking and fucked up behavior and his cheating daddy (note: his 2 brothers did not behave that way). He also noted ow froze at some point and didnt think she got off, noting it was a mistake that wont happen again and this was a pattern with tthem so not the first time they had sex.
So many more.
Now the h did the smart thing and left him ....but of course she had to just marry someone even worse right? couldnt find a real prince, nope she found an abusing monster who sexually and physically abused her almost to death, even abuses his own sister. The h and sister finally escaped and came back to prince zhero who was waiting for her by drinking and sleeping his way through all the skankiest women in town awaiting his princess!
H/h back together after 9 yrs, she also had his kid - family was aware and didnt tell H! So wrong!
H admits he has been with numerous women, some he didnt remember or recall enjoying but he had the sense to wear condom?? makes no sense to me....
So the reason he lost h was drinking and cheating, he was waiting for her to come back but still sleeping around and drinking??
Ow kept popping up and shoving it in h's face what a manho H was - what a prince!

I stopped reading, couldnt take anymore, some things cannot be unseen or forgiven or erased -no way do I believe this HEA but thats just moi

** Have since found author has rewritten book with some edition regarding the cheating, not sure how much has been changed**

What a trip

Jenny and Jase's story is a rocky one. When Jenny walks in on Jade she wastes no time leaving him and never looking back.

However when things go bad she run home with her daughter. A lot of drama in this book but who doesn't like drama right!

Thought this book was going to be better than it was..but it just wasn't!!! The writing was not that great..reading about people in their 30's and it felt like I was reading about teens a lot of the time..some of the dialog was just ridiculous.. Also thought the story would have made a little more sense if she would have been gone a couple of years instead of 9..that's a long time considering..he never found out about Jenny in nine years..everyone else knew and NO ONE EVER SLIPPED UP..Just don't buy it..also he kept the house the same..didn't even move her book beside the bed..and within literally seconds of seeing each other after 9 years..they have sex..NO..and the whole Bec "thing"...he cheated a lot and then..oh we'll we only did it once..some of this was just..like I said ridiculous !!!..this is the first book I'm seriously considering getting by money back (if I only knew how??)..I've read better books that were free or $.99 and this was $3.99.there was just so much wrong..felt like a jumbled mess...

I don't know why, but I hated everything about this story. I like second chance romance as a rule, but nothing in this story worked for me. I read the blurb and I loved what was in the blurb, but after that it went completely into the toilet. It started out strong the way Julie left Jase without a word when she caught him doinking her best friend, but to go onto another relationship with someone who was abusive as fuck, and then to come back and make the same mistake with Jase again. Ugh. I hated it. The whole story was just.....

This book was just meh for me. Jase came across as really immature. I am not sure how old he was supposed to be but he acted like and talked like a 17 yr old.

I heard there was major groveling in this book I call bullshit.

I hated that Julie took him back so easily and slept with him so soon. Hello not even using protection knowing he was a man whore.

The only real bright spot in the book was the story of Bethany and Brandon.

Oh and WTF is with all the damned B names Bethany Becca Brittany and Brandon.

I also hated the referral to the minor characters like we knew them. I kept thinking I skipped a book and looked nope first book in the series.

If not for Bethany and Brandon this book would get 1 star!

This book is AMAZING!!

It doesn't hurt that it is my favourite style as I adore the chase, the cat and mouse games, the second chance love, the high school romance and the smokin hot bump and grind, if you, like me love this ^^ BUY THIS BOOK ASAP! It has it all, with so much more, I laughed, I cried, I gushed at the sweetness, I got all hot and bothered at the steam, I got angry, very very f%#king angry,I had just about any emotion you can think of throughout 'Whiskey Lullaby'

Jase- 'She’s like a shitty Christmas present. Pretty on the outside but when you open it up, it’s just a pair of damn socks.'

At first I wanted to jump in my kindle and round-house kick this dump shit in the face ( just sayin!)

As the story unfolds, I fell hard and fast for this man that has had a shit hand dealt his way.

When all is reviled you can't help but feel incredibly bad for Jase, did he severely screw up.... Yes, yes he did. Did he deserve losing 9 years off his life because of it.... Hell no!!!

I loved that he maned up and did the right thing by all.

Julie, well she deserved a little something too, maybe not a round-house to the head, but at the very least a hard bitch-slap!!

I understand that she was hurt, seriously who wouldn't be, but the fact that she let others decide her fate, let them talk her into certain decisions and the direction of her life for soooo long made me incredibly angry!
I'm not talking about her marriage here, but other things you will come to find out throughout this novel.

I loved the way this story unfolds, I was so invested in these characters, so hooked in the story that I read in in less than 9 hours, that's including school picks ups and drop offs, shopping and paying the kids and hubby a little time lol !!!

I LOVE Bethany!!

"She loves you, but she's scared out of her mind. I saw my brother beat her half to death, but he never broke her. When she first got to Kansas City, she was broken. It was because of you. If you want her back, you’re going to have to prove that you won't break her again."

I seriously love drunk Bethany!!

"The usual way?" Bethany says then burps. She instantly covers her mouth and starts to giggle.

Dean, argh give me a few hours with that 'little boy' and I'd be a very happy girl

4.5 Intensely-cheesy Stars!

I was hook from the beginning!! Cheating hero + hidden pregnancy? Yay! Count me in! Yes, it's cheesy and predictable.. but heck it made me feel so many things. The first chapter was heartbreaking and I felt all the emotions running through Julie! I wanted to smack Dean then I wondered why he did it.. I hated him but throughout the story it was hard to remain angry with him. I'm a firm believer that everyone deserves a second chance.

Overall, I highly recommend this book! Loved it!

I just finished Whiskey Lullaby last night and I was really happy with this book. There were a few editing issues, it didn't take from the story at all but I was able to notice them, but no biggie. My favorite was both POV's. I just love how an author is able to go back and forth between the two characters and you can still get a feel for both of them.
Jase and Julie, got to love them.
Jase cheats on Julie and she finds out and leaves. She is gone for 9 years. During those nine years, marries Dean. Let me tell you, what an a-hole. lol. He is so flipping crazy and the things he does to Julie and his sister Bethany just make you want to fly through that book and beat the ever living crap out of him. Julie is able to get a divorce from him, leaves and comes back home....which Jase is still there and has been waiting for her to return. He has never stopped loving her and has always wanted her back but no one would ever tell him where she was. I do got to say, if you are wanting someone back as much as he did, I think you would try a little harder but then reading what happens before and after that, you understand why he didn't show up to get her.
Can Julie ever forgive Jase for what he had done. Can Jase ever forgive Julie for the secret that she has kept from him. You will have to read and see.
I loved the plot from the get go. I like reading about first loves and how they overcome their battles to get back together. Awesome!
There were a few childish moments for me, under the circumstances I can see why they re-acted at things the way the did, I'm sure I would have too. However we shouldn't do it. :) It gets you in the moment though.
That was my only complaint, and it is such a teeny tiny one to be honest with you.
The secondary character were great. Bethany (Julies sister in law) was awesome. You have to feel for her too with all that she has been through.
Matty (Jase brother) was awesome too. I cannot wait to see if something happens with him and a certain lady :) (hoping, fingers crossed)
The sex scene, amazing. To me, this is what happens in the bedroom and was spot on. Sometimes authors have a tendency to go on and on, don't get me wrong love everything about sex but not every other page, gets a little bit to much. Again, was amazing and just right in this story.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good story.
Cannot wait for Bethany and Brandon. Will definitely be watching for that one.

Story 4.5 Stars
Sex 5 Stars
Overall 5 Stars

Jase and Julie
DNF 50%
I liked the beginning when Julie left cheating Jase. Then she ended up in an extremely abusive marriage. She is beaten and hospitalized for years. I hate that trope.I like some angsty ow drama but I hate wife beaters. Also
The H has substance abuse issues which only works for
Me if the H is a rockstar. Then the H has a magic dick with super sperm that gets the h pregnant again immediately after 9 Years… then I got bored and my tbr is too ginormous to keep reading.

Hmm…this didn’t work for me. I wanted to like this more, but it killed me the h slept with the manwhore H who cheated on her literally on the first day she came back to town. The very first time she sees him she has sex with him. Now, this woman just left an abusive relationship where her husband raped her, but the first thing she does is sleep with the cheating ex 🤦🏽‍♀️

The H blames the h for not telling him she was pregnant when she took off, but his own family told her not to tell him. His family said he wasn’t ready to be a father. Yet, the H is mad at the h for not telling him and listening to his family instead. What this does is subvert the rightful groveling he should be doing for cheating on her with her BFF by giving him a reason to be mad at her.

Unfortunately, I just didn’t buy this redemption b/c the H almost cheated again. He admits to going to the bathroom to have sex with the OW, but his body refused to function. This H had poor impulse control and he was never truly redeemed. Also, the kid in this story is creepy and not cute.

My rating: 2 stars.

What I liked: I liked the daughter (Jenny) especially when she told the ow to not touch her daddy. I really liked how both the ex husband and the ow got what they deserved.

What I didn’t like: I didn’t like how Jase(H) turned into manwhore (he slept with a chick that bullied the h....why do authors do this) and on top of it all he didn’t even really grovel. I also hate that Julie kept the child from the H.

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: Cheating (H and h have been together for a while when the h walks in on him having sex with one of her “best friends”), h leaves and finds out she is pregnant (she stays away for 9 years keeping their daughter away from H) h marries a man who beats her.

Final thoughts: This book was very choppy to me. I hate when there is a long separation and not enough groveling. I mean as soon as she see him she is having sex with him without a condom (he was screwing a lot of women and no one talks about STD’s)

When I looked at the blurb I had a feeling where this story was going... and Bingo! I was right.

From the very first chapter you know what messed up thing Jase did to drive Julie out of town.

(Jase--> you twat!!!)

She returns years later with a huge secret of her own.

This is a story I am very familiar with as I must have read it about a dozen times (I kid you not!) but it was still an okay quick read.

Just remember how damn sorry I am and how much I love you

For a short second chance romance book it certainly didn't lack in drama x

I was fortunate to be a beta-reader for this book and I LOVED IT!!!! It was an exciting read that grabs you in the prologue and keeps you going to the very end!! There are moments of angst and suspense as well as steamy romance. The author really shows her talent in this book and it is a very enjoyable read. She even put in moments of hilarity that made me think "wow, out of the mouth of babes!" When this is published, I highly recommend this book!!!!

Another fantastic beta reading opportunity. The review is my honest opinion.

I am a sucker for first loves, and when first love gets a second chance.

Jase and Julie have been together for years. They love each other, live together and are planning a life together. But Jase messes up. BIG TIME. And Julie leaves town, her home and family, with a big secret.
Nine years later-Jase has solidified his place as town man slut. His hard living and drinking have given him a reputation that he continues to live down to.
Julie has also had a difficult time. She has a baby and opens herself up to a new love-making a mistake that almost kills her. She has to run again- this time back home.

Once Jase and Julie meet again sparks fly. All Julie has heard is how Jase is so off track and she can’t trust him to be there for her or their daughter. All Jase knows is that he has to get Julie back, that together has always been where they belong.

I love Jase- he is an ass, unapologetic and heartbroken. He knows he messed up- but he wants to make it right and move on with the only woman he has ever loved. He is also passionate and tender-willing to take it slow as long as they are together. Does this mean he is perfect? Hell no. But he rises to the occasion and with a few slips along the way is there for his family including Julie, Bethany and Jenny.

And Julie- goodness knows she should have it easy after all she has been through. But Dean is not willing to let her go. He terrorizes her and makes her believe she will never be free of him. But Julie is fierce and with the support of her love from Jase and family she starts to move on and give love a second chance.

Drama ensues- and Dean and Tiffany are right in the middle of it all.
Especially loved the full circle feeling of Julie starting and ending the book in a hospital room- but the difference between the scenes is just amazing.
Again I love a genuine feeling HEA, and Jase and Julie do not disappoint!

The epilogue will have you in tears- from laughter and happiness. Jenny is incredible and so insightful- love her.

Matty and Kristen are such amazing friends. I can’t wait to read their HEA! And coming soon will be Brandon and Bethany’s love story.

I wasn't sure about this book but I am really glad that I picked it up! You just know that the series is going to be fabulous.

Julie meet her true love at a very young age being Jase but Jase fucked up big time. Now you see he cheated which I don't like in a book or a man but this book is bigger than the fact that cheating took place.

This book is about how one mistake can cost you everything your reason to live, the love of your life and the future that could have been. Julie left his sorry ass which I think was for the best.

Julie's first choice with Jase she made with her heart the second time round she decided with her head which led to more heartache for both Jules, Jase and Bethany. There were a lot of misunderstandings in the book and it shows how important trust is. Giving someone a second chance because he was a fool and a dumbass kid. About redemption about being grown up and doing the right thing. That life can be ironic as fuck but with enough faith and hard work it is worth it. Don't think that I'm completely on Jules's side here as she fucked up as well. Just as everyone getting mixed up in their business.

We get to meet the whole gang (or at least hear them mentioned) Brandon, Will, Kristan, Shane, Matty, Bec and Bethany and I can't wait for the books to come out.

On a last note I watched the video on youtube of Whiskey Lullaby and I'm so glad that the book has a HEA and that it didn't end like in the song.

I really, really enjoyed this story. Julie runs from her hometown and the love of her life, Jace Gibson. Trying to move on, she accepts a marriage proposal from Dean, not realizing that he is a very dangerous man. He is a total womanizing prick who makes Julies life miserable. To save her own life and the life of her daughter, Julie has to flee. She escapes to the only place she knows, back home. Julie soon runs into her ex,Jace, and tries to continue hiding a big secret that she's been keeping from him for nine years. Jase is your typical bad boy hottie, with a cocky attitude to go with it. He'd wronged Julie and was the reason she fled from home in the first place. These two, Julie and Jace, go through a roller coaster of emotions and try to get past the secret that comes to life. Will Julie be able to forgive Jace of his past transgressions and if she does will he put away his bad boy swagger and whiskey drinking addiction to allow them both to find happiness? Will Jace be able to forgive Julie for the secret she held for those nine years, and find a way to straighten out and be the man Julie always knew he could be? These two characters have issues and emotional struggles with the scars to prove it. And most important, will Dean leave them alone long enough to see what will come of the two of them. Great job to the authors, Dawn and Emily. Can't wait for the next segment!

Ok read, but if cheating bothers you, this won't be for you. Dawn Marten's "heroes" pretty much all cheat, and in my opinion don't deserve redemption. (I've gotta have a grovel). Which she gives them because her h's all have that body deception going on where they just can't help themselves. But I know this about her books, and will only read when I'm wanting to rage. I have no idea why I'm this way 😂. This book is pretty tame though and the writing was ok. H was an idiot with zero self control. h caught him with his pants down a few times, and the h had no personality to be honest. There's a secret baby kept from him for 9 yrs. That's how long she was gone for. Not sure if I agree with the stance she took with that one. His whole family talked her into keeping the kid a secret because the H would have been a shit dad. I agree with that. He was an alcoholic and the town whore after his mother died which gives him zero excuses for what he did to Julia. Sorry, but that excuse was weak AF. Not only that. He was running around on Julia with her BFF. Julia runs away after catching them. Finds out she's pregnant, marries another man who is abusive. Divorces. Comes back to her hometown. Sleeps with Jase on the first meeting. Yeah, I know. They start to rekindle their shitty romance. Ex husband causes some shit. Julia's BFF is holding onto a secret. That pretty much covers it

A love once lost and a friend's betrayal turned Julie's seemingly perfect life upside down. She leaves behind her family and friends to only find more pain when she marries Dean. “I figured being married to Dean was better than being alone.” Boy was she wrong! After nine years of abuse, Julie returns home and with quite a bit of baggage. When Julie runs into her ex, Jace, she is flooded with emotions, both good and bad. Jace is determined to prove that he can change and be the man that she deserves, but will Jace's player past and Julie's secrets be too much for them to overcome?

I absolutely loved this book! Dawn and Emily did a wonderful job keeping me on my toes and anticipating what would happen next. I wanted to hate Jace so much, but I couldn't help but love him. I'm always such a sucker for the bad boys. Can't wait for the second installment of the Love Songs series!

I read this book as a beta reader.

I enjoyed the story of Jase and Julie which is a story of first love, passionate love, love lost, and second chances. It grabs you from the beginning with Jase breaking Julie's heart and Julie, understandably, leaving town.

You end up feeling sorry for Jase even though he's the one who screwed up. He falls apart when Julie leaves and spends the next 9 years at the bottom of a bottle. When Julie comes back, he becomes a different man, a good man, one most of us only dream of having around. He proves that people can change if they truly love someone. This is a refreshing love story with a little suspense and a lot of passion.

I highly recommend Whiskey Lullaby if you like a good love story.
